Bob looked incredible there, too bad the bodies don't look like that anymore the sport would be a lot more popular if they did, he doesn't look like he's aged even 5 years since then.

I think these announcers make up a bunch of random facts when they talk about the bodybuilders. For example, Bob didn't make it for the OLYMPIC BODYBUILDING TEAM? Since when did we have an OLYMPIC BODYBUILDING TEAM. Also, FLEX WHEELER WAS A DEPUTY SHERIFF before the age of 24? I may be wrong but when the hell was Flex a fuckin deputy sheriff? These assholes are just making shit up! >:(

That was the 3rd national show in that same year...trying to get that pro card.

I was pretty burnt out by the time the Nationals came around...back then we beat ourselves into the ground getting ready for shows...
1 hour of cardio a day...starting 12 weeks out! Then it was 2 hours a day, the last 4-6 weeks....crazy.
split training sessions in the gym...bodyparts TWICE a week. It wasn't even a consideration to train a bodypart ONCE a week back then, you would have been called a pussy and thrown out of the gym...
Depletion of carbs for 10 DAYS prior to carbing up for 3 days...lolol..wonder we had ANY muscle on stage come show time...
Those were the days my friend..I thought they'd never end.....

for reals? hes a short guy well 6feet not that short im 6feet6 and comparable, i thought he was natural. im going to start competing then, in about 3 weeks ill have totally shredded glutes and hams, then im going to make a living off of competiting

i figured out how to lose 3 pounds of fat perday with 1.5 hours of cardio on low calories, but ofcourse everycouple days i screw up and eat alot so i make up for ith with extra cardio on top of that, all of the biking is really bringing out the ripps

IMO, IF you are serious you got to be consistant, screw ups wont get you ripped.

Dam I hope no one ever doubts your love for bodybuilding - it payed off for you in the long run though - looks like you are set up pretty nice now, what ever happened to the 1992 Olympic bbing team? I know you were an American Gladiator for a while but was it hard to keep steady cash flow coming in during that time and living in exspenive ass west LA?

those were incredible show's all the classes were stacked with future pro's every year,great quality.chic had amazing potential and development at that age,and great poser too.he deserve's all the success's in the bbing world ,he fought for them and was beaten by some great amateurs before he turned pro.at least he 's not and old 80's type hasbeen,he look's current and aged to the times easily.

I know whats up with that? In general there use to be way more bodybuilding stuff on tv. American Muscle, Muscle mania, and few others that were on regularly, I don't think there is anything on right now, that I know of. I don't know with "drugs" being so evil right now I don't see it making a come back.

It's true. Bob looks almost exactly the same now.
It is the nice thing about bodybuilding, you actually get better with age. He looks better now, more muscle maturiy or whatever you call it.

How would I know?? This was waaaaaaaay back...and I was just an amateur trying to get my pro card, I knew nothing of the inside workings with reguards to getting BB in the Olympics.

Well I guess you got a point no net back then and you had to wait for month until the mags came out with the pics from the shows. But I thought it might have been big talk around the gyms when the word came out that there was no Olympic bbing team.

I remember back then it was Ben Weider's dream to have BB recognized by the Olympic committee. He felt that was validation that BB was a true sport. The Olympic committee was hesitant because of the steroid stigma associated with BB. Ben was trying to get a team together to demonstrate the sport of BB but the Olympic committee never went for it and BB never became an exhibition event which is the first step to getting recognized. As a natural BB when I heard of the Olympic team I also got excited about it. When it fizzled out I decided to go for the Universe Team. When I saw what the testing was like at the TU I decided not to do it again.

I promoted a natural show in Florida and a guy that failed my drug test was on stage at the Team Universe in my weight class ::)

I remember very few "best lifts" but I did do a 365 incline barbell press for 5 reps completely by myself then a little help on 6 and 2 more forced reps. I stopped squatting when I could get 405 for 10 because my lower back would get a painful pump so I switched to hacks and leg press. My best leg press was 11 plates on a side (Flex brand) for 6+ reps and I could hack 6 plates a side on the hack squat. This is at 5'8" and about 195.
