With the PDIi around and Night of Champions, does anyone remember that you used to have Dan Lurie, I believe he had "mr olympus", and of course the old md york mr america. all organizations had the champs, the ifbb was always the place to be. anyone know warren frederick, or tony altas...
what happened to the old guard...ken waller, steve davis, al beckles...
maybe this will start a new discussion

You could be right... how would I know? I'm not an old fart like the guy who started this thread.

i just thought the younger lifters should understand, not everyone makes it to the top and even less make a living at it, as for any intelligent thoughts, you probably havent had many in your lifetime...and an old fart is better than a new turd, later...

Lurie ran the now-defunct WBBG (World Bodybuilding Guild). I remember Serge Nubret, Tony Pearson and Chris Dickerson competed in it, among many others... I think Sergio Oliva even won the WBBG Mr. Olympus a few times... it didn't seem to be as big of a deal in the old days for guys to compete in different federations... someone correct me if I'm wrong on that!

thats right dan o. he ran a small new york outfit. I used to buy his mag. I just wondered what the old timers are doing and if they are healthy. thats the stuff you dont hear about. how many of these guys had a family or kids?

somehow, i doubt that you speak for everyone. just speak for yourself.

On the Getbig History - Memories Board, there are myriad discussions of past bodybuilders, and some of the history that came with it. It is actually a very good board to respect, and learn about people from the discussions. Some of my favorite threads are there...
