What has become of him?

I admired Roy a lot at the gym.  My training partner and him were good friends and he introduced me.  I was the kid in the gym and most everyone was really nice to me.  Especially since I was as strong as any of them.I just will never forget watching Ry do chins and dips with two 150 lb. dumbbells hanging from his waist for reps.  He used to say to me "if I had a nickel for every rep I have done" (something like that).

Platz, Roy, Padilla, Dickerson-they all could have won the 1981 Olympia and no one would have complained-BUT fucking Franco????? Callendar had the best leg seperation I have seen on him at the 81 O.

Jesus H Christ!

Saw Roy guest posing in 81 in good shape, as big as a house. You can't tell from those picks just how HUGE this guy was.

His problems were that some of his peers like Robinson, Padilla and Fox were a little more polished, defined and aesthetic, but it was close. Roy's lower body-leg definition and calf size-didn't compare with the upper body, coupled with muscle tie-ins that weren't quite as good as some others. Held him back from greater placings IMO, but he was very very good.

He's lived around Montreal for decades, since the 70s i believe. Used to be a gym owner i think, now a trainer at Club Proform La Prairie.

Roy had the best legs in the 81 O next to Platz.

They were separated, sliced and diced-to say he coud not hang with Robby in the legs is pure nonsense. Robby had the weakest legs in the Pro's. Roy's legs blew Robby's legs in the dust.

Callendar never had great thigh shape or cuts and his calves were mediocre. Robinson's legs weren't any more cut but had better sweep and taper along with far superior hams. Robinson, Padilla, Fox and others also had better overall tapers. I'll make it easy for ya, choose some pics..

Besides which as i said, he didn't have the aesthetics of some others either.

I dont think there is a single shot of Roy from the 81 O in the entire 216 pic set. Might be a few but nbo leg shots.

Ill repeat this-Roys legs at the 81 O were sliced and diced and looked fantastic and Robby would never come close.

Find some decent pics of the 81 O and you will see.

There's tons of proof to the contrary in that link, find something to back up this claim.

Besides which even if they were cut for a minute, as i said he never had great thigh shape or taper. Or calves. Unfortuntely for him, he never had the aesthetics of some others with similar size, like Fox, Robinson and Padilla. All of them including Callendar deserved to win over Columbu though.

I agree Roy's legs were ripped in 81'.

1/ No proof, all you've got is hearsay. I've provided you a link with dozens of pics.

2/ I'll repeat what i've said several times now, he had no thigh shape and poor calves relative to other great peers, and the overall aesthetics weren't on par.

I have a Flex Mag from 2006 and they list him on the "10 Ten Chests", they also had his chest routine. I believe dips were a staple of that. I don't have the mag at the moment, but what was his chest routine?

At the 80 O, I felt that Roy had the best upper body- thicker, and  his thighs were almost as good as Platz's but he was JUST off, and that hurt him, because numbers  1-6 were all ripped to the bone. His calves were his weak point,, and he lacked width and impressiveness standing relaxed, but he was, in Mike Mentzers words "the most thickly muscle bodybuilder ever"- at that time...

Saw him posing around '81, insane size. Would like to have seen him side-by-side Fox and Oliva to see how that would've looked. In some of the shows he was neck and neck with Robinson-a little bigger than Robinson but not as refined or tapered.
