Title: Bison Meat
Post by: lilmyth1 on April 24, 2007, 12:50:37 PM
Just a quick question...

Who eats it in their regular diet? Would this be a great addition for a cutting diet? My thoughts are yes, just wanted other's thoughts...

Thanks in advanced

Great addition to your diet, cutting or otherwise.  The problem is whether you can get it at a decent cost.  If $ is no object, go for it, add ostrich and elk too.

add venison too it only cost me about oh i'd say 15 dollars for 120-175 pnds of it depending on how big the deer i kill is. btw thats the license cost and the one bullet at 50 cents to drop it.

I'll get it when I can find it on sale. It's good stuff but if you over cook it, it ends up really dry.

I eat buffalo as my red meat. It's all I eat for red meat. Buffalogal.com is usually where I buy my bison. They usually have meat packages where you get ground buffalo, various cuts of bison steak, buffalo bacon, etc, etc. It comes in the mail, it a dry pack cooler. I've also bought from Buffaloguys.com but they're a little more expensive. Supermarkets here in RI have just started selling 1lb ground bison but that's about it. I use it as taco meat, hamburgers etc. Above poster is right though. Have to get used to cooking bison. Cooks in half the time as it has much less fat than cow. Elk is good to. Haven't tried the ostrich yet but did bring some back from Aruba(the have an ostrich farm down there so figured I'd give it a try)......
