Big time.

Have you got the ad there with Penelope Cruz?  Can't remember which cosmetic firm she's signed up to. I can't find it, It was on the back page of some glossy here last week and I've recycled it.

That doesn't bother me as much as the lipstick ads.

We've got one running up here that shows a bright gloss and will last for 6 hours.  ::)

I can't count how many times I have fallen for and I still get sucked into these ones.
I bought 3 different shades.  :-\
I am thinking of buying some varnish in the hardware store and using it.  ;D
I am a huge sucker for the lip gloss/sticks.

Try the Almay long lasting lipstick.

I was pleasantly surprised when it actually did last all day...well over 8 hrs.

It did, however, make my lips feel like dried out sandpaper :-\

I don't bother with actual lipsticks anymore. They all suck as far as I'm concerned, ...and Christian Dior lipstick especially sucks. The darn thing breaks just rolling it up.

What I've been using for years are Mac lip tints and a little Carmex. Just apply the tint and blend it with a little Carmex with a lip brush and you're good to go. They're great, last forever and you can customize your own shades as needed. I use an empty compact, and just squeeze a dollop of each shade into the compact. It's almost like a painter's pallette where you can create any shade you want on the fly as need be. I hate the Mac makeup line. It ruins your skin, but their lip tints and eye shadow powders are fabulous!

If you have a Mac store near you, go in and tryout their lip tints. They provide free samples which I swear will last you for months.

Just a question.

Do the lip volumizers work? Like the ones I see some in GNC

I don't know about ALL lip volumizers, but I do know the one marketed by Lexxus International works.

It's called 'LexxLips' and is a combination of pharmaceutical grade arginine & menthol.
It plumps up the lips by increasing blood flow to them, and it works exceptionally well.

makeup irritates me.  I hate it.  mascara especially.

I love Carmex though.

You can just pinch your cheeks and pout.  I'm sure it's much better for your skin.
Did you see that news item recently about 173 chemicals in each product?

Never heard of Carmex.  Where can you get it?  And where can ya get LexxLips?

Carmex is a lip balm, available in a squeeze tube (I think) or little pot (about $2). It's best in the pot form.
It really conditions the lips, and while it does eventually evaporate, it leaves your lips soft, luscious, and with a tint of color, ...almost as if you were not wearing any lipstick at all, ...only with color. In order words, it's give the illusion that whatever Mac lip tint you applied, is your natural lip color without the goopy look of lipstick. If you like the glossy look, you can always use more Carmex. It's available in most drug stores. White pot, yellow lid.

LexxLips is a product only available through independant distributors of Lexxus International.

I have a lot of friends in that company, I'm sure I can find someone to give it to you at cost.

They discovered it by accident. The developer Dr. Ronald Thompson was actually testing a topical cream to be applied to a women's genital region to improve blood flow, circulation, and orgasmic responsiveness. He kept applying the product to his lips which was the closest area of his body with tissue similar to that of a women's ahem... He was testing it for taste which might be a factor in the use of the product, as well as for any potential irritation due to the menthol carrier. After a few weeks, his wife noticed his lips were getting fuller. Turns out, the product was increasing the blood-flow into his lips causing them to appear fuller and lusher. Of course the light bulb went off, ...and a new product was born.  :)
I'll PM you the info.

I have tried about 4 of the "lip volumizing" products sold at Sephora.  Some like "lip tonic", "lip venom", and others.  They all look and feel the same, although they vary in price ($18-$35).  If you can get past your lips feeling like they are on FIRE for about 30 min, they look good.  They also increase blood flow to your lips, causing them to swell in a half hour.  But it only lasts for about 2 hours.  Then they dry up, and you go to bed using CARMEX.   :)

Also, they all have the glossy, wet lip look.  And your man will hate you for kissing him because it transfers and will burn his lips too.  Bob refuses to kiss me if I have glossy lips, he fears the burn!

And don't even think about doing OTHER things with your lips with that stuff on!!!!  :-*

See, ...this is why I HATE sending info by PM rather than simply leaving it on the board for the benefit of ALL who may be reading.

I forgot, they recently changed their name from Lexxus International to NHT Global.

You can read about LexLips here: http://www.nhtglobal.com/EN/lexlips.asp?secureID=&country=US (http://www.nhtglobal.com/EN/lexlips.asp?secureID=&country=US)

Current prices.

If you want the lexlips the distributor cost is $24.15 US + shipping of $5.

Distributors retail it at SRP of $39.95

If you're able to find a distributor in your area, don't let them charge you any more than $24.15, ...or any shipping unless they have to make a special order. Otherwise just tell them to include it in their next autoship.

...Or if you like I can have someone send it to you for wholesale cost. Delivery time is usually 3 business days

I just got back from the drugstore, and they had the lip plumpers on the front counter. They've got 'City Lips' retailing for $40.00, as well as The Dermaglow nuvectin lip plumper, also retailing for $40.00. There was one brand by Sally Hansen that was going for $8.99, but it was about 1/4 the size of the other two.

I don't know about any of those brands, but I do know the lexlips works. I don't use lip plumpers myself, ...but when I was a Lexxus distributor, I tried it right after they lauched it in Dallas, Nov 2001. I put it on about 8:00pm, and I could immediately feel my lips tingling as more blood started flowing into them. The next day, I looked in the mirror and noticed just a slight visible increase in fullness, but I could actually feel the difference in the fullness of my lips for a few days, ...and that was only with one application. It scared me 'cause I didn't want to end up looking like Evander Holyfield. {lol} My body is highly responsive to arginine.

My girlfriend Teresa had a very thin upper lip, ...and only used it on her upper lip. After a while, I noticed her lips appeared more even. It wasn't something we immediately noticed because the change was so gradual, ...we noticed it when looking back at pictures and seeing her bird lip, and that's when we realized her upper lip was alot fuller.

PS - There's no problem with Carmex in your car on a hot day. Just make sure the pot is sitting upright and the lid is on tightly. It will solidify again as soon as the temp goes down. Now if ya had it upside down or sideways, ...and the lid was on loose... {LOL} I did that once, ...only once  ;)

Yeah I'm going to switch to the container, I was using the roll on kind.

I think any natural solution for fuller lips on women is better than injections which require a very skilled doctor or they look lumpy.

Yeah I'm going to switch to the container, I was using the roll on kind.

The tube is convenient, no doubt about that, ...but for me the challenge is keeping it clean and colour free, especially when I use it as a base for lip colors. I also hate dipping my fingers into pots because fingers have so many germs and bacteria on them. I use a little stainless steel spatula available from most medical supply stores. It's great. you can simply use that to dip into pots, and to mix tints or cremes to create custom shades, and your hands never have to get messy, and your cosmetics and skin care never get contaminated, ...especially when some supplies will last you for years at a time. I just hate having to throw something away after 3 months when you've only used 1/10 of the container, but once you dip your finger in it, you have to toss it within 3 months or you'd simply be applying bacteria along with your cosmetics.  :-\

Again, an empty compact is great as a pallette. Especially those little Mac blush & eye shadow compacts with the clear flip top lid. The clear plastic stackable containers are great too -- the ones where they screw onto each other. You can squeeze a little dollop of whatever lips tints, and scrape a little dollop of carmex in there and mix in the compact. Just apply with a lip brush or other appropriate tool. Since the amounts used are so small, bacteria build up over time isn't a concern, and your larger containers never get contaminated. Just store them in a sealable tupperware container in the fridge and you're set. You can stack your foundation & loosepowder together, and stack your lip tints, and carmex base together. And stack loose eye shadow powders together. You have a virtual pallette for whatever shade in the rainbow you want. Mix match, customize at will to match, highlight, pop, or accent any shade or colour in your wardrobe at will.

Hope That Helps,
(http://www.jaguarenterprises.net/images/Judi-sig50.jpg)

L’Oréal lashed over Penelope Cruz mascara advert

L'Oréal has been condemned for producing "misleading" mascara adverts featuring Penelope Cruz.

The TV and magazine adverts boasted that women could have up to 60 per cent longer eyelashes with its Telescopic mascara.

The Hollywood star's voice promised: "Lashes that could reach for the stars."

But a sharp-eyed viewer suspected the actress was wearing false lashes to exaggerate the length of eyelid hair produced by the product.

Penelope Cruz

It was misleading
She protested to the Advertising Standards Authority, who upheld her complaint.

It found the TV commercial misleading and said the magazine advert failed to be accurate and true. During the investigation, the French company admitted that the star had been wearing individual false lashes.

The ASA has ordered L'Oréal to add a disclaimer to future adverts whenever models are shown wearing false lashes.

It also told the firm to make it clear that its "60 per cent" claim referred to the appearance of the lashes - not to an actual extension in the length that could be achieved by using the mascara.

Linda, do you know whether the Advertising Standards Authority is UK based, or is this a North American body?

Cosmetic advertisers in North America have a tremendous amount of leeway with regards to what they can say about their products, and the profit margins are usually HUGE, but if this is to become the new standard whereby models in mascara adverts are not permitted to wear false eyelashes without disclosure, ...it will have a tremendous ramifications on the entire cosmetic industry.

Yep, I thought it was kinda important and might have impact on worldwide advertising...

But they're probably way ahead (or completely over the top) here in England on the health and safety and the other politically correct legals...

Thanks, STella for recognising the need to object.

Most minor issues don't bother me and ordinarily I get irate when people complain.

But that false advertising seriously bothered me.  Even though I never wear mascara.
Perhaps they'll have to stop now and start to sell realism.

Perhaps they'll have to stop now and start to sell realism.

Thanks for that info Linda. I was thinking the same thing, as well as wondering if the impact will be worldwide.

I know a girl that has lashes for daysssss! The poor thing has to cut them regularly. They're like fans on her eyelids.

Anyway, she has a very pretty face, but she's about 5'1", and pleasantly plump... not the best candidate for editorial modelling. However if the fallout from this decision by the ASA has worldwide ramifications, ...she just might find herself in demand. It could perhaps only affect the UK.

I thought of cutting mine but never actually did, instead I let them bend upwards on my specs and at night on the pillow.  My lower lashes are longer than most people's uppers.
I like it when the ends go blonde.

But there again, I have incredibly hairy legs and pits...

You win some, you lose some.

My eyebrow is fantastic.

I thought they showed the insurance and comfy bed and robotic stair chair ads during daytime, the tampon and odour eating multi-coloured plug in plastic thing ads during the afternoon and cars at night.  (We've still only got 5 channels in England and two of them don't show ads...

...But sometimes I like the adverts more than the show I'm watching.  Some of them are fun!
