Q. Did Steve use any steroids in his training?
A. Absolutely NOT! Steve was all natural and promoted natural bodying his entire life. When he was asked to speak before bodybuilding award or some type of fitness event he would always say that bodybuilding should be drug free.
Q. How tall was Steve?
A. Steve was 6 foot 1 inch and weighed about give or take a couple of pounds 215. Although when you compare photographs of Steve at the Mr. America contest at 215 pounds with still photos from Hercules he has to have weighed 225 or more. As the years went on he varied his weight depending on the role he was filming for. During his 60's and early 70's Steve kept his weight at about 215. Steve would weigh himself each day and write it down on a calendar each day. We have many years of the calendars here at Steve Reeves International Society.

The only person that will ever know for sure is Reeves himself
I dont think he took shit, 215 at his height is not that big its his shape that makes him look so good

brutal left over 70's brown carpeting in the home gym.

The guy is a legend. Everyone who knew him said he was a man of integrity. Now you have all these worms say he took shit that wasn't even available in his day.

true dude, the guy isn't here to defend himself , so it seems pretty unfair. Only a coward would attack the legacy of a dead person.
-
I would hope that EVERYONE on this board would be showing Steve Reeves the UTMOST of respect. Legend isn't even strong enough to describe him!

I always found it interesting that in Arnold's biography he talked about how Reeves was not an inspiration to him, that Arnold did not value Reeves physicque and that Reg Park served as the model for what he wanted to accomplish.

Seems plausible, Arnold wanted thicker more massive type muscle, than what Reeves had.

Arnold also didn't have the thin waist or shoulder width to ever attain a Reeves type of build.

Exactly. Arnold knew his structure was different and played it to his advantage.

I haven't kept up, when did he die?

In 2000.
Unexpected Blood Clot after surgery. He was recovering fine and it happened while he was concious, discussing what he was planning to eat for the day. :'(

Another pointless IronAge-type thread

Man, that sucks. :-\ I remember going to the Saturday matinee for a buck and seeing the Hercules and Hercules Unchained double feature. It was like 1974 or 1975 we were about 13. It was awesome. Watching those movies, being a kid and dreaming, being with your pals and eating popcorn without a care in the world. I still enjoy those movies. I have on DVD. I watch them to this day.

Come on Bluto. This is cool shit! Steve Reeves physique is the alltime benchmark for bodybuilders. It sure ain't the bloated, thong wearing dudes of today!

There isn`t a single current pro on par with Steve Reeves.

Not even close. Short ass Bicep muscles. Not near as pleasing to the eye.
-
Not to mention a short torso with a wide waist.
Reeves has him outclassed.
-
"pleasing to the eye" ::)

You need to get over your crush Adonis
This harking back to the glory days is all well and good

Reeves was good in his day
This is not his day
-
Reeves had narrow pecs, but I guess that's the price for being broad.
(but then Sergio didn't have this problem)

The guy looks great. But he isn't any Steve Reeves. Unfortunately I am sure he has used steroids to get much of his physique.

If Graneheim has a wide waist, then Reeves was blocky.
And Reeves wasn't.

Adonis you sound like you wish you were Reeve's boy toy. Why not go for Mike Katz instead? I mean, he is alive and you both look exactly like, so you will have no arguments on who has better forearms or tibius!

For me, Steve Reeves was, and is, the one and only Hercules. He was amazing in those early sword 'n sandal flicks.
