I think it's just great. Their ARE opportunities for young amateurs to make money in this sport via proper marketing. I am nowhere near the level of Flex, however I've marketted myself and taken advantage of several sponsorship opportunities on smaller levels for almost 8 years now. I don't think I've had to buy supplements for 7 years thanks to great companies like PROLAB and MHP. Even Ecclipse 2000 back in '99 picked me up before I deserved it. This should be real encouraging to young guys who want to carve a piece of pie from this industry. Congrats to James.

If geeks like 240 and I can make a living off of bodybuilding ANY and EVERY bodybuilder should be able to. I don't feel sorry for pros who don't.

Bet you anything he won't make anywhere near as much money with the IFBB as if he was to be with the PDI. He jsut won't make any money. He won't ever win a show. His prize money is limited to a $1,000 if that. Too bad for him.

Flex Lewis seems like an EXTREMELY down to earth and approachable guy, plus tons of potential! Congrats on signing with the Weiders! Certainly a HUGE accomplishment for someone his age!!

you said "he chose the right federation", as if there were different federations to choose from. The definition of federation is "an organization or group within which smaller divisions have some degree of internal autonomy". Neither the PDI or the pro IFBB is a federation, unless perhaps they're federations of contest promoters.

No, he isnt even a pro yet. Hoping next year at the British Nationals to secure a pro card. Funny how the PDI gets blackballed by the IFBB/Weiders and Flex Lewis competes in NABBA, EFBB, and so on. Just a weird thought............. :-\

dude PDI is a joke...it won't last even for an year...PDI is a disgrace.the quality of the competitors at their shows is beyond pathetic..

Its going to be considered to be an inferior quality line-up in the initial stages, sure, as its a new "federation".
However, with time, it will develop a more competitive stable of competitors. Perhaps sooner than you and others may think.
With regards to lasting less than a year, ridiculous... ::)
This whole thing about Lewis here, there, where? Watch him wake-up and switch to PDI mid-way through next year...
He reminds me of Clairmonte, who used to compete in the "minor" organizations in the late 80's, early 90's, someone like him would have gotten his just dues in the PDI.

Yeah... Jame's connection to TN is me! ;) I am the one who got the promoter for the GreaterKnox to bring him out. Shina was one of our clients and is one of our dear friends. Hence, the love connection! ;D

No not really, yeh sure it would be nice. Id rather be able to support myself like I do with my realty services company, by doing flips, and wholesale deals on residential and commercial properties. That leaves me with peace of mind knowing that I'll always have good money coming in, rather then just relying on a sponsorship contract. If someone has the genetics to be the top 10 in the world, then yeh sure you can make a good living at bbing if u can stay healthy long enough into your 40's without burning out. If you can't crack the top 10 at the Mr. O, then you better look for a 2nd job aside from whatever sponsorship you have cause you'll need the money! Trust me iv talked to alot of pro's and a few who compete in the Mr. O, and they may look all good on the outside, but on the inside they are hurting. And to me to see that is sad, that our sport has to be like that.
