he competed in a rival organization and was given a one-year suspension from the IFBB.
He served his year.
He has severed all ties with the rival organization.
However, NOW, the IFBB has decided just to make it a lifetime ban instead.
Imagine if you shoplifted, were given a 30-day jail sentence, and when you had served your 30 days, and tried to get released, the judge decided just to keep you locked up for life without parole.

Fvcking with Priest like they did Aaron Baker? Don't they know it gets kinda old? It turns people off of bbing, this old formula should have have died off when they recognize the fcking over good physiques. They need someone like L. Priest, especially after the worst Mr. o in a while. They need Priest to drive up pub sales (Flex and M&F can run arm training articles on Lee) Musclemag can do a interview on Lee's life... This would NOT be an issue for an amatuer and a court case of the NPC vs AAU physique ( 1980's) already decided it was UNlawful to restrict a bodybuilder from competing in various sanctions.
This is PRO bodybuiding and all about $$$ and contracts. The above legal standard does not apply in the case of a pro. I suspect Lee knows this and realizes that the PDI is going nowhere fast.
Lee made his choice and took his shot with the PDI, now he regrets it.
Imagine a chemist leaving COKE , bad mouthing them and getting a job at another drink company that does not make it very big. Fearing the enevitable "lay off" he tries to get his old job back.
Are they under any obligation to hire him back ? NO!
I like Lee as a pro bodybuilder , but sadly, feel his career decisions are not too wise at times, like some others in this sport :o This is the same guy that got a warrior tatoo, ON HIS FACE :o
I do feel that if the fans demanded his IFBB return in great numbers, they would seriously consider letting him back in . However, with a whole stable of new guys and some well known vets, it is unlikely the IFBB needs Lee Priest after the Olympia had a 9000 fan sell out at the night show.
I think Lee had his best days in the sport already and perhaps should move on to full time race car driving??

Well said. Lee is a great bodybuilder but he has little man's syndrome and shoots his mouth off too shut. He needs to grow up and learn that every action has a consequence. I wish him the best, but he's gotta swallow his medicine.

As a better bodybuilder than I told me when I when I asked about the Lee P situation:
" he got a tatoo ON HIS FACE" what else needs to be said about his judgement.
He will be one the great short bodybuilders however and I enjoyed seeing him on stage.

Lee absolutely detests the IFBB and its hierarchy. He has made a career out of 'running down' the organisation.
The 5 ft. 4 Lee, has spoken at length about the 'systematic-corruption' and 'exploitation' that is inherent in bodybuilding today.
Lee only wants back in so he can continue his tirade; of further destroying the credibility of the industry.
Little-Lee has become so bitter and twisted over the years. He will stop at nothing to 'ruin everything' that is professional bodybuilding!

Is the IFBB so sensitive and immature that it can't take a little criticism? Does it ever think it will be considered by the general public as a respectable organisation? Bodybuilding attracts people on the fringes of society who enjoy watching freaks and odd characters. Their will always be a Lee Priest, he appears to have become a scapegoat for the IFBB, and once gone he will be soon replaced by some other rebel.

Hey, Lee said he can't stand the Rules of the IFBB and so he chose to leave. He got suspended when he tried to come back after crapping on the Weiders, Robin, AMI and everyone else associated with the industry.
He's grown, matured and is now a Man on an Island without the PDI, which we all said would happen.
That said, he will have to apply for re-instatement, wait in line and see what happens.
Unfortunately for Lee, you simply can't SHIT where you Eat and later expect Desert when your bellies full. :-\

Lee, you took a stand to expose conditions in the IFBB. This was a strong move, that you knew could get you in hot water. Perhaps demilia was youre saving grace and you took the leap.
Running back is weak move, as they have no interest in a guy that wont lay down and spread his legs at will. This is what it takes in the IFBB with the politics. Just how in the HELL did jay win the Olympia this year?? Simple, it was pre-planned......... Thousands of people all over the world are seeing it....
Your best bet is to race, or tell demilia this has to work!!!(PDI) Even if it is to be built in europe to start.
Seminars and guest posing can still be yours to keep a fan base and make money.
You are well liked and every state in the USA would love to have you as a guest poser....any way youll have to finish what you started and the IFBB wants to see you fail. So I say succeed in a HUGE way!!!!

Nothing changed, or was promised to Lee...
When you are suspended (especially if it crosses over into a new season) you have to APPLY for reinstatement...there is no guarantee you automatically are allowed back in.....Lee was offered a reduced suspension of 9 months, which would have made himeligable to compete in the latter shows and qualify for the 2007 Olympia....he refused that offer.

You cannot compare Erik Bui to Lee Priest. Take a look at Lee's competitive history. The guy has been in the IFBB, and a pro BB'er for absolutely ages. He has competed in 6 Mr Olympia competitions. He is an IFBB veteran.
I know Lee was suspended for a year, but the year is up. I have to agree with everyone else, the IFBB is acting like a bunch of school girls, holding personal grudges against Lee which get in the way of how this whole situation should be going down.
Sure he is outspoken, but Lee has one of the largest fan bases ever in Professional bodybuilding. He is a veteran of the sport and one of the most recognisable, surely that has to count towards something.

It just seems like they punished him, then decided to do it again.
They told him he was suspended for a year. He served his year.
Then they told him it was forever.
That could have messed up his planning. Why make him LOSE $ by not competing elsewhere for that year? That's bullshit and a lot of normal fans, and real pros, recognize this. They wanted him to diss PDI and SIT OUT for a year, which he did. Only then, they said "thanks for doing that - but now we decided to ban you forever"

Hey, Lee said he can't stand the Rules of the IFBB and so he chose to leave. He got suspended when he tried to come back after crapping on the Weiders, Robin, AMI and everyone else associated with the industry.

Wrong again. Lee wanted to compete in two federations - make extra income as professional bodybuilder. He never wanted out of the IFBB, as you seem to have made up on the spot. He was thrown out of the IFBB because the IFBB decided to uphold some rules and not others.

Man, that Hank Wood is one annoying dude, multiple personality disorders, obviously has a thing for Lee. 35 years of age is a good time to get out of bodybuilding. Lee has competed with the IFBB for 18 years, how many bodybuilders last half that time. Lee has competed in over 40 IFBB events, often being very competitive and placing well. I only hope that Lee stops trying to get back into the IFBB, as they are obviously determined to make it hard for him. It's like being dumped by a girl who no longer wants you, and you grovel back, only to be further humiliated and rejected. The IFBB obviously doesn't understand the value of someone like Lee Priest, who adds color and interest to what would be considered under the best of circumstances, a dull sport. Lee, you have nothing left to prove in the world of pro bodybuilding. You had a great run but no pro sports career lasts forever. Avoid the stress and crap, and try something else like race car driving or some other career move.
You will be leaving the sport as an active pro after winning in the PDI and a memorable record and fan base.
You have still have your health, and never kissed butt. You gave as good as you got.
Having said that, I am sure you realize that the IFBB is a pro organization and they are obligated to protect their own interest. They would be out of business if they didn't just like any organization or corperation.

Hey, Lee said he can't stand the Rules of the IFBB and so he chose to leave. He got suspended when he tried to come back after crapping on the Weiders, Robin, AMI and everyone else associated with the industry.
He's grown, matured and is now a Man on an Island without the PDI, which we all said would happen.
That said, he will have to apply for re-instatement, wait in line and see what happens.
Unfortunately for Lee, you simply can't SHIT where you Eat and later expect Desert when your bellies full. :-\

I laughed as I was leaving they announced the place was sold out and I turned to my friend and said thats bull, the place was half empty. {IN MY HONEST OPINION} these professional Bodybuilders need to Organize, not necessarily a "Union" but definitely some sort of Athletes Association or something, with elected, not proclaimed delegates, there is truly power in numbers and these guys could make allot more money if organized. Lee Priest definitely has balls, "lead, follow, or get the fick outta the way".
Obviously, with out backing in any group of individuals you are going to lose on a disciplinary issue. On the other hand, if organized either through grievance or arbitration or before those steps Lee or any other Bodybuilder with the backing of the membership would be reinstated or at least given a timeline (grey areas are really bad if one sided). Right now as it stands if any other bodybuilder steps out of line they now know the consequences, they truly have no power as individuals.
What would happen if the pros as a group decided not to do photo shoots for Weider, and go to some other magazine, not do a show or two, yes they do have options, and a window of opportunity to make things better for themselves. (a little bit of suffering can win battles)
Lee may have did this to himself, but the IFBB also set the consequences, a message to the rest of the sheep(no offence), and as of right now this is just the way it is. Remember, "if nothing changes it will stay the same".
Maybe I am way off base here but I am sure these "athletes" stand to make much more for themselves if they are given the opportunity (freedom) to promote themselves as they so chose, and remember there could be membership dues as well for legal issues. Bodybuilding maybe not mainstream but there are huge numbers (money & people) involved. It would work through proper leadership.

It's has nothing to do with me making up my mind about anything. If you reread my post, I said that short of a lawsuit, the IFBB will do whatever it pleases and believe me they do not care at all about a few people on Getbig who sign a petition. It know it may be hard to believe , but Getbig participants are but a very small percentage as far as people who spend money on shows and supplements. Strange thing is, Chic, Shawn and Lee all want the same thing. They want to see pro bodybuilders better rewarded for their efforts. And all three have tried in the past to get something moving and it hasn't worked and each has ended up blaming the other, although it does seem like shawn and chic are still pissed at lee and using him as a whipping boy. I don't know how it's going to happen, but one thing is obvious, bodybuilders need to band together to get better conditions. I mean, this was how working unions originally formed, when workers had enough of being mistreated and unfairly rewarded. Shawn and Chic have unrealistic expectations from Lee, he is just the messenger who is hoping someone with greater leverage than he, takes some action. Shawn and Chic have stopped competing so can devote more time to these types of causes. Shawn, Chic and Lee need to bury the hatchet and soldier on for this cause, even at the risk of this situation we have now continuing to happen. The whole time you guys focus on the past, their is no future. Forget your petty differences, and remember the cause. May the force be with you.

Does Lee annoy you so much Shawn because he reminds you of yourself?. You always spoke your mind during your professional bodybuilding career and frequently had others offside. I only ask because you seem unable to let go off Lee's past mistakes and focus on the goal, which is better conditions for Pro Bodybuilders. And although their has been some improvement, their is still a long way to go. It seems you had unrealistically high expectations of Lee and now feel let down. Not all bodybuilders have your savvy and business acumen. Regardless of Lee's past mistakes, isn't it in everyone's best interests to stop attacking each other. Naughty Children are always an indication of a problem within the family, best to help the naughty child than to beat up on him. It isn't easy, but persistence is rewarded. God Bless

I put Ideas and Changes in Writing and submitted them to the proper people running the industry not on Internet Message Boards and posting Private Responses from companies I did business with including Contract with Weider, Olympia and Magazines like you did with MD and the Olympia Contracts.
Again, not to beat a dead horse but you still dont get it, the Channel or Vehicle you use to get your points, ideas, frustrations or opinions heard are all wrong, have been wrong and continue to be wrong!
You are accomplishing nothing posting all of the above on the boards when you have an Athlete Rep and federation that you ignore and post BS instead.
You really should throw your computer in the trash and wait 6 months, maybe then you'll be heard, until then you continue to shoot yourself in the foot with your "It wasn't my fault Posts" for your fans to see you dont take responsibilty for anything you've said or done regarding Suspensions and BS :-\

For the record, all proceeds are made out directly to the hospital...not Shawn.

No disrespect Bob, but there are some very simple changes that you could make (that wouldn't cost anything) that would greatly better the way the pros interact with the IFBB:
1-The Athletes Rep position should be up for a SECRET ballot once a year and all active pros (dues paid) should be REQUIRED to vote (Not sending out a letter requesting support because that way the IFBB can veto/scupper that process by simply letting it be known through the grapevine who they will and won't accept and no one can run for the position without going public and risking being blackballed. Any active or former IFBB pro should be acceptable as a ballot name; they should not have to publicly announce their candidature... that way the athletes can vote and run without the threat of repercussions.)
2-There should be a second position available: and ANONYMOUS Athletes Rep: someone who is also voted in by the compulsory secret ballot. This persons identity should never be revealed to the IFBB (and maybe not even to the pros or Official Athletes Rep) but they should be able to put forward proposals to be voted on by the pros in a public forum (such as the internet). This way sensitive subjects could be discussed and the athletes would have the option of voting for and implementing a new rule or mandate (one which may run contrary to the interests of the IFBB and promoters) without the IFBB Official Rep being implicated.
3-Athletes Meetings should be held before each event and be compulsory for any and all athletes competing in an event and open to any and all former competitors/pros. That way all competing pros would have the opportunity to discuss their grievances in an open forum with the Official Athletes Rep... but the meeting should continue for half an hour after the Official Athletes Rep LEAVES THE ROOM. That way the athletes can speak among themselves knowing that someone in the room is the Anonymous Rep (although not knowing who) and be confident that someone who can raise the issues they are afraid to raise is listening.
4-the IFBB pros subs should be divided evenly between the Official and Anonymous Reps, providing them with some semblance of recompense for their efforts.
5-Any IFBB Official or Judge should be open to censure/removal by a SECRET BALLOT vote of no-confidence by the athletes themselves. (Perhaps requiring a 51% majority decision among active sub-paying pros)
6-Any censure/suspension/ban imposed by the IFBB on an athlete should be open to be overturned by a SECRET BALLOT majority vote of the athletes. (Perhaps a 75% vote)
7-Any active athlete should be open to censure/suspension/ban by a SECRET BALLOT majority vote of the athletes. (Definitely a 75% majority requirement)

The major difference is Shawn and Chic like to join forces and attack those who are vulnerable at the moment (IE: Lee Priest), And then their is Lee, who can sniff injustice a mile away and will attack even if their is no chances of winning (hence, the reason he is so admired by others). I have no earthly notion of your overall argument that is confined within this entire discussion. With that foretold, I do know that Mrs. Rosa Parks was not being discriminated against according to the written law at the time. Separate but equal facilities were the norm as were the creation and execution of such laws which were dually envisioned to preserve and protect such a society.
Rosa Parks chose to take a stand and express civil disobedience. In turn she was arrested for her actions. It would prove only later on that her losing the battle on that day, would serve to win the war in the nigh and expanding future.
I take it your studies did not carry your education in such matters and in turn has left a gaping hole in neuron and synapses connected with this factual piece of history.

Rosa Parks isn't a good analogy.
This one is more appropriate: Lee Priest = Jesus. The IFBB and its henchmen have hung him on a cross and given him vinegar to drink. Jesus only hung on a cross for like 6 hours too...Lee has been nailed up there for 12 months. So Lee comes back and tries getting back into the IFBB and all of a sudden, it's "I do not know this man" exactly as Peter said about Jesus.

Kal Szkalak was a bodybuilding phenom who burst onto the scene in 1976, winning the AAU Mr. America at age 23. The following year, he won the heavyweight Mr. Universe (defeating Mike Mentzer). What about in the 2001 Mr O, Kevin Leverone wasn't a registered member of the IFBB nor did he have a contract to compete in the 2001 Olympia and the IFBB allowed Kevin Levrone to compete at the 11th hour. And the following is taken from Getbigs Shawn ray Interview -
Shawn said - The answer I got was 'the powers that be' allowed Kevin in. I didn't know who the 'powers that be' were? All I knew was that I did know who was the IFBB Vice President, and who was the head judge of the Olympia. Wayne Demilia and Jim Manion. And when they say someone is not going to be allowed in because of a rules violation, I expected those rules to get enforced. Which they weren't. Kevin wound up in 3rd place, I wound up in 4th place. A week after the show, Jay Cutler failed the diuretics test. He threatened a lawsuit, then the federation goes and throws out all of the drug tests, which I thought was ridiculous in and of itself. Nothing hypocritical about it...Shawn was right, and Wayne was in full control of what was going on. E-Kul is not Lee, Just a fan Of Lee's from Australia. I am supportive of Lee's cause as I want to see him continue to compete in the IFBB. He is the only real competitive bodybuilder we have from down under, and without Lee competing, I would lose interest in the sport. I watched Lee compete when he won the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, and he was without a doubt the most popular athlete there. He was also in fantastic shape, and went above and beyond the call of duty spending time with fans chatting, signing his autograph and participating in photo opportunities. In relation to Lee's attacks on the IFBB, I think some of the problem is a cultural one, in Australia we aren't so sensitive about criticism, if anything it is welcome, as we like to hear everyones opinions, good and bad. Criticism from others is an opportunity for growth, it reminds us not to take life so seriously and reduces our arrogance and bigotry.
