Title: LATEST JOHNNIE JACKSON STRENGTH CLAIMS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Ex Coelis on August 20, 2006, 05:29:04 PM
In the new issue of Flex magazine, Johnnie O makes some SERIOUS claims. Here's a list of the most notable:

Bench Press: 495 x 5
Floor Presses: 405 x 5
Incline db press: 200 x 8

Alternating db curls: 120 x 8-10
Hammer curls: 150 x 8-10

Squats: 675 x 5

Seated military: 405 x 8
DB lateral raises: 100 x 8-10
Upright rows: 315 x 10
Seated db front raises 120 x 8

Lying cambered bar extensions: 245 x 5
DB kickbacks: 100 x 10

Deadlifts: 700+ x 5
Bent barbell rows: 495 x 10

Johnnie is easily one of my favourites and I sincerely hope he wins the Europa where he seems guaranteed a top 3 finish.

how does one do a floor press?  I'm assuming you lay down and bench from the floor thus your elbows stop at the floor.....?  what is the benefit of this?  I just don't get it.

Yes, thats what it is. It is just another way to train the top part of the benchpress, and is used by some as a tricep strengthening exercise.

whatever the numbers may be, his form is atrocious.

if he didnt compete in the WPO, (how many years has it been), those claims would be totally ridiculous.  but since competiting as a pl and a total of 2000+, you might believe him- for a second.

the only one I have a hard time believe is the bent barbell row of 495 x 10, since Ronnie could only manage 6 reps in Cost of Redemption

he's a good person and a very apprachable/cool guy so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt

Hmm...isnt his bench pretty close to the record for his  bodyweight? His deadlif and squat are quite close too.

A quick google, since Im not going to look for all the powerlifting federations.

Ronnie did about 8 reps with the 495 and they looked easy, he stopped WELL short of failure. He could have put 585 on the bar and rowed that for 6 IMO ;)

Alternating db curls: 120 x 8-10

Hammer curls: 150 x 8-10

Seated db front raises 120 x 8

these three are the hardest to beleve...no way hes curling 100+ pounds with decent form

and i dont know where to begin with the seated db front raises...i wont say thats impossible, but i've never seen anyone do more than 80lbs for front raises

Ronnie doesn't do a ROW, he does a sort of a deadlift/row combo with a lot of momentum. What Dorian did in his video was a row. What Ronnie and JJ do are full body exercises.

The only lift I believe he's capable of, are the "rows", the squats and the deadlifts.

The rest I highly doubt.

Benchpress? Yeah, ok...

That would translate into something like 900 lbs shirted. Johnny Bullshit Jackson.

But I believe him to be the strongest bodybuilder, no doubt.

johnnies a strong guy to be throwing those weights around but his form on row's is atrocious i really doubt he uses any of the targeted muscle at all when he does that excercise,he jerks the weight up.

then again hes got an awesome back so he must be doing something right...hes also growing a third trap at the bottom of his neck ;D

the only lift i believe on that list is the squats, every time i've seen a video of this guy he's been lifting 60 percent of the weight he claims and even that hr struggles with, he had a rough time with 495 for 5 deadlift on BFTO '04 and i saw him barely bench for 2 bounce reps with 405 on another one of his videos.

I agree with sarcasm here.... for a guy whose deadlifted 800.. he "struggled" with 5 plates in bfto 04 for a gut who pulls 800... he was def not impressive...
.... i keep hearing about all thsese lifts with a lot of bbers.. but when it comes to video time.... nada..
the only bb's so far that have lifted what they have stated so far is coleman.... cormier.. and levrone...
