Some motivation for us taller natural guys:
German Runner-up in 1982 and then German Champion in the following year were just two of Ralf's milestones on the way to his ultimate goal in 1986 in Tokyo: World Champion! At 1.96 m, Ralf is still the tallest and heaviest bodybuilding champion ever.
The fact that doping tests were carried out for the first time during the bodybuilding world championships in 1986 made his achievement all the more notable. Ralf reached his goals with a great deal of self discipline in training and diet.
-
Great post. Allways loved this guy. Funny that they were doing doping test in 1986... 8)

Why does it seem like before 1990 just about everybody had better chest development then today's pro's

They made sure to use the bench press as a staple in every single chest workout.
-
seriously man. Not to sound like a fag but ALL of them had like slabs hanging off their chests and they knew how to do a side chest pose. These guys today look like shit.
-
maybe someone will post that pic of him getting buried by little stevie Brisbois at the 1990 arnold classic.....

Probably because the guys back then had slim waists, while the BBs today have huge bellies that diminish the percieved mass of the chest, while also destroying the potential of the side chest pose.
-
Check this clip out.. Ralph does those 4 plate benches like they where nothing!
-
Big frame,some good bodypart's,no leg's even for the 80's,natural =no.....

just what I was thinking...
-

The reason is because they are fake and not even a very good fake at that.

Yes DF that is part of the reason. The other is hard training with bench presses. Not many do that today.

Cool cat. I trained arms with Ralph more than a few times. We enjoyed a tasty bevearge at Arnolds Cigar Night at Shatzis too.
Ralph always had a big S-Class Mercedes. I could never quite figure that out.
-
Posing and lack of a thick midsection created the illusion.
How tall are you?
5'10 on a sunny day.
I guess that's a valid point. I looked at some old poses. Seems they suck in their stomachs as well. I doubt if any pro's today can do that. Jay Cutlers side chest is pathetic. He doesnt' even do it right.

Care to disclose any details? Got any stories? How did Ralph train? Arnold had a cigar lounge? Where there gang bangs taking place there?

He is 196cm as listed on his official website which is 6'4" 1/2. Here he is with Lou.
-
Two questions :
1. How heavy is Moeller now?
2. How much did the photog pay to get lou in the pic?
-

I know moeller was 6'6 he got out of the game to act and didn't get to stay around and experiment like gunter is now.he would have too be 350 in today's standard.

Let's not act like that would be a good thing
-
He had a role in Gladiator as well.
-

i agree but sadly it is a fact ,too much height today is considered a curse cause you need a lot of mass to fill out longer limb's.
-
It's that mentality of "bigger is better" that has ruined this shit.

Details? Nothing the tabloids would care about :(. Arnold had 'Cigar Night' the 1st Tuesday of the month, every month, at his Santa Monica restaurant Shatzi. This was before the huge anti-smoking campaign that has eliminated all smoking in the state of California. Lots of people would show up and enjoy a stogie and just get blind drunk. Arnold always hosted the main table and he would always have Ralph, Sven O'Thorson, Franco & friends sit at the table. Very relaxed... very fun. I sat at the table 3-4 times, always only for 1 or 2 drinks and 1 or 2 jokes. I first met Arnold through Don Ross in 1990/1991? He knew my name, and knew that Ralph knew me, but not much more.
Gang bangs? That was a whole different group.... Ralph had nothing to do with that action. ;D

Oh brother... the flagellation at the end wasn't necessary ;)
-
that was awesome how he ate the broken glass in Beerfest.
-
The mags used to say he was 6'8".
Was also in Universal Soldier, 1st one, with JC Van Damme.
Anybody know what he did to supplement income to be able to afford S-Class Mercs? Before acting career, besides standard G4P answer?

ROMAN POW TURNED GLADIATOR FROM GERMANIA IN GLADIATOR!

Damn cool stuff man!
What would be the typical bander taking place at a table like that?

Damn cool stuff man!
Q: What would be the typical bander taking place at a table like that?
A: Pretty standard, The-booze-is-flowing-lets'-drink-more type stuff. Arnold always liked talking about cars... he owned one of the 1st civilian Hummers and that was always a point of conversation. Ralph newest Mercedes. Food... good deserts. Booze... favorite 'real beers' aka heavy German stuff. Favorite cigars, it was "Cigar Night" after all. Lots of joke telling. I still remember very clearly telling the entire table my 'Hitler & three Acrobats' joke ;D Once Arnold started busting a gut, the whole place fell apart.
Also keep in mind, that during the early & mid 90's, Arnold was at his office (Oak Productions) Main St.& Navy St. almost every day, so it was not the least bit unusual to see him or interact with him. He was totally approachable and pretty much just a regular B+/A- celebrity in Los Angeles.
I do remember one night about 1am, Maria showed up, clearly not happy to be out of the house at that hour and she was walking around trying to get Arnold to split and he was having a good time and wasn't crazy about leaving. The body language was standard; Girl is mad... "You're drunk, let's go home!" Guy is having a blast... "Oh come on honey, lighten up!" ;D Maria stood by Arnold with her arms folded across her chest until he slowly made his way towards the exit.. Ralph & Swen had a mighty laugh at Arnold's plight. I think we started chanting; "Arnold's in trooooouble, Arnold's in trooooouble."
It was not hard to be invited and placed on the list and once you were on the list, you could bring all the friends you wanted. Plus we always knew all the guys working security (LaCombe Security) anyway... they trained at Golds.
-
cool its that huge guy in Gladiator

Oh man if only reality tv would of had the smarts to film those momments! Today people are too boring on tv they lack the guts and wit but watching Arnold would've been a blast. Thanks!
-
Anytime... :)
-
cool its that huge guy in Gladiator
Yup!
-
No way was this guy natural. No way. I would bet my left nut on it--after Adonis spits it out of his mouth, of course.

No problem.
Two more from 1986:
-
Last one is tooo 'shoped!
-
My friend took this one when he was in Hawaii. Mid 80's I think
-
Yea, Only, I did take that one and many more that weekend. Shortly after that picture was taken, Rolf and his girlfriend got in that helicopter to take a 20 minute flight aloong the Waikiki coastline and the pilot had some difficulty ininially getting the "bird" off the ground.
After a few minor "flight ajustments", they were safely on their way.
Rolf is a great guy but very difficult to talk with because of the strain you place on your neck and back looking up in order to maintain eye contact.
-
Hey Daddywaddy, this guy makes you look like Barney Fife.................... ..wut up wit dat, Dad???
-
Freaky huge. That's alot'o muscle on that 6'6 frame.
-
I think that here he was pretty natural.
don't know if he was natural there or not. how do you tell for sure these days?
that's vitali klitschko (recently ex world hw boxing champion) running up the stairs with him in the second pic. makes me wonder if rolf was his strength and conditioning coach at some point. always curious why so many champion boxers employ bbers to train them when boxing establishment has always been so anti bbing (make ya too bulky they always say)
fig, that was dolph lundgren in 1st universal soldier, not rolf.
-
1st his name is Ralf
2nd the pic was from a tv-show
-
Last one is tooo 'shoped!
I don't believe it is, could be wrong. I found that second black & white shot over at http://classicbodybuilders.co.uk/, the shots there don't seem to be photoshopped at all.
He was born Ralf Rudolf Möller I think, but in various magazines from the early 1980s he has been credited as Rolf Moller and Rolf Moeller. In Cyborg (1989) he appears as Rolf Muller, in his next few films as Ralph Moeller - I guess they tried to 'Americanize' his name or something.
Here's another from that contest (1986), the lineup:
-

Sure, Lundgren was in it, but so was Moeller:

Scroll down to "cast and crew information".
He's got a "small" part, as one of the soldiers, one scene that stands out, is when they go out of control and he's eating some raw meat in a supermarket.

...okay, whatever you need to believe...to achieve.
p.s.- yes, i know moeller.

Natural competing in the Olympia? Dont think so. Great physique.
replace olympia with any bb show
-
He is 196cm as listed on his official website which is 6'4" 1/2. Here he is with Lou.
I always figured he was about 6'6". I have read articles that listed him as tall as 6'8". I think 6'6" is about right seeing Lou is about 6'4" 1/2.
-
He's 6'7" I believe who knows with these guys in 88 they were listing him as 6'8" anyway he was probably the best very tall bodybuilder

You know, because that wasn't the sound of someone having an orgasm at their keyboard.

Thank you ND. It is clear from this picture that 6'8 is not much of a stretch for Ralph. Clearly he was at the very least 6'6 and 1/2.
I heard he was 7'2"... Played pro ball, didnt he?

Matt, I know its hard to tell but that picture of Ralph running up the stairs it looks like Klitschenko is clearly taller than Ralf. IIRC that Klitschenko brother is listed at 6'7" 1/2.

Ralf flunked the drug test in 1990 at the Arnold Classic, it's no secret.
Here are some shots of a much younger Moeller, no sure what years.
