I found this video of Branch and Johnnie from their recent visit to Kuwait. The weight they throw around is pretty impressive, but the craziest part is at the end of Branch's set of 315 - his career could have ended in a split second.
I was particularly impressed by Warren's pressing power at the bottom of the lift. He held the weight on his chest for a couple seconds before exploding upward. Though impresive, it seemed like a quick way to a pec-tear . . .

Poor spotting on Johnnies part. Also,they should use chalk as I could imagine how hot it is over there and your hands sweat alot. I am actually pretty impressed by this video. Good form with the elbows in, going all the way to the chest and the pauses in the middle of there sets.

Thier claimed lifts seem even more suspicious after seeing this video.I have a couple of friends who bench abit over 500 and they handle 400 just as good as them.
And these two claimed to rep 5+ with 495 or something like that right? I doubt it,but who knows .

And these two claimed to rep 5+ with 495 or something like that right? I doubt it,but who knows .
Doing 405 12 times with a pause on the chest at the 8th rep pretty much says to me that they could handle 500. Why would they want to though if they are training for a bodybuilding show?

And regarding the bench claims,Warren seems stronger and he got quite abit of help on more then a few of the last reps.
Doing 500X6 like they claim will be a real stretch for them.Remember thier bodyweight,those numbers are getting seriously close to being a world record.

Is it just me or does Jackson seem to push the weight (405) up less and less with each successive rep? Also, is that pumping the way most people on here lift? It didn't seem very controlled to me. :-\

JOJs always claiming all kinds of strength feats, but warren was definitely more impressive there. but that bar falling was his fault, not JOJ's, considering he was completely capable of pressing the bar all the way up but simply missed the catch. its not the spotters job to touch the bar or interfere unless the lifter needs help on the lift.
but the whole time i was watching this video i was expecting a bomb to go off underneath warren and JOJ and have the video operator keep repeating "allah akbar, allah akbar"

Branch has always been stronger on pushing movements than JOJ....JOJ is stronger on pulling movement

I always guide the last rep into the catch when I spot. A lot of times it can bounce out so it makes sense to just guide the last one in.

That is a little discouraging. I honestly wouldn't ever bench like that. I can't imagine feeling smart training like that. Different strokes for different folks I guess :-\

It really depends. On one hand they are the only pros I ever see benching with the elbows in which takes tremendous amount of strain off the shoulders. On the other hand, benching like that is not going to develop the pecs as much as benching with your elbows out and they are bodybuilders so I would imagine they are just training to develop muscle for cosmetic reasons. So really who knows whats better I guess as long as they are training hard, taking all the drugs and getting enough food and rest it doesnt really matter.

Actually, I have found that pausing at the bottom is a good place to rest instead of up high on the triceps and shoulders. I find I can bang out a few more reps that way sometimes. Anyways, I am glad some others here saw that the form was a little "funny", however, like you said, it seems to be working for them so who cares.

Both men are very strong. Their form is fine and that is how big guys train when using weights they can toss around for reps.

There's nothing wrong or "unsafe" with the way they bench. Both of them could easily get 500 with a pause.

Tall girls (5 feet 10 inches plus) are funny creatures.
They definitely prefer taller men and even some of the real hot ones put up with absolute shit from tall guys that shorter girls wouldn't dare put up with.
Problem is is that becomes unattractive after a while. I'm 6'3 and prefer girls around 5'3 to 5'5 personally.
Tall girls are great for doggie though... :D

while not textbook i think their form its pretty good. Some solid reps with good weight and there are the pauses at the bottom.
I myself dont lock the weight up anymore. Its a lot better for my elbows that used to hurt at the bench (not anymore) and its even more difficult! i feel constant pressure on my pecs during the exercise

imo branch is overall stronger than johnie... fine jone is stronger on pulling movements or so we have heard... but in bb there are more pushing movements than pulling....

I guess my preference is that girls not be taller than me, and at 5'9 only about 3% of girls are, so it's never been something that's on my mind. As a kid I wanted to reach my dad's height who is 5'10 but fell a bit short (the men in my mom's side of the family are all very short, under 5'7). I also like girls around 5'3 to 5'5 :D although when it comes down to it, my only true preference is that they are not over 5'9.

I often wonder, you hear "Benching is bad for you- injury asking to occur, blah blah" then you see Branch and Johnnie going at it, looked like first movement too..i demoded bech to second to last movement, sometimes ill use the hammer press, bc all thes einjury stories got me Skeered..

If you squeeze your shoulder blades together, pin them on the bench and bring your elbows in when you bench, you are less likely to get injured.

Both have freely admitted in MD that Branch is better at bench press, while Johnnie is better at deadlifts.
Frankly, its nothing to be ashamed of considering their overall strength and appearance - just something that makes them unique from one another

branch was a machine in the BFTO 2005 - unbelievable strength considering his conditioning and that he was only a couple days from competition

Those claimed lifts were at off-season condition. They appear to be in contest prep. 405/495--does it really matter?? What they are doing is getting the job done for the muscle being trained.
