I think you can put up to 3 flavors together for your own special coffee.

I think French Vanilla and Cinnamon would be good too.  This one doesn't have a chocolate of mocha.   >:(

Do you like/drink coffee STella?    I used to have one cup daily then quit, and now I pick up an iced coffee about once a week.  I think I will just make my own.  You can even make coffee ice cubes so that when they melt the coffee doesn't water down.  I think you can buy the flavor squirts from Dunkin Donuts.

Almost the same as regular coffee 20 as compared to 15. The flavors can be made hot or iced.

Dunkin' Donuts flavor varieties are 100% sugar-free and contain no preservatives."

I totally LIVE on coffee, particularly iced coffee.  I couldn't make it through my contest prep without it.

Personally, I do not like the flavor shots.  I always thought they were loaded with sugar, but if that's not the case, then that's a good thing for people who do. I just dont really like the flavors.  Some of them are OK if you ask for them to go light on them...but they just overpower it sometimes.

I never count the calories associated with coffee, and It's one of the few treats I can have during my contest prep.  I just try to make sure to drink extra water.

My weaknesses are with the lattes.  DAMN I LOVE the Dunkins Iced Caramel Lattes.  They are SO bad for you, but soo damn good.

When Dieting, my favorite drink is the Starbucks Venti Five Shot Iced Americano with very little water and one pump of Sugar Free Caramel.  They usually use like 5 pumps in the venti drinks, but I like just a tiny little bit of flavor.

I think I am going to go get one of those right now.   ;D

A latte is espresso and milk.

An americano is espresso and water.

I must have developed a tolerance for caffeine b/c it never gives me the jitters.  Either that, or it just offsets my lack of energy while I am dieting.

Starbucks raises prices again
By Melissa Allison
(seattletimes.nwsource.co m)

Seattle Times business reporter

Next week, caffeine addicts will pay an average 9 cents more for a cup of coffee at Starbucks, partly because of the rising price of the milk and whipped cream.

The increase was unexpected, given how infrequently the Seattle chain has raised prices. The last increase, which averaged a nickel, came less than 10 months ago.

Before that, Starbucks hadn't raised prices since an 11-cent increase in 2004.

The company cited rising prices "inside the supply chain," including higher dairy, fuel and energy expenses.

Dairy costs, in particular, have hurt several of the nation's largest food companies in recent months.

Starbucks said last month it would have trouble reaching the high end of an 87- to 89-cent-per share profit range for fiscal 2007, largely because of rising milk costs.

Chocolate giant Hershey and milk processor and distributor Dean Foods have lowered their earnings guidance because of rocketing milk prices.

Starbucks' price increase goes into effect next Tuesday. While some customers shrugged at it, others bristled.

"If they raise it, I'm not going to go there, even if it's only 9 cents," said Mindy Albert of Wallingford.

It's not the money so much as the idea of two price increases in a row, she said. With Starbucks' buying power, "you'd think they'd be able to keep costs down."

The price increases will vary by region and drink. They apply only to brewed coffee and other beverages that baristas make behind the counter, and not to drinks sold in bottles.

Starbucks coffee continues to be cheaper than that of many independent coffee chains. A 12-ounce latte at Seattle's Espresso Vivace costs $2.95, compared with $2.45 at a downtown Seattle Starbucks.

Vivace hasn't raised its latte prices in a couple years, said manager Brian Fairbrother.

But the dairy situation is serious, he said.

"We will be watching our numbers closely, because it is real, it is up and it's a big part of our expense."

Starbucks doesn't disclose how much milk it buys for the lattes, Frappuccinos and other milk-heavy drinks it serves.

Dairy farmers received a minimum of $1.79 a gallon for drinkable milk in July, up 68 percent from December based on minimum prices set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Experts cite the higher price of feed and higher demand for milk.

Consumers have seen the impact at the grocery-store level. Whole milk cost about $3.80 a gallon in July, up 25 cents from June and 60 cents from December, according to a survey by an Agriculture Department agency.

Dairy farmers don't see most of the increase, said Amanda St. Pierre, a Vermont dairy farmer and member of Dairy Farmers Working Together, a nonprofit that wants dairy-price stability.

Eight years ago, dairy farmers received about 50 percent of the retail price of milk. Now they get less than 30 percent, St. Pierre said.

Retailers, including Starbucks, don't need to raise prices for short-term fluctuations in their dairy costs, she said. "When we get less for our milk, your prices don't go down," St. Pierre said.

This summer, Starbucks began switching the standard milk it uses in all its U.S. and Canadian stores from whole to reduced fat.

Because 2 percent milk costs less — about 10 cents a gallon less at retail — the switch could save Starbucks a lot of money. Officials will not say how much.

Starbucks shares rose 47 cents to $28.17 Monday. The price increase was announced after the stock market closed; shares fell a penny in after-hours trading.

Shares have traded between $25.22 and $40.01 over the past year. They are down 20 percent this year, clobbered partly by investors' worries about profit margins and Starbucks' warning that it might not reach the upper end of its annual profit target.

Nicole Miller Regan, an analyst at Piper Jaffray, which makes a market in Starbucks stock, called the price increase "a defensive measure."

"This is offsetting dairy, which is sky high."

Have you seen the cold brew system?

www.toddycoffee.com

It's great.  Cold brewing prevents the acids in the coffee from being released, so the result is much smoother and easier on the stomach.  The cold brew process takes 12 hours, and you are left with a pitcher of super concentrated coffee that can stay in your fridge for a week or more and can be used to make iced coffee, hot coffee, espresso, lattes, whatever...just depends on how much water and milk you add to it.

It's my favorite!

LOL!!!   That is why I kind of now prefer my homemade version.  Since I make it with regular strength coffee and not espresso or double brewed coffee I don't get that jittery hyped up feeling.  And the coffee icecubes allow it to stay cold without watering it down.  I put it in this nifty shaker I have and when you shake it up it gets this slurpee-ish texture kinda.   :)

I have the powder because I don't drink coffee regularly (or I didn't use to) and it would spoil.

Laura, just stir it real good, or put it in a shaker bottle.   I find it clumps to but a couple of good stirs and it is okay. The little clumps floating around don't bother me.     If I keep on my homemade iced coffee kick I might by the liquid.

I find that when I add the sugar free vanilla caramel coffeemate to my iced coffee it clumps up and never really disolves.  Pisses me off.  >:(

Too bad Laura does have one of these either...

It's a Synergy Blender bottle, and it has a patented stainless steel aerator coil inside.
It's marvelous for preventing clumping, and it makes everything froth up so creamy smooth.

No messy clumpy blenders to wash either. just put your ingredients in and shake... and voila... you're done.

I bet you'll like it so much that you should just use a toddy to make your own...it's more cost effective over the long-term, and you can make whatever flavor you want.

OH, here's a tip on the toddy....Be sure to grind the beans COARSE or else they will clog up the filter.

I might go the Toddy route.  The shipping on the cool brew is alot because they have to ship it quick so at least UPS Blue (2 day).

I have the Toddy on order.     :D

I think DD beats Timmy Ho's both in taste and value.  You can get a large DD for the same price as a medium Ho.      8)

I think DD's are stronger than Ho's too.

Right now I am drinking a blueberry DD with Splenda and vanilla almond milk (I add the almond milk myself).

Over the weekend I did have a Strawberry Shortcake Ho that was pretty good, and also a Mint Ho that I then added some carob powder to making it a mint chocolate Ho.   Yesterday I tried the Pumpkin Spice Ho but wasn't impressed.  (Splenda & almond milk added to all of them)

And that is my DD and Ho review!!            ;D

I just rec'd the email that UPS has been notifed that my Toddy is ready to come to me!!

They now have Low Carb Cafe Latte so I ordered some of that too!

  Low-Carb Caffe Latte
Toddy's Low-Carb Caffe Latte is cold brewed using premium espresso Arabica beans, Splenda® no-calorie sweetener, vanilla bean and a hint of cocoa butter. Now it’s OK to indulge!

Recipe: Mix 1 part concentrate, 4 parts Half & Half and 4 parts water. Shake and serve chilled over ice. For a blender drink: Mix 1 part concentrate with 3 parts Half & Half. Blend with 8 parts ice and serve chilled.

The biggest thing is to make sure you do Coarse Grind if you get your own beans.

You will love it!

THEN YOU PUT SLENDA CHEMICALS AND FAKE MILK AND PERHAPS SOME e FLAVOURS & colors IN IT & AN ICE CUBE OR TWO AND THEN ACTUALLY IMBIBE THAT CRAP ?

ok so coffee is somewhat addictive.

It's always been my favourite morning drug & I make sure to get my quota.  But you buy the freshly roasted Colombian or Java beans, grind them then pour near-not-quite-on-the-boil water over them (unless you're making expresso or have a cafetiere).

then real milk (from a cow? or better still, cream) and real sugar (preferably dark organic) to taste.

sugar is 16 calories a teaspoon, so you can have one or even two in your big mug of coffee.  milk is good for your bones, calcium, and you should use the full fat best you can get version.

Few dollars a week at home, first thing in the morning.

I learnt it in NY, they called it a whore's breakfast

I'm just using my past learnings.  Coffee (if you buy real coffee beans, not that chemical stuff you stir into boiling water) is a great drug when you wake up and smell it.

slenpda is chemical alternative.  & I've always stayed away from additives.  I don't know, maybe it's good for you and has no e numbers or chemical enhancers.  Maybe it has added fibre or some such shit.

I can't imagine a problem with or not enjoying real proper sugar in my authentic coffee, that's all

Thanks FLOWER!   I am assuming you did order the toddy home brew set up, right?  So you can brew your own?

I've never actually ordered any of their already brewed coffees, so you will let me know if they are any good.

I did get it!!!  I had ordered the Low-Carb Caffe Latte concentrate also so I haven't made any Toddy coffee yet myself.  I just sent them an email asking them how long the bottle is good for once you open it up. It doesn't say?   I also ordered that Iced Coffee concentrate I posted the info on about how to get a free bottle (just pay the shipping).  I think that has a shelf life too (possibly even before you open it??)  That should be here tomorrow.  So I am waiting for more info on these 2 items before I make my own.   If you don't open the bottle of the Low-Carb Caffe Latte it has a shelf life of a year I believe.

The Low-Carb Caffe Latte is good!!  It says to use 1 part concentrate, 4 parts half and half, and 4 parts water.  I am using almond milk instead of the half and half.  It doesn't say what a "part" should be, so I went the easy route and decided a part was a 1/4 cup!! That way the almond milk is 1 cup and the water is 1 cup!!  It makes me really really buzzed!!  So maybe I am making a super super grande Low-Carb Caffe Latte?  lol   I also have been adding some carob powder to make it a  Low-Carb Mocha Caffe Latte!!    The concentrate has splenda in it so I don't add any sweetener.   I think I need to only drink 1/2 in the morning and the other 1/2 in the afternoon cause I think it is way too much caffeine for me the way I am making it.  :P

Toddy is fast!!!  I already got a reply back on my email!!  I was also confused about the nutritional info on the Low-Carb Caffe Latte:

There should be two different line items for nutritional information
-- one for the concentrated coffee only, and the other for 2% dairy.
each serving (coffee and dairy combined) is 8-ounces. Once you open
the bottle, it requires refrigeration. We suggest it is best used no
later than 30 days after opening.

8-ounces for all ingredients!!! loll!!!   I guess I have been making a super grande buzz latte then!!      ;D

good to know I have 30 days for the bottle once opened, though the way I have been making them it wouldn't last that long!!

The Toddy is a cold brew system where you basically soak the grinds for like 12 hours and draw all the good stuff out.  It brews super concentrated coffee without ANY acids or oils.  For whatever reason, cold brewing prevents the release of acid and oils from the grinds, unlike hot brewing.  SO people who have stomach sensitivity to coffee find cold brewing much easier on the system.  Not to mention that it tastes a helluva lot better IMO.     8)
