He has improved his arms since then. They are way bigger.

But his waist has also gotten wider. No point in trying to argue otherwise.

The gut doesn't seem to be protruding though.

It is.  I would see him work out regularly at Gold's.  It was pretty big.  Seems like a nice guy though, nothing against him.  Monster truth.

His taper and stomach looked better in the front double bi though.

I remember at the beggining of the Pay per View in 2004, Levrone said Gustavo shocked the bodybuilding world at the prejudging and that nobody expect him to place higher than 14th or 15th

They then showed a clip of him doing a lat spread and he was really really shredded

as shredded as dexter

He was mostly as shredded as Dexter that year with a few exceptions, delts for one.  I think he rightly beat Dexter that year, however, changing the scoring with the challenge round was silly - that's just not how bodybuilding is judged.
Very close from the front but  Dexter owned him from the back so no I think dexter still should have place ahead of him

Screw his arms! He's SHREDDED like 5x more than the other pic! BEST-GUSTAVO-PACKAGE i've witnessed. If he does his homework he can knock off Jay and Dex both. (i just wish he wouldnt make stupid noises when he trains ;D)

Keep in mind it is two different poses. One the abs are flexed and the other a vacuum.

He doesn't look like this anymore. Compare his waist width:

He never had tiny waists.I think it looks really bad because he is FULL of water.Look at his face.
His gut seem to pop to the front and not the sides. In contest shape he will have a narrow gut but protruding one.

If Gustavo had slowly improved since 2004, adding 5-7 pounds max, he would seriously have some chances to be the next MR.O

now we can put him in the same category as Victor

the lighting is wayyyy off in 20005 picture compared to the 2004 one. and  he is poses differently too...in 2004 he was clenching down on his abs to bring them and his serratus out more...in 2005 he is stretching back to emphasize his lats more.

Badell has a tremendous physique

he does have a big gut in the off-season, but its not as obvious when he poses come contest time. His structure, size, and definition really do put him in Olympia contention

I used to think he was a dick, but after watching his segment in the BFTO 2005, I realized he's a good guy. He works hard, has a family, and praises God - what more do you need?

his arms are 22.5 inches

i just wish he would stay leaner in the offseason and not blow up, he could really get some nice quality definition by stayin lean year round like Dex or even JAy.

pointless

you would be right if he had trouble dialing it in for contests but he doesn't - with the exception of this years Arnold (where he ate some bad pasta) he has consistently come in peeled and shredded

Dex can stay lean year round because of his fast metabolism

as for Jay, he's putting himself at tremendous risk by staying that lean and jacked up on sauce year-round. NOT a good idea

He is very lean in these pics,he just holds water.Same as Jay and Coleman.
There is no reason to be in contest shape year round.

yeah but notice that the guys who don't blow up so much in the offseason dont lose control of their gut...and thats pretty much the only knock on Gustav' here...he gets caught with his stomach pertruding here and there...
