I agree, Matt Hughes is getting on my nerves already, and I hope he says something stupid like "It would be embarrasing to lose to a lighter guy" and then loses again. Although, I think he will be better prepared this time. In anycase,War Penn!

i just read elswhere that GSP/hughes is still (or back) on.

And BJ will be is awesome shape. He is training everyday and nothing else. Very focused as always.

This is awesome! I would love to see Penn beat Hughes. Then, have that followed up with a Penn/GSP rematch, with GSP wining. Then, have that followed up with a GSP/Hughes rematch with GSP winning!!
-
good deal. i'd rather see this fight then the winner vs GSP
man, i hope BJ........IS in shape.
-
I'm gonna have to disagree with all. No matter how much anyone hates Matt. He is a very dedicated fighter. The guy trains hard and shows up every fight. If he wasn't a great he wouldn't still have the belt and he has fought formadable opponents.... I think whoever hughes fights will catch a beatdown, so i have to turn against yall on this one and say HUGHES!!!!!!!!!
-
BJ by RNC or armbar.
-
What's everybody's beef with matt hughes, probable pound for pound the best fighter in the UFC, dedicated, not cocky, does his job in the ring beating everybody put in front off him, so what the hell, lay off of him
-
we just like BJ a lot more!
-
BJ comes from one of the most down to earth and close knit families I have ever met. His roots are solid as can be. I could only wish to have had that kind of support from my family.

Matt comes from a very family orientated home.. He was grounded by his parents... he wrestled in high school and worked on a farm... he actually used to buck hay for one of my good friends dad.. her family has nothing but nice things to say about him, from high school still to this day..... hes a very approachable person and very down to earth... i hope he keeps the belt..... as good of a public champ as any...
-
BJ is unreal ready for this fight. He is going to kill Hughes
-
St.Pierre will fight whoever wins Hughes/Penn. Hughes should win but I am also getting a bit tired of him but thats why hes the best.

hughes needs to be humbled by bj penn

Bj will kill Matt within 2 rounds. He is so ready for this.

I like both fighters, but styles makes fights. Matt's game is dominant freestyle wrestling, and ground and pound. Fact: No one has passed BJ's guard in an mma fight. So if Matt takes him down, he will end up in his guard. Two things will happen. 1. Matt creates space to drop elbows, and gets caught in a sub. (not good for Matt) 2. Matt stays in his guard and waits for the ref to stand him up (better). I think Matt can wear BJ down by the fourth and fifth round, and THEN impose his will on BJ. If he comes out extremely aggressive, BJ will catch him in a sub, or KO him on his feet. BJs standup and submission game is much better. Matt is better in the clinch and takedowns. I think Matt will be too excited to control himself, and will want to make an example of BJ. His overaggressiveness will lead to his downfall. GSP was smart enough to know to take BJ down, and lay and pray until the standup and repeat. This is how you eke out a decision against BJ.

Only problem is it won't go 5 rounds. If it does BJ will lose. They will not give BJ a descision. And Matt does not want to go toe to toe with BJ. He'll want to keep it on the ground and hope BJ makes a mistake.

I completely agree with this. If both fighters fight their best fight, I honesly think BJ will win. But if it comes down to a close decision Matt will definately be given the decision.
-
If I were to bet on this fight I would bet on MATT HUGHES. There is no way that BJ will be able to catch him in a rear naked choke again or an arm bar, Matt will just power out of it. BJ will look for strikes standing or a triangle on the ground. I think Matt Hughes will be dropping elbows and fists all over BJ PENN in which the referee will have to stop the fight.
-
As much as I dislike Hughes, I have not seen enough of BJ recently to believe he can beat Matt. My heart says "go BJ", but my head says "Matt will win by ground-and-pound". :-\ Matt is one tough bastard.
Good to see so many anti-Hughes people here! :D Nothing personal, but he comes across as cocky even if he isn't.
-
Both Hughes and Penn came across cocky as hell ::)
but I'm picky Hughes tonight
-
i think Hughes will win this time, BJ doesnt seem to be as good as he was and Hughes is only getting better. BJ could shock us all and beat him again, but i just cant see it happening for some reason. GSP has the best chance of anyone to beat Hughes but i think Matt has too much for even him
-
So how about the way GSP acted after the fight, was that cocky enough, now not only does he have to fight Matt, but he pissed him off, smart move
-
I like how Matt said he was planning things to happen the way they did. You were planning on being dominated for 2 rounds, almost being submitted, and having your oppenent gas? Bullshit.

BJ kicked his ass for 2 rounds. Separated his ribs and just couldn't fight inthe third. He dominates Matt and in the rematch 100% guaranteed BJ will knock Matt out.

no shit right! plan on getting owned for 2 rounds? doubt it.
gotta give the guy credit though....that was a pretty bad ass crucifix....

BJ was not gassed. His ribs hurt so bad he could hold them up. He wanted to tell his corner he separated his ribs but didn't. He just couldn't handle the pain and defend himself. In the rematch he will not give Matt a chance again. In two fights BJ has kicked Matts ass. He's not using the injury as an excuse but he was not gassed as most people think. With a month of training for the fight he was in great shape. COnsidering.

yeah...i didnt think he didnt seem gassed...even though hes a little chubby, hes still a cardio monster! matt got owned...and im glad. i just wish the finish was of different accord. i wish bj had pulled this one off too!
not a HUGE fan of penn...but he is a fun fighter to watch
matt hughes on the other hand...uggh..i could take him or leave him
