Losses: What will the new bridge cost? How will the city's economy suffer as a result of the collase? Total of the lifetime earnings of the casualties?
Gains: Media $ will increase, as it's a huge story that touches many people.
Who will benefit? Any politician who scapegoats the budget or a construction company and uses it to run for office. Remember - we had never heard of Mitt Romney until the 'big dig' bridge collapsed in Mass., and he spent the next year campaigning on bridge reform. no joke. Politicians will milk this tragedy for airtime and budget.
Above all, RIP. I'm just trying to kick around some numbers. But the people who died are priceless. Sad day.
