Title: 44 pounds of mass in 10 weeks?
Post by: RockinAR on February 11, 2007, 01:58:01 PM
A guy on a another board (non fitness related) is claiming to be the 1995 EAS Body for Life winner.

Here's his claim...

"The best documented steroid tested results I can show you right now is when I won
the EAS/Body For Life competition. I went from 177lbs and 10% body fat to 221lbs and 8.5% in 10 weeks.
That's a gain of 44lbs while losing 1.5% body fat at the same time.

It may seem impossible to you, and it IS impossible for YOU, but not for me.
Let me explain.

I used to be a competitive heavyweigth bodybuilder. I was 260lbs of muscle when I was in my early 20's.
The body has muscle memory, and something that took years to build up the first time, can be recovered
in just a few weeks or months."

I can't find anything on the net about a 1995 winner. The EAS site only show 1997 and up. Anyone prove or disprove this claim??

Being that it's from EAS, I wouldn't give it too much thought. They're the American MuscleTech.

If all the shit this guy said was true, your question is answered in the post. If he was a 260 lb competitive bodybuilder before he did this challenge, with drugs , and proper diet, it could be done. There is such a thing a muscle memory. Look at Kevin Levrone. He shrunk in the offseason, but got all his gains back once he hit the sauce, and started training hard. He could do this because the base he built for years with hard training, and juice. His muscle was previously  established.

If this guy had the base he says he did, and hit the sauce, what he claimed is possible. Without the base, No way. Totally impossible, even if you are on juice.

I agree. And I also agree with the "with the sauce" part. No way he did it natural.

the change in fux from his win at the words to his pro debut back in 96 was shocking.

the original claim in this thread is impossible without roids, btw.

From what I recall, the video "Body Of Work" was shot in 1997, and had Shawn Phillips on the cover. It was a documentary following 10 (ten) winners not a single winner. Bill couldn't decide which person should deserve his Lamborghini, so he sold it and gave all ten of them Corvettes.
The film, being shot in 97, was the first contest Bill held, and later developed into his full line of "Body Of Life" products, articles, and so forth.
I remember three of the guys in the movie, were accused of using juice. One was Jeff Seidman, another was Anthony something or other (black guy from NY), and the last was an older guy named Everett or something. None of them were too big, with Seidman being the biggest. But in no way was he ever near 260, and I don't think he competed.
Whoever the poster was/is, I think he's full of shit. >:(

it's possible with muscle memory.

Yep, casey viator gained 63 lbs of lean mass in one month when you count up the drop in bodyfat, and lean mass gains.  Google Colorado Experiment and Viator.  They have some before and afters.

Come on 63lbs in 1 month, you dont really believe that crap do you....muscle tissue it took dorian yates 13 years to gain that much, 60lbs [Blood & Guts] with: "good" genetics handed down, good diet, consistent training, and yes, steroids i presume...look @ the arnold shots -- 9 year difference. thats still 9 years between the photos and he is still undergoing changes in the last photo [1975, Pretoria]
44 Pounds of "mass" in 10 weeks might be believeable - mass is anything, fat, water, muscle tissue .. find it here forum.bodybuilding.com/photo

Do you know what muscle memory is? When casey accomplished this feat ( which is all documented, look it up) He had already established his base. He was injured and shrunk all the way down to a measly 180 lbs ( from his normal ripped 225 competition weight) Casey hit the sauce hard, and trained his balls off. Began to eat his normal intake again etc etc. Casey got to where he was previously in one month. His net gains where legit. Check out the expirement. What you are saying about Dorien is different. It took Yates 13 years to gain his "base", of whatever weight he was during blood and guts. If Yates was to quit working out, lose a ton of his muscle,  hit the sauce hard, and train his balls off, it would all come back very quickly. You are mistaking muscle memory for building new muscle. Casey was not gaining 60 new lbs of muscle. He was putting on all the muscle that he lost. Whole different ball game.

What Casey did, is what what Levrone did before every Olympia. If Casey was 225 ripped before he was injured,  then he trained his balls off, did his normal cycle, what he accomplished is possible for a person with amazing genetics, like casey had.

Ok, I didnt know this. I thought he meant Casey Viator had already been training consistently and suddenly gained an additional 63lbs...im wondering if it's documented you could post the link here then...And who is it documented by?!! Thats very important

That is what I figured. I thought the same before I realized Casey was putting on size he had already gained. Still a feat, but believable if he was not eating, training, and taking teh sauce for months.

Here you go

OK its a pretty good read, like he said, "It should be clearly understood that neither of the subjects was an "average" subject, and there is no implication that subjects of average or below average potential will all produce equal results from a similar program of exercises." The first thing you should do is ask yourself what has the person to gain..I can't really see any advertisements or anything subtle like that..

Another interesting point:
For example, during the first l4 days, Viator gained 28.93 pounds, a daily average of 2.06 pounds. During the next 3 days, he gained 3.92 pounds, a daily average of 1.3 pounds. During the following 5 days, he gained 6.09 pounds, a daily average of 1.2 pounds. And during the final 6 days, he gained 6.34 Pounds, a daily average of 1.05 pounds.

So it is clear that his "rate of gaining was slowing down at the end of the experiment . . . but it is equally clear that his actual growth was very steady.

Thanks

No problem  :D  I agree, Viator was about the best genetics wise, you could get.

With drugs that is easily possible.

I was able to put on 60 pounds of mass with my first cycle of gear.

Was like 130 lbs (138 on creatine) hardgainer clinically starving for my height and age group....

Took about 1500 mgs to 2000 mgs of roids a week and with an all you can eat diet consisting of 6000-8000 calories, over 400-500 grams of protein a day a ton of carbs a bit of fat. Was up to 200 after 12 weeks.  It wasn't all completly lean probably increased my body fat % by 10% . Once you subtract the additional water weight and increased fat content the overall the lean muscle gain was still in the 30 pound range.

Never been able to repeat the results, think it was only possible because of the small untrained size my body was in, to make should a dramatic shift.  Also, I'm too worried about getting fat to really pig out like I did back then think my metabolism has slowed down a lot since then.

You didn't need that much gear to make good gains on your first cycle...and you sure didn't need that much protein...nowhere close. You had the most expensive turds in town.

LoL, yes and no gtbro1.

Yes for a first cycle that was quite the extreme might have been doing over 2000mgs who knows, was popping and sticking any and everything I could.  For my weight, heck, 600-800 mgs would have been enough for a decent cycle, but I really don't think I would have gotten the results that I did.  I was working out from 2-4 hours a day and putting on weight by the lbs each day.  My arms grew from like 9 inches to 16 inches in 12 weeks.  A 60 lb or greater gain in 12 weeks was only able to occur from such high dosages.

And to respond to the food dosage.  I used to be a hardgainer If I wasn't consuming over 4000 -5000 calories a day I would lose weight.  I would eat like 4 whoppers a day just so I could keep my calories high enough so that I wouldn't lose weight.  So I don't think the protein dose was too high at all.  My protein synthesis was increased from the high dosage of roids and obviously was being used to the highest potential it could be.  Made sure always had food in my body made sure to eat till I felt like I was going to puke, kept my body in an anabolic state 24/7 never a recession of calories.  Now that is how you truly bulk

here's my opinion on this:

Joe average could never in a million years put on 44lbs of "mass" in 10 weeks.  By mass I mean lean muscle tissue.  Never.  Sorry but 99.9% of the guys on this board would never be able to do this-with or without roids.

The only people who could ever hope to achieve results like this would have to be buys that are almost pure mesmorphs, in that they would have to have those broad ass shoulders, small waist and extremely long muscle bellies.  Plus they would have to know exactly what they were supposed to be eating.  They would have to be training heavy and hard as hell and if they decided to do roids they'd have to know exactly what they are doing there also.

Realistilcally the only guy who I can think of who could have done something like this is Viator, he has the perfect type of body to achieve these kind of results, he's almost a pure mesporph and he has some of the thickest and longest muscles ever.  The training he did with Arthur Jones was brutal-I've read countless articles about these sessions and they are awsome.  Did Viator do it naturally?  C'mon now, don't be niave.

I consider myself to have decent genetics and after being in "cruise" mode for a couple of years I went balls out last summer starting at the end of july, I trained harder and heavier than ever.  130lbs db's, maxed out the hammer row machine...just busted my balls and ate like a f'n horse and I got 12lbs in 10 weeks, could someone else do better?  Sure they could but let's assume that I'm the average or a little above average and all I got was 12lbs of LBM, do you honestly think anyone could triple my gains?  No way.
