Title: TRULY A Very Sad Picture...
Post by: vein-x on October 01, 2006, 10:52:09 AM
Not even joking, this one hurt. The look on Ronnie's face, man... f*cked up. I feel really bad for the guy, and although Jay probably did deserve this, Ronnie shouldn't have gone out like he did - bloated, depressed and now alone.

Just hope the big dude's alright..

The suicide watch joke last night, while funny, is probably more true than we'd like to believe. This is ALL he had, and now with 2-3 serious injuries (see: left lat, left and right triceps) he's either going to put up the fight of his life to reclaim his crown next year... or he's all done and goes out in a sad, sad way.

Ben should trade in that getup he wears for a real suit... he'd look a lot less ridiculous.

This is actually and very classic , telling shot of one of the great dramas played out in any sport.
It shows the old warrior finally being bested by the younger lion.

wtf what is there to feel sorry about. He won the show 8 times!!

He should take it like a man.

I feel more sorry for Jay getting all those second places.

Hey man, watcha gonna do, if it was anyone of us, we would feel the same.

Ronnie has the competitive heart and pride of a lion....

imagine how poor Jay felt all these years....

But i assume it stings a little more for Ronnie...mostly shock.

You know, regardless of the rights and wrongs of this year's result, props to Jay not only for taking his win (after years of disappointment) with calmness and dignity, but also in the way he acknowledged Ron and raised his hand.

I can't remember Ron being as gracious in victory.

Yeah and that's what I'm saying... it's gotta be hard on him because not only did he lose, but I honestly don't know if he has the body left to give it one more run. His back looked BEAT UP and his triceps... man... I'm STILL in shock  :-[

he jus tneeds to be like 280 tops...

imagine he does like Arnold, comes back and wins and retires...

betcha thats what hes gonna do...

only thing against him is b3ing 43....man, to still carry that much muscle at 43, is beyond me.

Ok here is a couple tidbits about Ronnie. I suspect that the guy will be just fine. He always has had a laidback attitude and did what he had to in order to win. The man has a "LIFE", he is still a certified cop and has a college degree in accounting and I believe he has a sexy, steady girlfriend in his life.
I am sure he is bummed out, who wouldn't be. While I am not religious, Ronnie may have been at a church service today, and his faith helped him deal with the loss?maybe?
If he retires he goes down now as one of the all time greats in bodybuilding and into other aspects of his life.
. I for one hope he comes back, one more year, in ripped shape and does battle again, one more time.
THAT would be something to see, with all the new hungry young lions out there now

Very VERY good and relieving post bro. Thanks for that. You're probably right, I think he'll be OK and possibly come back like Arnold to take it and retire.

You will never see Ronnie onstage again as a competitor. It's the End of an Era....which is sad in it's own way. Reminds us all that life keeps moving.

The fvcked up thing is between him and cutler he was the better of the two last night, if you were looking for the guy with the best build to win the show, that would be Melvin, Dex or Toney.

Ronnie's just over it.  He dissed Bob for the radio show a few weeks ago and then just shrugged off the Olympia press conference questions.  He's just tired of "playing along."  He had a good run, fuck it...there wasn't anything left to do, and I honestly think Jay deserved at least one Olympia win like that after he's basically given his whole being to the sport for over a decade now.  Jay knew he was about to win last night, I'm sure he and the "powers that be" had an "understanding" going into this thing.  I'm not saying it was unfair or there was a conspiracy, either...I'm just saying that it all played out pretty harmoniously in the end, if you ask me.  Poetic justice.

Oh, boo-hoo, Ronnie didn't win 9 straight O's.......the champ got beat......1st happened at the Ms. O and now the Mr. O.....things are shifting a bit.   Conspiracy theories will abound now and whatever.....Jay deserved his win.....congrats.   I think Ronnie is an amazing champ, but he was soundly defeated.....no shame in it.   I'll remember Ronnie's career for his 8 O wins.   I mean, Gunter beat him at the GNC in 2002....that's all but forgotten now.

Whether Ronnie continues to compete or retires the man had an amazing run and as of the 2006 O is now JUST the 2nd best bb on the planet.

Congrats to Mr. O Ronnie Coleman 1998-2005 and Mr. O Jay "Squad Endorsed" Cutler 2006!!!

Why does everybody read shit into Ronnie's expression? Of course he is going to be disapointed. How would anyone feel if they held a title for eight years and then it was suddenly over? They wouldn't be jumping for joy.

I think that part of the problem is that all Ronnie's pics and videos (except for when he is training, or maybe napping while training) show him smiling. He seems to be a very happy, cool guy and he really has contributed a lot to bodybuilding over the years. Although some say he isn't a great ambassador because of the way he speaks sometimes, the man is funny and has a great sense of humour. It sucks to see him sad is all I think.

I am not trying to lend to a conspiracy theory here, but this is the first Olympia Joe has attended in years ( health issues in the past.) I thought it was great seeing both Joe and Ben at the Olympia.

Ron, did you get to met the Weiders? And I am curious as to if Joe is aware of GetBig?

very much so. I think this just added a whole bunch of fuel to his fire. He needs to know what it tastes like to lose. especially after so long without it.
