Gunter, Matthias Hues, Ralf Moeller,Mike O'Hearn.

They're all more suitable as He-man than Prad Bitt.

Brad Pitt is a little c u n t... I am an 80's child and I used to watch He-Man. I refuse to see a He-Man movie that makes him look like a skinny queer with a permanent dildo stuck up his ass.

either way it should be an unknown to the public. hence it's got to be either gunter or o'hearn! they both look the part, both have some acting experience  and screw the american public if the producers think either gunter or mike is too big for the role. gimme a break! it's He-Man get the name for christsake! besides whose the audience for this movie anyway. that's who the producers should be thinking off during casting! he-man isn't supposed to appeal to a broad audience like spiderman, superman or batman. and i doubt if the budget is going to  be blockbluster money big anyway.

the audience for a he-man movie would be guys interested in seeing a huge kick butt actor (gunter or o'hearn) and for women into huge muscle, the little boys who like comic books with their gigantic superheroes drawn that way  and yes, i guess it has to be said gay men.

false rumors.  Don't get too excited about it.

It's not a false rumor I spoke with someone from show business, involve in the project (off record ) he told me that they're talking with Pitt....

Producers think that Pitt is da' man or no movie.........that's what he told me anyways.

I am skeptical, but after the way Hollywood has screwed up TransFormers, I wouldn't be surprised by ANY casting.

Hell, most folks think Pitt was "huge" in Troy...

in all fairness, can anybody think of a good idea why we should make a "new" He man movie?
Everything has to be redone in these days, Hollywood is running out of ideas and their answer to this is to reinvent every fucking good movie that was marginal successfully in the past..fuck that.
You know you are getting older when you sit through the Movie ads and they show the "new" upcoming movies and you know half of them already...since they are just redone, last time I had that feeling was when I saw the ads to The Hitcher or the Hitchhiker
The old He man were and still are hilarious.

If this movie infact comes out, I can see Brad Pitt playing the role of He-Man pre transformed, then they should stick a marketable BB like Gunther in there for the serious stuff (kind of like how they used Lou in the hulk).  Since there is better voiceover technology and CGI they could get the voices to match seemlessly.  JMO and that is even if the movie makes it to production.

Gerard Butler also said he hated the training & never wanted to see a gym again after "300."  Also, Butler looks more like Man-at-Arms, one of the sidekicks of the show, than He Man (since He Man is a late teen).

Mainly because the 80s He-Man movie was more like Jack Kirby's Fourth World than anything related to masters of the Universe!

Also, there's a large, loyal fanbase.  Many of the 80s comic properties would be viable movie options, IF they're done right.  All of the kids that grew up with them are now adults w expendable income.

unlike any of the queefs you mentioned (wrestlers involved), Brad Pitt can actually act.  With today's movie magic, they can make Brad Pitt look like he's 300 lbs if they want to.  If he put on 40 lbs of beef (which i'm sure he can do, drugs or no drugs) he'd be fine.

Not like Dolph was a mountain of muscle.

Keep up your recommendations. I can assure you without a doubt that Hollywood (Producers, directors, casting agents) hit this Board frequently.

I also have to agree that Pit would not be an ideal He-Man or any other Super-Hero in fact. (Ahhh, might have been a great Silver Surfer though.)

But look what they did to Superman and it appears that the public accepted it.

If just one good looking yong bodybuilder ever took acting lessons, he would more than likely get a chance to be considered for many movie roles due to the current interest in Super-Hero movies.

But then again I was told that the average movie going US male will not take his date to a movie where the superhero looks better than himself. To me, that's a bunch of crock.

But one of the big rules in the movie business is to never cast an unknown actor based on his or her appearance. They say that casting is not a "fashion show". The first priority is that he or she has to "ACT" and be able to "Take Direction".

So..... if you got the look and the muscle, it could eventually pay big time to get out there and enter an acting school.

Addendum: The major stars do not want someone who looks better than them in the same movie that they are starring in. But there are exceptions such as when a bigger/better guy beats up the smaller "Star" in order to generate "sympathy" for the leading man. The old "bad guy" vs "good guy" ploy. There has been some of that in most every James Bond screenplay.

Pertaining to the topic at hand, I think that they should do a worldwide search for some deserving teenager who would fit the He-Man mold as per the original storyline and have a world class actor carry the movie as another character in the story ...... Sorry,  but I am not familiar with the He Man comic to say who that character should be. But the script could be written in an effort to take a lot of the acting requirements off the He Man character.

Lots of contradictions in the above but Hollywood can do wonders if it really wants to.

CASTING AGENTS/DIRECTORS? ---- Check out Evan Centopani

By the way ---- 3D is coming back in force so stand by to get hit in the nose by whatever this new technique throws at you from the silver screen. It could even be the fist of He Man.

I saw a Hercules movie with  Leelee Sobieski and this Scottish actor named Paul Tefler on the Sci-Fi channel.  I kinda liked it, and the dude was pretty jacked. I think he would need to put a few more pounds on for the role, but he is a decent enough actor and doesn't sound like a panse,

Gunter would be sweet though. I always thought Lee Priest looked the most Like the He-Man action figures but with all those tatoos I dont think they could make it work.... and the height.

Get Pitt on a cycle, 8-10 months of training, and I think he could pull it off.  He's got great genetics, just tends to always be on the leaner side.

On a side note, I think Gunter or even maybe Cutler would be truly inspired casting, the acting in the movie will be limited, and casting a bodybuilder has worked in the past....

They could use Lee (he had long hair before) and use same CGI like they did in LoTR to make Gandalf look huge and very tall next to Frodo  and the hobos etc.

Tattoos are easily covered with make-up or CGI.

His muscularity is He-man-esque though.

Jay Cutler would work too but i believe Lee would be a better actor, if he could get rid of the aussie accent.

Still, may be too much trouble with Lee and Jay, better get an established actor to do it, like Woody A or Danny D V.

As impressed as I was by Bradd Pitt's portrayal of Achillees in TROY, I really dont want him playing HeMan.  I think Gerard Butler would be great, but as someone else here implied, people would think too much about 300.

It is now 5 years later. I doubt the reboot will be made. Even the anniversary dvd with this featurette was cancelled.

Jon M. Chu Talks MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE; Says He Was "Blown Away" By The Script

Speaking with CeleBuzz, director Jon M. Chu discusses his upcoming reboot of the Masters Of The Universe franchise. Chu has previously directed a toy adaptation in the form of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which is currently going through the 3D conversion phase and will begin reshoots soon. The director says that he was skeptical about helming Masters Of The Universe, but he was "blown away" by the script and its approach, which he described as "fresh and unexpected". He also goes on to comment on how he connected to the script on an emotional level, which made him decide to take the job.

Additionally, Chu discusses how wide open the Masters Of The Universe franchise was for a film adaptation, and also says that he doesn't think about the 1987 MOTU film, which starred Dolph Lundgren as He-Man. Finally, the director can't comment on when he officially begins work on the reboot, and says that G.I. Joe: Retaliation is currently his top priority. For Chu's comments on how he was a fan of the MOTU toys since childhood, click the link below.

On Why He Decided To Direct Another Toy Adaptation After G.I. Joe: Retaliation:

"I was approached about doing a Masters of the Universe movie and while at first I was skeptical, I read the script and I was blown away. I had no idea what to expect but it was such a fresh, UNEXPECTED approach I was immediately intrigued. I never expected to connect on a human level to a MOTU movie but I really plugged in emotionally. That alone, got me excited to see what we could do with the property.

"MOTU is such a challenging puzzle to make into a movie that works to a contemporary audience but the script seemed to really crack it for me. I think people are really going to be surprised at the rich story we have the opportunity to tell in this world. Where you think MOTU goes left, the script goes right and it was just very clear to me this was something very special. It was never a conscious decision to do another “toy” movie but when I read this I couldn’t put it down. And I definitely couldn’t let anyone else make it but myself. It was just too much fun."

On How Wide Open He Feels The Property Is For Adaptation, And Whether Or Not The 1987 Film Is Inspiration:

"I feel like there’s a lot of room to crack open the Masters of the Universe story. We are still in our process and I think we have some great seeds planted but making one of these types of movies RIGHT takes a lot of TONAL tightroping so we’re just going to play for the next several months. Play with designs, play with the characters, try new things, maybe go too far on some things and pull back. The process is really important to find where the right line is so we can land right on it. I think that’s what can dig out the properties full potential for a cinematic rebirth.

"I don’t really think about the 80s movie when looking at this movie because the script here is so strong and so unique. I think the characters are so grounded and layered I never expected that in a Masters movie so to me it’s on a totally different level. Don’t get me wrong, I love the 80s movie for full nostalgic reasons but this script feels like it’s a totally different genre than that one."

On When He Begins Work On Masters Of The Universe:

"I can’t say exactly, but my first priority right now is still G.I. Joe: Retaliation. We are finishing the dimensionalizing of the film and I want the audience to be blown away by the 3D work we do in it so that takes a lot of my time and energy currently. It’s a lot of technical and creative stuff put together which I love. I can’t wait for people to see what we’ve done, finally!"

G.I. Joe: Retaliation is set to hit theaters March 29th, 2013.
