Title: How reliable are internet gear sites
Post by: dragonheart on September 09, 2006, 06:56:59 PM
Not naming any sites in particular.  But are the majority of them scams?  It looks like it to me but ive never tried out the internet for gear so I dont know for sure.  It seems like the majority of the ones I come across are ran by some guy on an island outside the US jurisdiction and tries to scam people out of their money.

Yes, 99% are scams. There are a few that are legitimate, but then with these guys you are typically running a high risk with customs, especially since customs knows what most of these guys packages look like.

Thats what I assumed.  Mostly google is where I found some.  I know how to backtrace a website to see where the server hosting it is located, and most of them are located in cities that i have never heard of, like eastern europe / western asia cities.

Yes this is what I thought also.  I need to find me an address of some abandoned warehouse or something for shipments haha

some of the sites you find on google are legit- but overpriced- their are only 2 or 3 online sites id risk ordering from- and they are board sponsors on alot of boards im on -so there is never any problems -
another thing I know how to backtrack a website too and just because they are setup in some little shitty european country does not mean they are not owned by an american- you have to understand to get away with what they are doing you have to have the site setup out of a country where gear is legal- the sites that are setup out of the states are shut down or have a high risk of being fucked by LE.  just wait for all the new mex companys to open and it will be usa domestic all day long-
