basically they destroyed her career as a politician like they destroyed the whole republican party, the conservatives and the west as a whole.

I think she cost him the vote. There were a lot of undecided independents who were leaning his way, and he blew it with taking her on as vice pres to make the brain dead religious right happy. Had he picked someone who made sense, I think he could have carried it. He lost my vote with that move to Palin.  Sad to say, you have not heard the last of her. She's to self centered and too power hungry to go away quietly. She's tasted the national stage, so he wont be happy back on Alaska.

No, I voted for the party that gives our Const, including the Second Amend, true focus: Libertarian.

in MA, it didn't matter who I voted for, it's a blue state period. I voted third party just to send the message that many people are voting, but they are not happy with the choices they have from the two parties. Had I been in a swing state where my vote really mattered, I honestly don't know what I would have done. Probably voted for McCain and hoped above all hope he didn't die in those 4 years. Palin cost him the vote with far more people than they realize or will admit to, and until the Repubs stop allowing the religious right to run their party and get back to the party of great men like Lincoln , etc., it's going to be a downhill slide for that party. People will not soon forget Bush.

I guess its wrong to have some stability in your life,

If by "stability" you mean thinking the earth is 6000 years old and man and T Rex existed at the same time, etc, then that
is stability as retarded people are "stable." Stable in their ignorance and or limited brain power. Stupidity = stability in this case. If you need an old book to make you stable, I feel sorry for you.

lets promote homosexuality and abortions instead................. ....

Promote is not = to tolerate or support as the rights of other human beings. It's that brain washing people like you suffer that equate acceptance and or tolerance being = to promoting. I "promote" neither, but accept both as a human right.

As this is not a thread about gay rights or abortion, lets not turn it into one. The far right just gave you Obama as pres. They have no one to blame but themselves for that.

Until the Repubs distance themselves from the religious right who has taken over their party, and get back to the true core values of the Repub Party, it's downhill for the party of Lincoln, and that's a shame.

Faith is the absence of proof. I can jump out a window and have "faith" I will grow wings, but it wont happen.

Nothing so called about it.

You brought up religion, so I bring up morals.

I don't care what someone does behind closed doors, but I won't "accept" people teaching my kids in school that its ok to be gay.  I won't accept thats abortions should be used as a form of contraceptives.

Guess what: it's OK to be gay. You can teach your kids otherwise as you wish. I would be unhappy if they were to teach them it's not OK, and would prefer they simply stay out of it as i want schools to teach my kids reading, math, and such.

I won't accept thats abortions should be used as a form of contraceptives.

I don't either, and there's a lot that can be done to reduce the number of abortions in this country, most of which has been blocked by the religious right. Regardless, at the end of the day, no matter how I feel, the rights of the women to choose what she does with her body trumps all.

Again, that's my position and I know yours, and there's plenty of related threads to debate in. My point in this thread is: you can thank the religious right for your new president. People have had enough if it, and went to the other extreme: a far left type.

Deal with it.  ;)

Yes I did, in FL.  Voted barr by mail weeks ago.  I was working early in the day as a roving polling supervisor for a the media pool research group that surveyed every Xth person who voted in each district.

But in the evening I drove my family to their precincts to vote, watched kids, bought dinner, etc, where they all promptly voted Obama.

Many people thought it was wrong for people of different races to marry. The very law here in MA that is being used to prevent people from other states getting married in MA, was an old law used to prevent blacks and whites from getting married. They were bigots and wrong then, and people such as you are bigots and wrong now. You either believe in equal rights or you don't.

Right.  her being a 18-month governor, surrounded with stink of ethics violations and using state $ for fmaily trips, had nothing to do with it.

Her being unable to answer any Qs about important topics in interviews, no worries there.

Do you understand that Bobby Jindal is a RIGHT WING LOON further right than Palin?  Did you forget that he performed an exorcism and believes it to have worked in curing cancer?  You have at least 4 years to start learning how horrible Jindal really is.  If you disliked Palin, you should abhor Jindal.

And you don't think that the chances the kid they raise turns messed up isn't great...............

We already know the answer is..drum role....no. Kids raised by same sex couples turn out just fine, or at least no worse off then those by "traditional" families, etc. A loving family is a loving family and your attempting to force your view of what defines a family is typical ignorance and small minded. What of all the single parents out there? They don't fit your perfect mom/dad 1950s family either. Perhaps throw a law on them too? Ergo, you're a bigot. Don't compare people of different races getting married  to people of same sex, nobody is saying they are against different races being married.

I can, I did, and I will. It's no different and was a big issue at one time, with people just like you arguing it should be banned (which it was ) and other bigot closed minded BS because it went against the social norms and scared small minded types. The analogy is historically accurate, you just don't like that is exposes the realities of this current modern civil rights fight for those who want equal rights under the US Const.

I'm not intolerant cause I really don't care what people do, I just don't want it mentioned that it's normal, and I don't want it taught in the schools.  And I don't want a kid placed in a situation where he is deprived of a mom or a dad.

and how she has said Obama never makes the bed, puts away the butter and how he kinda smells in the mornings  ???

Yes, yes you are.

I really don't care what people do, I just don't want it mentioned that it's normal,

For a % of the population it is "normal". Has been all through history and always will be. Denial is a great human coping strategy, but it does not change reality. Go read up on the Romans, Greeks, etc, etc. For what ever reason, a % of people always have, and always will, prefer their own sex. I don't get it either, but I support their human rights.

Again: "A bigot is a person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own,"

and I don't want it taught in the schools.

That two people of the same sex may love each other? The HORROR!

And I don't want a kid placed in a situation where he is deprived of a mom or a dad.

Then you better start passing laws banning gay marriage and single parents. The last person to realize they are a bigot is the bigot.

Maybe you should go and refresh your history, it was somewhat accepted with the Greeks, especially with their soldiers back then, but it was really frown upon by the Romans and it was very uncommon.

McCain could have won he just made too many mistakes and Palin was one big one.

Nah. McCain never had a chance yesterday or months ago. Only Obama's color, inexperience and liberalism even kept it close.

Palin has good future potential in future with some work. Alot more appealing than most of the generic duds who populate US politics.

Adonis, you still believe in big government, I don't.  I don't like the far left or the far right...and I certainly don't trust most politicians.  We must limit their power and make as many things as we can transparent.

I can`t see someone as brilliant if they claim they cured cancer by "the laying of hands" and by doing a self-performed exorcism.  All of which Jindal readily claims.

He is schooling at its absolute worst meaning, he has a track record of memorizing canned answers without the knowledge behind them.  He is the guy in college who can ace tests, but has no idea what the answers he wrote actually mean or what context they have.

He is a dangerous Neo-Con who would love nothing more than to spend more than Mr. Bush and his ilk especially when we examine his record as governor.

Jindal's Exorcism
Posted by Jay Newton-Small

Louisiana's Governor Bobby Jindal has been mentioned as a potential veep for McCain, and he may bring some, um, interesting talents to the table -- such as excorism. This 1994 New Oxford Review article authored by Jindal, who converted to Catholicism in high school and is known for being very devout, has been kicking around the blogosphere. In it he talks about witnessing the exorcism of a female friend he identifies only as Susan.
An excerpt:

Strangely, I found myself repeating the Hail Mary until it became a chant. Being a recent convert to Catholicism, I had yet to accept the Catholic doc trines concerning Mary and considered any form of Marian devotion to be idolatry. Though I had never before prayed a Hail Mary in my life, I suddenly found myself incapable of any other form of prayer. Somehow, Mary's intercessions allowed me to find peace during that long night; I knew that I had sur vived the worst and that I would exit with my faith intact. It terrified me to recall how close I came to turning away from Christ out of fear.
The crucifix had a calming effect on Susan, and her sister was soon brave enough to bring a Bible to her face. At first, Susan responded to biblical pas sages with curses and profanities. Mixed in with her vile attacks were short and desperate pleas for help. In the same breath that she attacked Christ, the Bible's authenticity, and everyone assembled in prayer, Susan would suddenly urge us to rescue her. It appeared as if we were observing a tremendous battle between the Susan we knew and loved and some strange evil force. But the momentum had shifted and we now sensed that victory was at hand.
While Alice and Louise held Susan, her sister continued holding the Bible to her face. Almost taunting the evil spirit that had almost beaten us minutes before, the students dared Susan to read biblical passages. She choked on certain passages and could not finish the sentence "Jesus is Lord." Over and over, she repeated "Jesus is L..L..LL," often ending in profanities. In between her futile attempts, Susan pleaded with us to continue trying and often smiled between the grimaces that accompanied her readings of Scripture. Just as suddenly as she went into the trance, Susan suddenly reappeared and claimed "Jesus is Lord."

With an almost comical smile, Susan then looked up as if awakening from a deep sleep and asked, "Has something happened?" She did not re member any of the past few hours and was startled to find her friends breaking out in cheers and laugh ter, overwhelmed by sudden joy and relief.

You Republicans are going to PWN yourselves again as you fail to see what is happening to your party.  Why can you not see that Ron Paul is one of the last remaining few conservatives?

This Jindal is NOT what is considered a conservative.  He is an EXTREMIST Neo-Con.  I hope you learn this before it is too late or you will just have another Palinesque problem on your hands.

Why not support candidates that are actually in line with Conservatism instead of this Right Wing Loon Faction?  It sure won`t win you any elections.

The GOP needs to reinvent itself and dump the loons [as in not run them for prez] to do better. Palin and Jindal included.

Get some 'normal' fiscal conservatives in there.

Don't let the religious zealots take over, that's like the dems letting the tree huggers take over.

Get 21st century - Obama's campaign was cutting edge using net/texts etc, McCain's was like all 1990 with itself.

The candidates weren't even chosen yet lol... we were still talking about Jim Webb's chances hahahahaha

People who read this board on a regular basis understand that you are a chronic liar and like to give lip service to a number of Republican candidates, while cheerleading for liberals.  Daily.

Thune 2012.

Bachmann 2012.

Huntsman 2012!

Perry 2012... it's gonna be the ticket.  Without a doubt.

I like a TON of Thune's ideas.  I think Perry was an "oops" away from winning in 2012 too.  Bachmann has a ton of good ideas.  Huntsman has more dignity in his used toilet paper than obama has in his entire body.

LOL @ you shitting on me for supporting these repubs.  Who's the fcking lib here?  LOL

Most people would be happy to hear others saying good things about repubs.  Not you ;)

All I'm doing is showing how dishonest you are.  And what's really funny is you're claiming to be a Republican, while saying you voted for Obama (a Democrat) and Barr (a libertarian).

I could care less whether someone is a member of any particular party, or support a particular candidate, but your dishonesty is very amusing.   :)

If Perry doesn't pull that oops, he probably wins that nomination.

Does he beat obama, that's a tough one.  He'd do better in general election if only because he's more likeable than romney, by a mile.  People want a pres they can have a beer with, someone like them.  Perry was very buzzed, even holding up the bottle lol, during one ranting speech.  He's likable, even if you find him repulsive and whatnot.

bachmann had SOME good ideas about keeping govt influence to a minimum.  Hiding in shrubbery, literally... and saying she only worked at IRS for years because she was learning how to defeat the enemy, lol, that was idiotic.  But yes, some of her ideas were great for freedom and smaller spending.

I think it's prefectly normal on a political gossip board to predict who the candidate will be.   And when a person says in Feb, "I'm unsure what I'll do in November", that's normal too.  I think today's posts from BB/DQ were just dumb, to be honest.  "But you said Perry 2012, you're a lib", dude, it's a political board, you have 333386 saying he'd laugh at nukes going off, and half the getbiggers saying we should nuke certain countries on a daily basis lol.   but hey, 240 says "Thune 2012", 22 months before the 2012 eleciton, and it's a big one-man circle jerk all of a sudden.

Perry should have won.  I still think, even with this little indictment thing, he's still the safest GOP nomination bet in 2016.

He's Dubya without the Bush name.

Perry was falling apart before during and after his oops moment.  Every Republican seemed to get a few days or weeks at the top of the poll but in the end they all faded.

Regarding Bachmann, I don't recall any of her good ideas.  Can you tell me some of them rather than generalizations like "keeping government influence to a minimum"

No TARP: Uncle Sam should be lender of last resort. (Nov 2011)
Voted NO on more funding for Mexico to fight drugs. (Jun 2008)
Voted YES on criminalizing oil cartels like OPEC. (May 2007)
No foreign aid to state sponsors of terror. (Sep 2011)

she was rational for years, then went batshit in 2010.

those are example of how she voted

you said she had some good ideas

btw - No Tarp would have been a fucking disaster for this country and the entire global credit market and I don't really see how not helping Mexico fight the drug war is good for us.   Voting to criminalize OPEC is symbolic nonsense.

I'll agree with no foreign aid to state sponsor of terrorism but then who in their right mind would vote against that.  Too bad the link doesn't list the actual legislation
