I never really had a problem with holding on to the BB in the deadlift, but someone suggested to do some grip training to improve my deadlift, I've never been good at closing those grippers.
When I started out I was far from closing the #2, and could only do one or two reps with the #1.
Weak, in other words.
After consulting a few guys who trains grip on a regular basis...
Have been doing the following workout for grip the last four weeks:
3 sets each hand with the #1, static grip, holding on as long as possible ( I close the grip, then hold it tight until it opens).
Every second week I have one go for each hand with the #2. Last night I was 2-3 mm's from closing it, which is an incredible increase in strength over the last few weeks. I'd say I was almost half an inch from closing it when I started out.
It gives a nice workout for the forearms as well.
I'll never have a grip like Magnus Samuelsson, but at least I'll be able to make a few people cry in a few years...

Sounds interesting. How much do these gripper thingy's cost?

Are they any use in increasing forearm size?

They're great for increasing forearms size. You won't find a great gripper without Popeye forearms IMO.
You could at least exchange some of the work for some grip work.
We have a Rolling thunder as well. I'm going to be doing two sets for each hand with that too.
I think Ironmind.com is the place where you order them.

Good stuff!
i have the #1 and #2 as well, the 2 is tough but you will master it quickly...i use them twice a week while i watch TV or surf the net.
Farmers walks with extremely heavy DB's also made a world of difference in my grip strength...
at work the other day one of the techs was building a wall and one of the metal tabs was bent so it wouldn't line up. he kept trying to bend it and couldn't get it to move. i walked up and bent the fucker straight with my hands...he looked at the guy next to him and said "man, don't piss that dude off"...lol

Hehehehe...
Damn!
Today I got both hands!!! Gawd damn! Had the usual rest of 4-5 days, then tried the #2 before doing a three sets with #1 each hand.
CoC #2, with both hands!
Seems like the workout layout is working, as I've managed to get the #2 in a few weeks.
I'm not going to hold the #1 to failure anymore though, will squeeze it harder, but avoid failure. Just seems like the rational thing to do to increase explosive grip strength.
Will try the #3 in 3-4 weeks, to see where I am, to make some kind of assessment of what work needs to be done to get it as well.
Just guessing right now, I'd say I'm at least 2-3 years away from closing the CoC #3 though.

Good luck! I'm looking foward to the arrival of my COC. I order the #1 to start. See where that takes me. Farmer's walks I've tried and I love them.

i tried the one the other day and realized how hard it was...
remind me not to shake your hand :P

If your not 250 pounds then add the extra weight on a dipping belt or hanging ab strap around your waist so that the total body weight is 250. Then hang from a chinning bar. How long can you do it without stepping down? If you get the chance try it and write back.

Pick up the heaviest DB's in the gym and walk with them without using straps or gloves...carry them until your grip is about to give out, rest and repeat! or if your gym is not very keen on walking with them you can simply stand in one spot and hold them as long as possible. pick a heavy weight, something you would have trouble holding for more than 30 seconds.
World's Strongest Men do these...
