i think the pens youth will hurt them. the majority of their talent is in young players who have no playoff experience. ( crosby,malkin,stall,fleury )

im not saying that it applies to ever player their first time in the playoffs, but it is true for most...especially when they are young.
and yes its still hockey but its a whole other level. you ask anyone whos ever played in the nhl and they will tell you that playoff hockey is a different breed...faster,harder hitting, more intense. and when youre a young rookie sometimes it can be a bit overwhellming
the pens were a good example of that last night. look at crosby,fleury and malkin....you could see they were nervous and were not ready. im sure they will bounce back and play better VERY soon(especially crosby) but they were off last night for sure.
anyways................. .... i think buffalo and detroit are gonna kick some ass tonight. i got 4 sabers in my pool so they better :D

wings destroyed calgary yesturday, the 4-1 was not really a reflection of how bad they beat the flames, they just put on a clinic. Wings had a 5 on 3 in the 3rd and just kinda played around with the puck, they could have ran up the score but didn't. wings out shot them, out hit them out everythinged them....it was great.

a wings/sabres final would be spectacular.....Buffalo held ny to barely any shots on goall......i know the first period the isles only had one!

anybody been watching the ottawa-pittsburgh AND san jose-nashville series. they have been unbelievable. if you like fast, hard checking, high scoring games youll love these series. the first 2 games of each have been incredible.

the penguins might win 1 more but this series is basically over. ottawa is just a better team right now and out playing them.
vancouver is looking good too...if it wasnt for luongo it would be a different story though
anaheim got outplayed big time tonight.....but they will come back and win the next one and end the series.
calgary finally showed up and had a good effort. detroit didnt play well. detroit should win this in 5 or 6
and again i could care less about the NYR-ATL series....but someone is getting their ass handed to them ;D

As I speak there are 4 mins left and it's 3-0. I know the Pens are young and I was happy they even made the playoffs after last year but they've still been very disappointing in this series.

like i said earlier here, theyre a great team with some great talent...but theyre young and obviously werent prepared for what the playoffs are like. ottawa outplayed them BADLY

flames are gonna have to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror this offseason and face the facts about the team they really are after giving up that man shots to Detroit in that series a goalie who can stop 50 shots a game is fucken great but you don't want to have to depend on that game in game out :-\ i say keep kipper but there may be some big names on the way out from Calgary

series is not over yet. Sabres WILL win...mark my words. The Rangers have brought their A+ game against the Sabres D- game and have BARELY eeked out a few wins (one in double OT). Sabres bring their game up, and there is NO shot in hell the Rangers will do it.

at the start of the playoffs i would have agreed with you. but now i think ottawa will win. they havent really played one bad game yet this post season. but buffalo has yet to give their all. if they finally do then it will go 7 games and i dont know who to pick

Injuries have really hurt the Detroit D but...Chelios is playing like a man possessed and he's in fantastic shape for his age. If the wings can roll 4 lines I don't think the ducks can hang. Problem is once one line gets hot another cools off. Get Bertuzzi, Lang, Caulder and guys like that all going at once and it'll be really intersting. Plus you've got hasek who's capable of almost anything.

I'm a longtime Detroit fan, but have not forgiven the signing of Bertuzzi (who joined the team while I was boycotting the NHL).
Hasek has played really well this postseason, so props to him for keeping it together. The loss of Schneider hurts, but I think the Wings still defeat Anaheim.
They'll have a lot of trouble against Ottawa or Buffalo, though.

sens win first game 5-2, that was a little shocking. they interviewed Hasak on a local show and I didn't even realize if the wings win Hasak HAS to play one of his former teams, it would be most interesting if the wings played the sens cause I think there would be more bad blood towards him in that series.

ya im sure everybody is surprised at how mediocre theyve been. at the start of the playoffs i thought buffalo would easily be in the final. but now, no way. they just arent playing like they are capable of...and ottawa is playing awesome. no way can buffalo win 4 out of the next 5 games.

Chelios and others lost their composure when it counted, not the sign of a good team. In part could've been fatigue. Allowed key mistakes at the very last minute. Including a penalty that contributed, the inexusable failure to clear the puck in the last minute, allowing a deflection off a defenseman's stick for the tying goal and of course the insane loss of the puck in front of Hasek in OT.
Thus at home they blew it and their season's likely over.

i couldnt agree with you more and i have been saying it for years. 30 teams is just too many. drop it down to around 24.
but actually right now theres talk about 2 expansion teams within a few years.... Vegas and Kansas City. i was just watching(like 5 mins ago) a sports show on tv where they were talking about it and the hosts say its likely a done deal.

There's serious dilution in all major sports, to greater extents in some. Hopefully, eventually they'll get the message to reduce the numbers but the incentives seem to be in the opposite direction.
Seems Ottawa doesn't have the killer instinct, from day one as a team. In order to improve they'll either have to toughen up or get so much better talent-wise that it won't matter.
