But pause it at 1:09 and what do you see?
haha....I do really like Melvin though. I think only Ronnie looked better at the nightshow than in prejudging. Dex looked damn good in his video too.
-
Wow! That was sweet. That's what our Mr. O should look like.
Amazing !
-
Yep but just goes to show everyone can have a gut at the wrong moment.

haha I knew you'd do a new gif of it knny lol
all you have to do is ask....just takes a few seconds
-
melvin is such a great poser. he should do these classic makkawy-style routines and leave that ghey shit at home.
-
does anybody know the songs melvin posed to?
-
Wow let the hatin begin. No matter what I will continue get better every time I get onstage. 5th is only the begining. I see that some you love to speak on the negative and not on the posistive. I put on a lot of size to do what i did at this point and trained my butt off for this show and it paid off. This will keep me motivated to only get better. I beat alot of good atheletes at the Olympia. Bad angles of cameras make things look worst than they are. But I can take the heat so bring it on. :D
Marvelous
-
Ok . I'll bring it on !!!!! I've been saying this since the finals.
I had you 3rd. If the judges followed the mandate, then you should have been 1st. Toss up between you and Dex. With Vic in 4th.

Hey Melvin you are making great improvements and are one of my favorite bodybuilders onstage. Oh yeah and I will still challenge you to a posedown in the near future. ;D
-
Melvin You looked great bro! Nevermind the hate.., fuck'em..congrat's again on your best Olympia placing yet!

No Melvin, what is trying to be pointed out here is that every bodybuilder, particular pro's can be caught at the wrong time and look like they have a gut.
Its not a personal attack atall.
-
Mel, what did you think about the placings?
-
melvin - tell us about that car wreck you had on Saturday. was it serious?
-
haha, melvin you looked awesome at the show! The first pics I saw- the prejudging comparison pics I came across- I noticed a guy on the very right of the screen who looked like a very ripped version of Chris Cormier. At first it didn't even cross my mind that Cormier had dropped out of the Olympia, so it shocked me to notice upon closer examination that it was you :o So obviously you've done an awesome job with packing on mass while keeping the symmetry and lines intact 8)
Other than that, no one here is hating on you. Its just the way it is over here. With 250+ posts under your belt I thought you would know better than that. Good luck.
-
Reviewing the photos I don't think anyone would have complained if I was higher. The main thing is for me to keep the pressure on myself to continue to improve and beat the physique I presented in 06 in 07 at the O.

awesome improvement in all round thickness melvin.top 3 next year for sure. ;)
-
keep the pressure on myself to continue to improve and beat the physique
or do you mean.....beat the meat
;D

I dont take it personal. But you are right that shot is not good in my oppinion. I am content with my placing. I had myself minimum 4th place and I really went after Dexter in the prejudging and night show. So I left everything on the stage so I can't complain. the judges rewarded my progress this year and I am happy for that. I said I would do well on the radio and I did. 5th in the world is a grat placing but I strive to do better next year.

Best poser on stage as well. Perfect posing. That's how you present a physique !

Cool. But what do you think of Ronnie losing to Jay?

I agree. Melvin's routine is the only one a straight man like me could bare to watch.
-
hi,melvin.
how did you're off-season differ this year?what enabled you to gain so much size?
-
He looked really flat to me...Diff/put on some size though...But the 29 waist claims are now out the window...That is of course he has a 33 in chest...

That's exactly where I had you Melvin, ahead of Dexter but in the end it doesn't really matter . AWESOME JOB . Big Congrats. D

Melvin you looked great and as always you're a class act. I would have had you higher as well.
-
Melvin's routines have always been the highlights of Round Three. We all know that Melvin works hard, and practices for quite a number of weeks on the routine, unlike some who just come up on stage and pose. Which is why the fans and the crowds at the O and other competitions really appreciate the time and effort put into it.
Coupled with the fact that Melvin took my question at thre press conference and answered it with class and dignity, and then had the funniest 'donut' story at the seminar Sunday morning, Melvin is one of the ambassadors of competitive bodybuilders.
Congrats on your highest placing yet, and I did predict you in the top six this year! One of the few on record who did!
-
Hey guys thanks for editting my post title :-\
Like the others have said this was not a personal attack on melvin as he's a great BBer, more an eye opener to the fact everyone has a gut onstage at the wrong moment and Melvin's waist is just about the smallest of them all!
-
Im stoked for Melvin. His career seems to be skyrocketing into high gear. He looked freakin awesome at the O. I didn't get a chance to meet him but, theres lways next time. Watch out for Melvin07 !!!!
-
Marvelous Melvin. What else can one say. The man added quality size without compromising on his symetry. The big O is a different ball game. He beat notable guys like Dennis James, Gunther, Branch, The X factor Toney freeman and many more. The man deserves all the praise one can afford. Compliments and looking forward to seeing an improved melvin next time out, probably at the Arnold in March. You deserve a break, maybe the sea side at Peru will do. Congrats

I loved the episode of Blind date that Melvin was on. Mel, how did things work out with that lady, anyhow?

Ruhl is going to EAT you

From what I saw, I had Melvin winning the whole show, Vic would be second, Dex third. Ronnie and Jay Forth and Fifth, respectively.
-
Quite agree with if the IFBB had restricted their judging criteria on what they had emphasised in their advisory. As it stands now, we have a hybrid of refined symetrical looks with mass monsters. Jay and Ronnie dont have the look that is pleasing to the eye, they are pure mass bodies lacking in symetry. Just in line in Victor and Jackson of the other order. The logical inference from this is simple. The advisory pertains to other pros minus Jay and Ronnie

Melvin I think your waist grew and I do not think that the added size is an improvement, but I guess this is what you have to do to be compettitive in the IFBB. You have a great physique don't compromise it too much more just to gain placings
Also with your popping, don't initiate all your moves with the same left arm wave...gets monotonous.
-
Hey Mel..
I though you told us you were going to Crump at the night show (remember u started to that thursday night....lol, Naw you did a hell of a job. Poetry in Motion
-
Mel should have placed higher with his routine and improvements..... Many props to your hard work bro..............
-
I loved the episode of Blind date that Melvin was on. Mel, how did things work out with that lady, anyhow?
The Beef
It was a TV show...hence it was staged. Melvin was with another girl at the time of the showing & the pad that he was at was Shawn's....
as this is what Shawn has said on here before.
-
melvin, you are light years ahead of the others in your ability to move and control and flex your muscles. i notice your routines are made of two parts (the ones i´ve seen). i always love the first (slow, dramatic) part and dislike the second (funky) part. i guess its just your style. but i´d really like to see you pose in the style of ed corney, mohammad makkawy, rusty jeffers, lee labrada and lee haney. regardless where they placed, to me their posing is that of a true champion ( a true champion doesn´t necessarily win the show, its a mentality thing).
but don´t take me too seriously, just an opinion ;)
-
Damn that brutha can move! Nice work Mel!!!
-
You imprved Melvin, but to be honest, your midsection
is clearly going down.

Many have done this, for example Shawn and Flex Wheeler at the 1993 Mr. Olympia
