Title: Open request to all female board mods (and board readers)
Post by: 24KT on August 16, 2007, 06:21:13 PM
Hi Ladies, (and Ron),

I just wanted to make it known for the record, that if I make a post on here or start a subject thread that you deem offensive or innappropriate for this board, feel free to simply delete it rather than move it to another board. There are some boards which I simply don't want to post on, and some subjects I care not to post about on other boards. To move my posts to those boards from this one would simply defeat the purpose or intent of originally posting on this board to begin with. That being the case, I'd rather prefer the post simply be deleted instead.

Thanks

ps - If anyone has a problem with anything I write, ...feel free to PM me with your objections.  :)

I'd be more likely to say very narrow perspective instead of clued out. :)

Don't get too excited, LOL! There's a remote chance we might end up in Canada for two days.

"To all fellow getbiggers, please note that this board is heavily moderated.  Please remain respectful in this area.  You have all the other boards for teasing, flaming and pwning.  If you are found to be insulting or disrespectful to other members of this board your posts WILL be deleted immediately.  And for those who want to cry "foul"...cry on another board.  This board was created as a place for people to escape the negativity and whatnot of some of the other boards.

Also, please note this message is from ALL the moderator's of this board, not just myself.

Thank you"

Curious..... All this time I thought it was the posters that make a board what it is.

I would expect your experience to be valuable in this situation. What usually happens to forums that get too restrictive or have a very narrow focus?  :)

If the board was going to have a very narrow focus this post would have been one of the first removed.
Totalitarian states can't allow any subversion.  In the few posts that I have read of yours, you always seem to jump to the extreme to try and make a point.  Why is this so?

If you are going to make valid arguments and not resort to hair pulling or name calling there is no fear that your posts will be deleted.  Pushing girls down in the playground is something we all should have grown out of already.

This appears just to be an effort to stop the chronic trolling, which was getting out of hand in my opinion.
I applaud their efforts

It's impossible for you to get what my point is without knowing teh X's history.  :)

Extreme? Not at all, LOL! Just not a huge fan of people's tendency to ignore obvious BS for the sole purpose of getting along. I'm honesty's biggest fan.

Well I will have to defer to knowledge on this one.  I have never read the X board.  I might have a post that ended gettting moved there but that would be it.

I don't believe any of the ladies here have a problem with honesty.  I think courtesy is the issue, well for me it is.

That being said I still don't believe it will Black or White, life is boring without all the grey issus to roll around naked in.  :D

the X is not restrictive.  I keep telling you to post stuff but you don't.  You just like to bitch about it and contribute nothing.    :)

You don't have to post on any board.  And I am sure you can find a board somewhere on GetBig to post whatever you want so I don't think you are being stifled.   ;D

This board is actually very mellow and respectful. 100 times better then the other boards which is why I post here quite a bit. I find this board to be very friendly and encouraging. Personally, I have no use for the "X", "V", "Y", or the "dump". They are useless and have absolutely no intellect what so ever. They are one big slamfest. I see nothing wrong with this board in terms of tolling and B.S.

It's summer, posts will naturally be down.

Do the math. Remove the few men who post here, aliases, Judi and any risque' topic and who's really left? After that remove the moderators and their 'associates' and you have a forum that is essentially dead.

I'm not suggesting people should be needlessly coarse to each other, we have the Y for that. The suggestion is that we shouldn't take ourselves too seriously. Excessive restrictions detract from this forum's unique opportunity to learn from each other. That's my point.

Some things are black and white. laura's edict essentially states that forums are an extension of the moderator's ego.

I am of the belief that if the trolling leaves we might actually attract more females.  Who wants to post in a forum that you will get trolled or the information you put down will be used against you?  This is the reputation Getbig has, a lot of men find it funny, but you would be hard pressed to find 1% of the females who do.

Laura's edict is an extension of the direct requests and the indirect complaints and suggestions in posts of the users of this board.

You have to remember that the board was setup for the women, it was originally intended to be women only.  The moderators are taking the ladies perspective on this, as they should. You being born of Mars are incapable of seeing it from the women's point of view, just as I cannot see it from the males.

Men and Women think and react differently to the same circumstances, it is a fact of life.

Don't confuse an honest observation with complaining or a direct personal attack. :) That's your problem with teh X.

I am of the belief that if the trolling leaves we might actually attract more females.

What are the grounds for that belief? Very few people actually 'troll' here. Females are more likely to take cheap shots than men. ~flowjit~ just accused me of 'B*****ng". Had I said the same thing to her one of you could have complained, LOL! Yesterday Xlinda personally attacked Judi. True the thread was moved but plenty of women do mechanically release their stress so it's a bit of a surprise it can't be openly discussed here.

Who wants to post in a forum that you will get trolled or the information you put down will be used against you?  This is the reputation Getbig has, a lot of men find it funny, but you would be hard pressed to find 1% of the females who do.

What a lot of people find funny is that adults have a difficult time expressing themselves in an environment where they aren't coddles. Bodybuilding is a male dominated sport so a bodybuilding site would naturally have more male posters.

Laura's edict is an extension of the direct requests and the indirect complaints and suggestions in posts of the users of this board.

There's a joke about women complaining a lot in there somewhere but I don't want to get off track.

Assuming your 'goal' is to make the forum better.... How exactly will less dialogue make the forum better?

Men and Women think and react differently to the same circumstances, it is a fact of life.

This isn't a circumstance, merely a few observations. Lighten up, a little. It is on-line, after all.

I notice you don't really answer direct questions, why is that?

Like I wrote a bit back. My curiosity is about the extent to which our on-line relationship difficulties reflect off-line pathology.

Lastly, John Gray is an unforgivable idiot. He offered a convenient excuse for relationship failure instead of actual communication tools.

I feel I have been answering the questions in this thread.  Being that type is the only way of communication on here you will interpet what I write in the way which you feel is correct.  I will do the same to yours, there is no other possible way.  What you might see as vague or indirect might not be that way.

Ask me a direct question and I if I feel like answering it I will, but bear in mind I have no idea who you are or who the other thousand of people who might read it are so I will choose answer it or not.

BTW the way you constantly analyse people from what they post is really pathetic.  You cannot determine what somebody is like by reading their posts on a forum of all places.

Why do you have a need to pigeon hole everybody around you into what you feel they are like?

Can't play for a few hours. Have stuff that needs doing.

I have asked you several direct, non-personal questions about your concerns but none of them were answered. All you did was state your position again in another manner. That's not the same thing, in my opinion. I don't feel any of them were difficult, my guess is that you were more concerned with expressing your own opinion than any actual dialogue on why we might differ or how both opinions could be respected. Maybe you're the type that has to always get in the last word, LOL!

I don't 'pidgeon hole everybody', LOL! I always want to know if people have put any thought into what they think.

You'd be surprised how much you can learn about people based on their posts. :)

Don't confuse an honest observation with complaining or a direct personal attack. :) That's your problem with teh X.

If I was deleting posts on the X you could blame me for the content, but since I am not deleting threads to censor people your complaints are bogus.  I am not responsible for what people post on the X.    I don't care for the posts on the V or the Y, yet I don't go around complaining about it, I just don't post on those boards.

I don't see you contributing much on any boards.  You usually are just posting about how you think the board should be or what you feel is wrong with the board instead of actually doing anything about it or contributing.

Why not just stay off a board that you feel is lacking?  Or do you think that every board here should cater to you drkock?

  get over it already.   :)

Okay,

Pet people are an interesting breed.

I prefer pale pets....

Ones with dark hair, dark eyes and creamy white skin.

Biting is optional as long as they know who the master is.

I kinda agree with you there Geo, (about the getting roger'd part) ...but hey, ...what can you do? (http://www.jaguarenterprises.net/images/em/shrug.gif)
STella said she got complaints about it, ...and that some people found a few sentences a little too graphic.
I was personally surprised myself that the sentences people found "too graphic" were not simply EDITED the way Squadfather's posts are, ...but hey no biggie. A few people understood it for what it was and got a good enough chuckle out of it while it was there. For the rest of you who found it too graphic, ...sorry.  :-X Those who never got to see it, and want to, just PM me.

Everyone has different ideas of what is funny, and what isn't. What is offensive and what isn't.
Some people are uncomfortable with the idea of masturbating women, but have no problem with scat humour,
while others are the other way around. I just have to remember that not everyone is a vegetarian.  ;)  :D  :-*

I don't think that authored articles should be edited.

I see that being different than editing a person's post, and possibly illegal (so is probably posting the articles but editing would be changing the article.)

  Just my opinion.
