Title: Beef - just bought 200 pounds
Post by: Adam Empire on September 27, 2006, 09:48:20 AM
I just bought a quarter of a cow - 200 pounds of organic beef (grass fed).  $2.75/pound - what a deal!  Because the beef is all natural and grass fed, it is naturally lean (the burger is like 93-95% lean).  It is nice not having to pay 9 bucks a pound for a Ribeye or New York Strip steak.

Has anybody else done this?  What did you pay a pound?

(By the way, the packaging is guaranteed for a year - so it won't go to waste.  I checked that out first)

What out for mad cow disease.  ;D It pays to have a good connection with a butcher in the bbdg business.

This is the second time I have done this.  Organic beef is the way to go, especially for that price.  I bought a separate stand up freezer about a year ago and it all fits in there fine, though there is not much room to spare at this point.  This amount will last about 6-8 months depending on the diet...

Additionally, when you buy like this, all the meat is packaged into the sizes you want, roasts are the weight you request, I had some 4 oz and some 5 oz patties made from the burger, the steaks are all packaged 2/pack per my request.  They even gave me the bones for my dogs! And get this, the meat was delivered to my door for free as well - and the farm is over two hours away.  It doesn't get much better than this.

I live in WI - so if anybody here or in a nearby state wants the contact info - let me know.

$0.00.....My inlaws are ranchers in South TX and I get a (60-80lb) shipment of ground beef, steaks, and roast twice a year.  ;D

Your price is decent though, and grocery store meat is like night and day compared to lean, grain-fed beef...you'll never go back.

What a great description for this type of meat. So are cows that have been injected with drugs called "inorganic"?

Grass fed beef tastes nasty. Let's keep feeding the cows corn so they get nice and fat and yummy! Besides, nine out of ten cows prefer the taste of corn.

I remember growing up as a kid we would have this truck deliver meat and fill up our freezer we had in the garage.  Steaks, hamburger and everything else you get from a cow. It was about 500 lbs. each time.

Actually, the cows from this farm are fed corn the last three weeks to add flavor and marbling (or marblizing - I don't know the correct term here).  Anyway - I like the taste   :D

What I find interesting about my deeply concentrated melanin friends is that they are ripped more so due to the fact that they can`t afford food because, statistically, they make up a larger section of the destitute population, rather than good genetics.

indeed, and guess which group of folks make up the most obese group of fatties in the states?

As per your very pertinant point TA, in such a situation wherein these types do not have the food available to them, then, due to genetics (that when expressed give rise to work shy modes of behaviour, which then lead to destitution etc) they are ripped (as would anyone be in that situation)

However, when they have some spare welfare to spend on food, their natural slothlike, low IQ tendancies see them spending it on obesity inducing shite (such as cheap processed, mechanically rendered chicken, washed down with a quart of Dick Gregory!!!)

In short, they always have a fucking reason, someone to blame, these [of course] are far easier paths to travel than to look to oneself for the answer

Good day

I do this 2 or 3 times a year... The cost for me is approx (Australian $) $5.50 per Kilogram (2.2 lb to the kilo).

First, awesome find, tx man.

Second, read this:

"At Rebel Ridge Family Farm we raise our animals with tender loving care [UNTIL WE KILL THEM FOR YOUR EATING PLEASURE] to bring to you the best beef cuts you have ever tasted."

Granted they probably DO treat their cows better than other places, but still it's kinda funny.

Makes the bleeding hearts feel better tho that before the animal they're eating died, they lived a life of bucolic bliss.
