Title: Subway Shenanigans.....
Post by: jaejonna on August 14, 2006, 10:22:50 AM
I was at subway and could not help to overhear a conversation two obese women were having about losing wieght. Both were complaining about the taste of thier sandwiches and one told the other that the rewards they will reap is just around the corner. I finish my sub and head back to the office, on the way I hear music from a candystore which caught my attention. Then I turn to find that the two women were inside with scoops in thier hands with empty plastic bags to boot!! Sheeesh I didnt think that the reward they were talking about was a Diabetic's Dream and was literrally around the corner!! Why do people bitch a moan about thier weight and still see the sultan of sugar ?

Double J, you feel my pain.  It's a constant stuggle to put all these fatties in their place, but it's one I humbly accept.  Please tell me you at least pointed and laughed.

I did point and laugh but they mistaken my target of humor for the oversized hersey bars in the background...one of them remarked to the other..."I ate two of those this weekend.....hahahah"

sad but true

there are too many dieting myths out there and far too many people willing to accept them

not to mention a shocking lack of will-power and self-control  :o

Exactly right.

Sad thing is, most people out there will jump on the latest fad diet, but are scared to put in some hard work and do some proper eating and training......

sometimes people will come into my gym and get me to weigh them on my scale.....they are not members, and they havn't WALKED to the gym because i see them get out of their car and come in. then they tell me their life story along with how they are determined to fix things up and they ALL say they wish there was a pill they could just take to magically knock off 150 lbs. its really hard to have a conversation with some of these people because their attitude is almost angoring. anyways later on that day i saw one of them sitting on a bench drinking a 2 Litre of Coke with a big straw!!!!

Guys, listen....

candy is really good.  For the last, well, 6 months, I would snack on M&Ms and chex cereal late into the night.  It's really good.  I mean, just awesome.

I just hope having visible abs feels "more good" than the candy does.

Because they probably have emotional problems like depression, loneliness lack of interesting things to do etc, that leads them to eating disorders that stems from their emotions. Once in this state it can be hard to quit, their food becomes a drug. Just something for everyone to watch out for. Try to never eat out of boredom or you might just slip in to it...

Lots of good info and perspectives in this thread.

As a former fatty, I feel maybe I could share some insight.I lost over one hundred pounds in my life TWICE. I did it in my early twenties the wrong way (not eating), and went from 280 to 159 in about ten months. About a year and a half ago I did it again, but this time did it the right way, eating clean, protein, working out, cardio, proper supplmentation, etc. Before I did this, I took about two months to do nothing but study up on nutrition, lifting the proper way, and set up my plan. This time, I went from around 310 to about 189, at around seven percent BF.

Bottom line, it takes dicipline, hard work, and motivation to get there. You guys who have the bodies that are fantastic looking should be EXTREMELY proud of what you've accomplished. People don't want to eat right, put in the time to cook there meals ahead of time to see that they eat properly, hit the gym before after work. It all takes EFFORT, which people don't want to put forth. Hell, I drive my girlfriend crazy with how I eat, and she's a trainer for God's sake.

Are people lazy, maybe, maybe not. Depression can play a part, but many just can't muster up any focus to do it, let alone do the legwork to get anything like losing weight done. NO wonder places like Jenny Craig do so well.
