Just learned that Ron, a man I do business with who is also a friend, was diagnosed with sarcoma.  Inoperable.  He is terminal.  Going through chemotherapy and praying for a miracle.  He is a good man.  We're praying for a miracle.  Please pray for him.

I want to publicly thank God for answering my daily prayers over the past eight months.  My closest friend and confidant was in Iraq.  Just returned home safely this week for good.  His son is still there.  I'll continue to pray for him.

Please pray for our men and women in combat.  They making a tremendous sacrifice.

Great news about the baby Stella.  God must be paying attention to me.   :D

Ron is in Washington state at a wellness center going through some kind of holistic detox.  He'll be coming home soon to start his chemo.  He is remarkably upbeat.  He's handling it better than me.   :)  That's what men of faith do (which doesn't say much for me).  Thanks for asking.

Hey usmokepole - Here is the link to the site:  http://www.cleansingway.us/  He's going through six session.  Just went back for his second session.  There is information about the program on the site.  I'll get more information from Ron about his experience there.

I just spoke to Ron and he's doing great.  He has lost 40 pounds (the good way).  He decided to forego chemo and radiation and is doing 3 weeks on, 1 week off at this Cleansing Way program.  They have radically changed his diet.  He is drinking 160 ounces of water, 140 ounces of tea/juice, and 20 ounces of raw vegetable soup a day.  Walking 3 hours a day.  Sleeping 8 hours a night.  Eliminated sugar and all processed foods from his diet.  Said he has never felt better.  He has an MRI next week Tuesday to determine whether the tumor has been growing, shrinking, or remained the same.

He wants me to come spend a few weeks with him before he's done in October, but I don't think I can make it.  I'm going to look into the program and see if I can do three weeks next summer.

One of my co-workers was recently let go and the timing couldn't have been worse.  He's in the middle of a very nasty dispute with his estranged wife, who doesn't want her two sons, but doesn't want to help pay for their upbringing either.  It's my hope that they will reconcile and more importantly that my co-worker will lean on God's understanding.  He's been struggling in his faith while trying to raise his two boys on his own.

Thanks for asking.  Ron has had mixed results.  He has completely changed his diet and lifestyle.  His numbers are great.  Aside from the pain being caused by the tumor, he feels terrific.

The problem is the tumor has continued to grow.  Although he wanted to avoid any kind of drug therapy, he is now considering all options, because it is affecting his ability to walk.  He's currently in California being evaluated by a sarcoma expert to see if they can do some kind of radiation treatment.

We spent some time together a couple weeks ago and I'm a little concerned.  Although he said he feels fine, he did not look well to me.  Please keep him in your prayers.

I'm still interested in the program he went through and will probably try it at some point.

From "The Coach" from General Topics 11/20

"Early this morning my stepson, who turns 20 on Sunday and whom I'm close too, called me yesterday saying he was he had stomach cramps and was thowing up blood, I told to immediatly go to the ER, when he got there they ran some tests and said he had some perferations in the lining of his stomach wall and that was causing the bleeding. They sent him home and he texts me about 1:30am and when he went to the bathroom he had blood in is stool, again, I told him to get back the the ER and I would meet him there. He said don't worry about it and he would call me later.

He finally calls me at 5:30am and after extensive tests came to the conclusion that he was on the verge of cirrhosis of the liver along with the stomach bleeding, it gets more nerve racking.........while the were running the tests they find a tumor on his kidney, he went for more tests today and a biopsy is scheduled for later on this weeks, the ultra sound showed that it was a tumor about the size of a gum ball and since the tumor was hard and not soft like a cyst, it's more than likely cancer, needless to say I'm pretty devastated right now, but I'm reaching out to everyone for prayers for him.........even if you don't believe in God or prayers thoughts would be nice."

"...........Thanks for your prayers guys, I really appreciate it. Worst case senerio he will lose his kidney but not his life....but still, of course it's hard, after the tests are confirmed (Dr's prepared him for the probable results) he will be going back to Chicago to the Mayo Clinic for treatment and to be with his dad."

beach bum if he is interested in alternative therapies i would suggest he try Gerson therapy, and add a few supplements to his regimen.

tumeric
and high dose lacctoferrin which is a proven cancer killer.
i woud also do IV vitamin c infusion
also adding a good mushroom blend with reshi, maitake, and shitake will have great effects. i cant go through the research with you but just search Lactoferrin AND cancer and you will get a ton of hits on pubmed.

http://www.gerson.org/

he is a perfect candidate for gerson therapy, and since this is extremely important to his life, i think he should look into it. as im only a student studying to be a doctor i cant offer much advice, but if i could be of any assistance i would offer what little help i could. i would suggest that he definitely look at the gerson stuff, and actually practice CAM or natural and pharma oriented medicines, this is all about the best chances for survival.

Thanks very much for the information.  The gerson therapy sounds like the Cleansing Way program he's gone through.  I'll pass all of this along to Ron.

The sarcoma expert said the tumor is too big for their radiation treatment (it's 11 centimeters).  He's almost about out of options.

i would try gerson, its world known, and not to be disrespectful much more reputable then what he has undergone.

huxley is also another method that may be worth looking at.

if he is running out of options, nothing is out of realm of possibility. keep him positive.

I remember i had a family member in Intensive Care Unit for 4 months, the best way for me to deal with that was Pray and train (Weights and cardio) and watch movies that make you laugh, It released anxiety, stress.

Hi everybody I had some bad news a few days ago, one of my best friends mom got diagnosed with cancer. The good news is they got it early and its on her pancrease so they are pretty much gonna remove half of it just to be safe and at this point dont see a need for chemo or any other precautions. If you could pray for her it would be greatly appreciated her name is Mrs. Bowman and she is one of the nicest people in the world. They have taken me on vacations with them every year for a week since me and my friend where about 13 and never asked for anything in return shes my second mother. :'(

Singer Steven Curtis Chapman's Daughter Dies in Tragic Accident    :o

Thursday May 22, 2008

Grammy-winning Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman suffered an unthinkable tragedy Wednesday when his 5-year-old daughter was killed in an accident involving her brother.

Chapman's youngest daughter, Maria Sue, was hit in the driveway of her family's Franklin, Tenn., home by an SUV driven by her teenage brother, the Associated Press reports. The brother, whose name was not released, apparently did not see the girl.

Several family members witnessed the accident, according to the AP. Maria Sue later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Laurie Holloway said.

"It looks like a tragic accident," said Laura McPherson, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol. No charges are expected.

"Just hours before this close knit family was celebrating the engagement of the oldest daughter Emily Chapman, and were just hours away from a graduation party marking Caleb Chapman's completion of high school. Now, they are preparing to bury a child who blew out 5 candles on a birthday cake less than 10 days ago," Chapman's manager Jim Houser wrote on a blog dedicated to Maria that was set up for condolences. "These words are unthinkable to type."

Longtime advocates of international adoption, Chapman and his wife adopted three daughters from China, including Maria, and have three biological children as well.

"After our first trip to China, my wife and I knew our lives were changing – our eyes and hearts were opening to how big God really is, and we have wanted to experience more of that," Chapman said on his Web site.

The singer also wrote a book about being a father titled Cinderella: The Love of Daddy and his Princess.

My friend w/the ovary had a 2nd cancer test that did not indicate cancer thank God.  The thing is she has a calcified cyst in that enlarged ovary (I previously thought it was the other one) and also she has fibroids.

The last we talked about it she said the fact that her ovary is jacked up it has a bigger chance of developing cancer.  I want it removed but that is my selfish opinion.  THey are going to have another ultrasound and exam in 6 weeks.  If it is not "better/smaller" but is the same or worse, they will schedule surgery for removal.  That is the latest update on that!

Thanks for everything tony :)

your welcome stella and thank you too

its ok blade, while its not quite clear as to why he was due in court the next morning on assualt charges with a possible 2-20 yrs if convicted but my brother was with him that night and said he seemed fine...he was a nice guy always sent my brother home with bbq for our family but always seemed to be getting in trouble in and out of jail, dwi, drugs and stuff the sad part is he had money coming to him from his mom when he turned a certain age enough to do something with himself and he had gotten married not to long ago.

Flower would like a prayer request for her friend Dennis who is losing his battle with cancer.

Dennis had breast cancer 2 years ago that has now spread and is untreatable.  He will be going to hospice later this week.  Dennis a man that is an honor to be called his friend.  He has a beautiful loving family who are just like him.  If there ever was someone who did not deserve this, Dennis is that person.  They are a family with faith, so please pray that they all find peace and can get through this.      Thank you.

And please remember that breast cancer is not just a female disease, so guys please do self exams, and ladies remind your men to do them.

Just learned that Ron, a man I do business with who is also a friend, was diagnosed with sarcoma.  Inoperable.  He is terminal.  Going through chemotherapy and praying for a miracle.  He is a good man.  We're praying for a miracle.  Please pray for him.

Un update on my friend Ron.  He lost over 80 pounds of good weight, but the cancer has spread.  He tried radiation, which shrunk the main tumor, but it has now spread to his lungs and abdomen.  He's going out on medical disability at the end of September to spend time with his family before he becomes completely disabled.  I will hate to see him leave but it looks like the cancer is taking over his body.  It's weird because he feels better than at any point in his life, except for the pain the tumor causes when he walks.  He also has an amazing outlook and is in high spirits.

Always strange that only wealthy Western people with cancer get prayers and the people whose entire existence has been living hell from cradle to grave get none here. Strange indeed.

I have none of the pretensions of moral superiority that Christians have, nor for that matter do I believe that prayers have an iota of effect on anything. There's as much evidence for their effectiveness as there is for birthday wishes made whilst closing your eyes and blowing out the candles, i.e. zero. But if people are going to believe in such things and claim the mantle of the virtuous Christian, they should be 'praying' for those whose entire lives, from cradle to grave, have consisted of nothing but pain, hardship, discomfort and endless struggle. There should be massive prayer requests for millions of people in subsaharan Africa; alas there is nothing of the sort to be seen. Why is your deity so concerned with some wealthy person from Hawaii or Florida and not with the many suffering people in the third world, if the desire and effectiveness of prayer are to be believed?

I merely wish to point out the selfcentredness and hypocrisy of many Christians, whose prayers (it can be readily inferred) tend to only concern themselves or some close affiliate of themselves.

Have you sensed pretensions of moral superiority from Christians on this board? Or are you basing this statement on more real life encounters?

But if people are going to believe in such things and claim the mantle of the virtuous Christian, they should be 'praying' for those whose entire lives, from cradle to grave, have consisted of nothing but pain, hardship, discomfort and endless struggle.

For a Anti-Christian you sure do love to talk bout prayers and Christianity.

Brother, dont worry bout it, just move on, If people want to pray and it helps them then so be it, your not going to be converting anyone here anytime soon.

Anyway, i thought you were making a thread of me on this board??

If anyone could please say a prayer for my Grandfather I would appreciate it.  He was moved to assisted living last week, but is probably going to move to hospice soon.  He is over 90, been married to my grandmother close to 70 years, has had a good life I think.  He has Alzheimer's which has progressed rapidly over the past week (I guess when your body starts to go it really kicks in), but doesn't appear to be in any pain or unhappy, so I hope he goes peacefully.  I worry too about my Grandma when he leaves, I don't think she will be far behind, but she too has had a good life.  We should all be so blessed.

  thanks.    :-[

Thank you Stells!   Him and my Grandma have had a good long life together so I am sad but also grateful that he will probably go peacefully.  I don't think him or my Grandma will have many complaints when they leave this world, and nowadays, I think that says a lot!

Sadly my almost 44 year old cousin, who's only thing she have ever wanted to be is a mommy, and after years of IVF and misscariages had a baby shower planned at the end of the month. My aunt told me a little bit ago, they are doing an emergency c-section and she's only 28 weeks. The doctor has informed her the baby will be small maybe 2 lbs or a bit more. They don't know what to expect. I just saw her 2 weeks ago and besides swollen feet all was good but little did anyone know the onset of preclampsia and now they both are at risks.

PLEASE PRAY for my cousin (her and I have the same name) and the unborn child who will be in for the fight of it's young life (noone knows the sex of baby, she didn't care)

okay AGAIN, what part of years of trying do you fail to understand. Obviously yes, that would of been her choice and FYI, I wasn't that young. I was 2 months shy of my 36th bday.

No need to reply, you don't get it. I just wanted prayers not to get into why she is having a child at her age or anything.

Well, for what's its worth, I hope her progeny survives.

thank you. Baby Boy was born weighing 2lbs 6 oz Saturday night. 15 inches in length, for 28 weeks, that is long. Most pre mature babies, have a hole over or near the heart that usually close up after a few days. Sadly, this hasn't happend. They are hoping within the next few days it does or surgery for the little man on friday.

Good news, he's crying like a banchee, which is a side of good strong lungs and is pink which is another good sign

A year later I got a temp job they told me it would be permanent but a week before christmas they let 6 of us go. I found a job only part time in a firm and times were getting tough but for the past month, been at a great job, with great benefits. Right now unlimited OT and can work after or before hours from home via remote access so I'm thrilled. Still learning the job but love it and actually like the people I work with. Sure I have to commute and that's time away from nugget during the week, but I hope she'll understand someday.

Lots of prayers and good thoughts. I know it's tough, been there

pray to the universe, call it god,  and ask for it help every single living being in all of existence to become happy, loving, good, and present in his kingdom.  do not ask for any favors for any specific person, do not ask for any specific things, simply put your heart into the universe(god) and pray that it take care of us ALL.   truly, i believe this is the most potent prayer possible and no other prayer should ever be used.

Thx!!

Folks, there's a member of BB.com named Market_Pantry who sounds like he could use prayer:

I decided it was best to seek help with my fears of an upcoming operation. Accepting potential death. i could be ome retarded aand thats some scary ****. I'm numb to the though of death, but I'm scared shirtless of going under the knife coming out retarded or have my personality change... My likes and dislikes change ext. It'll be like I died and a new persons taken over my body. I can't start over with myself again Experimenting and getting new friends AGAIN. I hope I die on the table if either of these things are going to happen.

I have two prayer requests. But I'll be honest....one is strictly selfish of me.

1) Please pray that I can be 1) either find peace that I do not believe in a God or 2) find my way to believing that a God does exist

2) is something I "covet" if you will. Something I really really really truly want, but don't have, and probably never will. Like I said.....strictly selfish. But I think others have selfish prayers as well at times, don't they?

Ridiculous to say the least. Sex and companionship are completely different things. You have obviously never experienced true loneliness. Of course he can just go have some sex but that's not what he wants or needs.

His prayer request has nothing to do with sex.

Actually, it is part of my motivation. But Paul said in Corinthians that everyone should have a spouse so that we're not burning with lust all the time.

After unsuccessfully praying and hoping and yearning for a childfree mate for three years and getting incredibly emotionally maligned by the lack thereof, I think I've turned the corner and God is finally "taking the cup" from me. The days of envying couples at the movie theater and frequenting Christian Mingle are over. I think I'm gonna try to be more active in the Men's Rights/MGTOW movements, because after doing some research, I'm starting to realize that the vast majority of women aren't worth this much effort.

I made a small fortune when I dumped all my 1,000 shares of Netflix stock a few months back, and financial security is nice. Marriage would put one hell of a dent in it. I bought a nice silver 2008 Mustang a few weeks ago and I wanna make the trip to Glacier Park that I've been thinking of for the past few years. Life is good. So is being a red-blooded American Christian man.

There's not a thing wrong with being a gorgeous, striated, 700lb benchin, single, red-blooded American Christian man!!  Remember Paul's words to the church at Corinth....he wished that all could be single like him.  The implication being so that they could more fully serve our Lord.   Still, if it's within God's will for your life then you'll meet that woman you're supposed to marry.  Until then delight in the Lord daily, count your blessings, keepin hittin the weights like a savage beast, wait on God's will for your life and keep lookin hunky!

God bless!!

As you probably already know, DOMA was struck down. My favorite minister John Hagee predicted that we could "kiss this country goodbye" if gay marriage became the law of the land. I can't disagree with him.

I firmly believe that we should follow Christ's instructions in Luke 10:2 to pray for more people to be anointed by The Holy Spirit so that our faith and prayers might temper or postpone God's righteous indignation with our country.

this dude has freewill, he going to do what he wants, we all do,  you will be praying for strength, so you will be ok no matter the result. I hope this makes sense, I think MOS may know what I mean.

Its like when someone close dies, we pray so that were strong enough to deal with it.

Nothing went wrong.  The man that passed was used by God to bring others into relationship with him and unite a small family, friends and community like never before.  In the midst of what we perceive as tragedy the Lord used the situation to bring glory, but often times we don't perceive or understand God's hand at work until the dust settles and we can meditate on the situation.   the unbelieving world perceives death as the end...from chaotic stardust we were formed and back to a state of dust and chaos we will return.  believers know better....death for believers is merely the passage into God's eternity so the act of death is understood differently.   out of tragedy does God bring tremendous healing and loving change, but the unbelieving world only grasps the tragedy and when they're told there's more to situation than they understand they scoff.

So why pray for _____ result at all if God is going to do what God is going to do?

Hey BS....good read!

Dave’s comments presuppose that God has predetermined a path for our lives according to his will.  Dave is correct.

As Dave concludes:  “Either your prayer is against God's will and therefore won't happen because you can't change his mind, or your prayer is according to God's will but doesn't make a difference because God's will would have been carried out anyway. Prayer is pointless. It's a waste of time.”

Appears to be sewn up pretty neatly.

Dave also suggests that God’s perfection has predetermined the best possible outcome for our lives.  Dave is correct again.

As Dave suggests our prayers are merely recommendations that are only valid if they agree with God’s preset choices because anything less than God’s preset choice is a step in the wrong direction.

Ultimately Dave blames God’s perfection and omniscience because he feels it invalidates the act of prayer rendering our prayers meaningless.

God is omniscient and has a will for each of our lives and chronologically that foreknowledge precedes our future choices, but the world he created takes into account our future choices and allows for his will and our will to be accomplished within the same perfect creation.  Now certainly only God’s will for our lives and our will for our lives can only be fulfilled simultaneously if they agree, but still God’s will for our lives takes second fiddle to our own will for our lives if they don’t agree.

God desires that we desire his will for our lives, but he honors our choice to defy his predetermined will.    In essence, just because God is omniscient and has a predetermined will for our lives doesn’t mean his will is pre-executed.  We can easily defy his will for our lives.  For example, Jesus Christ desires that we all come to accept him as our Lord and Savior, but I’m gonna guess that the atheists and agnostics on Getbig aren’t going to gives their lives to Christ again today.  That said, God’s predetermined will for our lives still exists, but has been defied.  As Dave stated, God’s mind isn’t going to change either, but that doesn’t mean his will for our lives is going to come to fruition ….we can prevent it.

So why pray?

The main reason I can think of to pray is that Jesus Christ told us to pray and later the apostle Paul affirmed that we should pray (without ceasing) according to that which was revealed to him by Jesus Christ.

A second reason to consider praying is that while Jesus Christ came as the incarnate Son of God on earth and assumed a limited human form that he prayed to God the Father for guidance and strength as an example of how we should seek him in our own lives.  If prayer was appropriate for the Son of God then it’s appropriate for me…..God set the standard.

Another reason to pray is because believers are engaged in a personal relationship with the Almighty and relationships are two-way streets.  How many successful relationships involve only one party engaged in communication with the other?  None that I’ve ever known of.  This is our opportunity as believers to consistently remain connected with our Lord and Savior and experience the tangible presence of the Holy Spirit (not the only way to feel the Holy Spirit's presence, but a powerful way).

A third reason to consider is that the act of prayer is not for God’s edification, it’s for ours (God doesn't need our prayers).  Prayer is a means by which we as believers can strengthen our faith.  Prayer is our opportunity to draw closer to God, to feel his presence via the Holy Spirit, to worship and to seek his will.  As believers our will for our lives should always match God’s will for our lives.  Almost every day I pray and I ask God that he reveal himself through me to others and that his will be done in my life.   I pray that I am able to recognize his fingerprints and guidance along the way to ensure that he will is being accomplished and that I’m not a hindrance.  As Dave already suggested, God’s will for our lives is perfect and anything less than that is a step in wrong direction.

A fourth reason to consider prayer is that despite the fact that God doesn’t change his mind about his will for our lives this doesn’t necessitate his inability to intervene supernaturally to right the course of our lives while remaining in complete harmony with his preset will for our lives…..he is God afterall.  How does he accomplish this?  Wish I could tell you LOL.

There are more reasons to pray that I'm not mentioning, but this is a first blush explanation.

hmmm.. interesting that you advocate praying because Jesus said to pray, but you don't follow his teachings on how to pray and support public prayer at sporting events and government ceremonies.

In short, the gist of Christ's instruction is about humility and reverence in prayer.

Don't be like the Pharisees praying with all their pomp and circumstance so as to show off in front of the masses.  Instead, make the prayer about God and your relationship with him....seeking his will for your life.  Praying privately reinforces the idea that the focus is off you and on God because there is no audience other than God.  Christ did pray publically, but chose to pray privately for the most part.  The idea is the connection between the saved and their savior....the focus should be on the savior not the saved.

Grandiose displays of public prayer is often nothing more than pious grandstanding at its finest....it becomes about the individual praying and not the Lord.  Although, it is completely possible for someone to pray in a public setting and the focus be completely upon Christ.

anything else you have questions about or find interesting?  basically anymore "hmmmmm" moments I can assist with?  I'm here to serve.  :)

Where'd these "unbelievers" come from all a sudden?

There are ONLY believers, remember? You cleared this up a while back. God reveals the truth of His existence to every living soul, even the remote, flesh-eating savage in New Guinea. Everyone, you said. So one can maybe reject God, but not believing is sorta impossible. The way you explained it, anyway.

Seems believing may be impossible, too, though. Or at least unnecessary. After all, divine revelation = knowledge. And who needs belief, Mr. Steel, when

This is a very important piece by the work of the jesus chatline. A must watch. I was scrolling through some extremely intellectual and chilling passages by many pastors and was fortunate enough to stumble across this masterpiece. Let me know what you guys thank. Thanks guys.

Well using the term unbeliever essentially softens and substitutes the reality in that these folks are God hating, suppressors of the truth of his definite reality that don't want to abandon their sin and accept any accountability for their actions as it pertains to God.

It's akin to an addict that refuses to recognize the reality and gravity of their situation and instead suppresses the truth and feigns a position of ignorance ("I don't have a problem so there's nothing that needs fixing.")

So in their suppression these folks form a body of "unbelievers".  They force unbelief via suppression despite inherently knowing the truth of God's reality.

Ignorant work of a God hating mocker.

Listen up chief, if you wanna continue on this board you'll check yourself or I'll wipe out every single post like this.

Done it before and will HAPPILY do it again.  I don't put up with stuff like I used to.

All the best!
