Title: Question for John Romano
Post by: natural al on September 26, 2006, 08:57:05 AM
John,

I don't remember if you worked for MD back when this happend, if not perhaps you can get Steve B to shed a little light on the subject.

I remember hearing a rumor that the IFBB told all the other various magazines that if they covered the WBF shows they would be banned from all future IFBB events.  I was wondering if this was true.  I'm also wondering how long it will be before they lay down this ultimatum to the mags concerning the coverage of the PDI shows.

Thanks in advance.

Hopefully to follow good trends set by them.

But realistically speaking, if you've been getting away with murder for decades, why change now, unless you absolutely have to?

things are a little bit different these days.  I think there is more "public' awareness as to what's going on, with message boards and such.  I think if they tried to pull that stuff today there would be a whole bunch of people going nuts on the boards....back in 91/92 you didn't really hear about it today it'd be all over the place.

Romano,

Is mannien dude really always getting into people's lunches in the fridge in the MD breakroom?  Word is, he can sniff a complex carb a mile away.

Sorry guys... I'm scrambling to make deadline today and leave for Vegas tomorrow.  I was working for MD back then and i do remember hearing something of the sort, but I can't remember exactly.  I'll ask the boss when I see him tomorrow.  I know Weider did keep TwinLab ads out of Weider publications which sparked an anti trust suit between Twin (who owned MD at the time - Steve B and his family) and Weider. They also used to photo edit out the TwinLab logo on contest shots of the various shows it sponsored.

Same thing everywhere.  Same as in politics.  Same reason why Bush didn't give a fuck about the Katrina victims - because they were poor.
another very true statement. good point!
