Not the training split but the workout itself. I noticed that the way Yates does one max set for a bodypart, Ronnie does maybe 2 max working sets.
Ronnie does pump sets to work up to his final max set. so for bench its like 225 x 20 315 x 12 405 x 10 495 x 5
Dorian yates does more of a sissy girl warm up like 135 x 10 225 x 8 315 x 6 415 x 6
Now whenever I read in magazines that Ronnie does 4 sets of 800 pound deadlifts for 15 reps I actually think it is work sets.
I do 4-5 worksets per exercise.
What training style do you find best gains with? pyramiding or straight sets or something else?

I find not standing by someone else's car wearing G Unit clothing and actually going to the gym works best.

also, Ronnie and Dorian's training style made them and broke them..
I think Dorian's style was more balls-to-the-walls. if you look at genetics and how many years it took 'em to be Mr.O
Dorian tore most of his muscles. incuding bicep, tricp, quad, forearm there's probably more that was unreported
I like more of a johnnie jackson power- building style..

Yes! I like Johnnies chest and back routines.
Dorian and Ronnie both became the most dominant champions in our sport excluding Arnold and Haney.

lol, I thought the title of this thread was writing style and not training style. Do you guys think Ronnie's training style is similar to Dorian's?

Written by: Ronnie Coleman, Five-Time Mr. Olympia
"I understand your frustration. Month after month, set after set, you slam into your chest workout with everything you have. The steam of your sweat fogs the weight room, and your sucking lungs explode with every rep, sending the acrid chalk-dense air swirling like a desert storm but nothing.
The harder you train, it seems, the slower your progress. You obey all the rules good form, hard and heavy, proper pyramiding, and a regimen so precise that the Greenwich prime meridian bends to your schedule but your chest remains the same. Sure, its thick, swollen and proportioned, but you want it bigger. You want to watch it grow, see it move, bulging and distorting like a Lava Lite in front of a funhouse mirror."
I am not talking about that garbage magazine. Look at his workout videos.

I don't think Ronnie's training style "broke him"
he has won 8 Mr. Olympias at an age where dorian is selling supplements from a booth instead of competeting and he is about to win one more...

Don't understand why you're dissing yates here.
the man has paid his dues and became mr olympia numerous times in the process. maybe you should ask a pro bodybuilder how significant an achievement that is. Better yet, ask your man Ronnie and try talking that shit to his face re yates. he'll set you straight.
if you want to compare ronnie's physique to yates, that's fine, that's what it's all about with bodybuilding, but show some respect.

You're a fcuking idiot.
Ronnie don't use a spotter.
Dorian uses a spotter.
Ronnie don't train to absolute failure.
Dorian goes past failure, different HIT techniques.
Ronnie does multiple sets.
Dorian does one heavy working set, all out.
Ronnie does long workouts.
Dorian does short workouts.
alexx, you are a buffon.

They're totally different styles Ronnie trains 6 days a week Dorian 4 days
Ronnie trains each bodypart twice a week, Dorian once a week
Dorian went beyond failure for all his work sets, Ronnie doesn't
Ronnie does more sets and reps, Dorian uses less volume
I don't see too any similarities really

Please tell me you are illiterate. Read my first post! Programs are different but the actually workout is pretty close.

other than ronnie and dorian working hard, that's about all they have in common.
alexxx, you are an idiot.
dorian does 1 working set of each exercise and goes beyond failure with forced reps, negatives, etc. (warmups dont count) and ronnie does at least 4 reps and stopping when he hits failure.
dorian does full reps with perfect form.
ronnie does partial reps with sloppy form, but it obviously works for him.

So Ronnie does 4 reps per workout?

I think you're on to something - they do both lift weights.

Hey jerkkk off
You just said " Programs are different but the ACTUALLY workout is pretty close."

Dissimilar. Yates' sissy warmups? Alexxx has always been the sissy and should try this type of intensity. Yates used HIT effectively as it's supposed to be done, which makes a training partner essential. Only got injured by making the mistake of continuing heavier HIT training pre-contest when some HIT trainers acknowledge now that that volume with lighter weights pre-contest is better for refinement and less stressful on the system.
Coleman uses about 12 sets per muscle, sometimes using giant sets with virtually no rest.
