Once in a blue moon Ron owns some poor male muscle worshipper, those posts always crack me up. Bluto was funny, DB69345 has some great photoshops. Nothing comes close to the humor that was displayed by about a dozen people back in 06 and 07 in the Y and V though. Some new guys are on here trying, God bless their souls, but there is no comparison to the brutal posting style that ruled the alphas a few years ago. Kiwi before he went soft would throw a 1000 word post directed at someone calling them a cokksucker in ways you never imagined, then Berzerkfury would make a post that had so much hate coming from it you wondered if he was even joking or not, then SS would goad the guy into trying to find him and "trow hands" with him, topped off with Squadfather chirping in that the guy must be small and is probably weak as a kitten. The newbies used to get so frustrated at the sheer amount of insults thrown their way and just quit the site forever. There is no one here to weed out the week(PIP) anymore, and the site is suffering. :( The gay Johnny guy has a pretty good self deprecating sense of humor and makes me laugh on occasion though. I see no epic battles anymore though, although recently I got a kick out of Mindspin and Chick going at it.

Truth be told, I took on a certain persona when I first joined here, to try and fit in with the cool crowd, cause they really impressed me with their jokes and sense of humor. But as with everything else, I just got more and more carried away, until a whole lot of freaky shit happened, including my going insane, part of which you all witnessed here. But it's all good - the whole thing did make a major change in my life in a lot of ways. Who's to say "it's just the internet", lol!

X2 this place was insane then, there were 5 or 6 MAJOR ownages going on at any given time, and not this played out bullshit you see now, it was fucking brutal, dudes were melting down all over the place.

My personal take on it is this.... I have read some of the older threads and that was definitely the golden era of getbig, laugh out loud stuff every day.
That in no way means that people who posted back then were any more funnier than the posters are now...they just had MUCH more material to work with.
How hard is it to really crack on low intelligent guys like Derek Anthony with all the shit going on in his life and King Kamali with his delusions, or Will Brink...I mean, just look at the guys pics at the expos and you got 3 days worth of material...there's probably many more examples but I just can't think of any right now.
I have seen some of the people who were SO legendary back in the day come back without being able to work all the angles available back then and they really aren't entertaining to me but then again I really don't follow Pro Bodybuilding too much so half the jokes go over my head anyways...

The personal feuding has it's time and place but Getbig was at it's pinnacle when we were running the entire industry from our keyboards.
In 2006... it was COOL to be a bonified fucking Getbigger. I loved getting calls from Ron because he was getting endless calls from whoever we were making fun of (Hany, Lee Thompson, Quincy Taylor etc...).
Now with the gimmicks, the cyber-stalking and the baby shit and the shitty threads it's pale in comparision with the power we yeilded at one time.

you dont exactly see alot of people come on here sharing or attempting on the path of formulating a positive discussion related to all the unknowns of what foods actually do. There are alot of fit people who dont have the heart to share superior knowledge with ungreatful people. People also oversimplyfy dieting when no one here looks good except kyomu and a few others and thats it

See, you say that cause you weren't here. I don't think you understand just how this place was. If you did, you'd be agreeing with us. This place was the Wild West of message boards. We told it like it was, and held power in the industry. It was funny how many pros, magazines and insiders were owned by Getbig, and just happened to talk about us.
The Meltdowns were legendary, and all without resorting to posting personal info (and other gay shit). We gave props to those who deserved it, and rip a new one to those we knew were assholes.
And teh funny, forget it. I can't tell you how many times I could not stop fucking laughing so hard, and my fucking stomach/abs would cramp from it.
Different times now. Too many pretenders, with not much of a sense of humor, let alone wit. Now these twinks come on here and call someone "gay", and think they owned someone. Others think post whoring is something to brag about. We had quality then, not just people looking to up their counts.

That being said, I think the characters in the bodybuilding industry really really mind their P's & Q's as they know now that without a shadow of a doubt if any one of them get out of line WE will hear about it, a picture will be posted here and we will have a field day with it and they will never be able to live it down.
Ex: Hany Rimjob. No matter how many people he dials in, no matter what he does he will ALWAYS be known as the 'ebony mountians of salascious and deliscious chocolate muscle' midget moonlighting as a schmoe.
So I think the whole bodybuilding world is alwyas self-conscious of Getbig. It's sort of like police camera on certain corners of major cities. It's sort of always there...watching and waiting for someone to fuck up.

People also oversimplyfy dieting when no one here looks good except kyomu and a few others and thats it
Yes, you do post your insights, but I also think that it's good that not everyone follows the same format. The mixture of different personalities and the thing each person brings to the table makes this place a lot more interesting and entertaining, than it would be if everyone tried to be all positive and truth seeking (which is never going to happen anyway).
You've been here long enough to know this place is never going to be serious about anything. Most of the people here come more for the laughs and chit chat, rather than to genuinely learn things, although we all learn a lot from the content that's posted here one way or the other, I guess. Nothing wrong with that.
And let's not forget there are heaps of posters who barely post in the G&O, but post serious discussions in other boards here, like nutrition and politics and what have you. The fact the the G&O is a mix of everything is what makes it so entertaining and popular here by a country mile.

The lack of funny of late has more to do with a lack of good material avilable to work with. The "characters" around the industry were fucking up more and fucking up more publicly a few years back. The material really did write itself.
That may be part of it, but back then, we used to be able to discuss certain topics, whereas now, a certain mod deletes anything controversial.
Also, threads with potential, are either deleted, or bumped to the next page (and out of sight) by garbage threads certain folks here start.

That being said, I think the characters in the bodybuilding industry really really mind their P's & Q's as they know now that without a shadow of a doubt if any one of them get out of line WE will hear about it, a picture will be posted here and we will have a field day with it and they will never be able to live it down.
Ex: Hany Rimjob. No matter how many people he dials in, no matter what he does he will ALWAYS be known as the 'ebony mountians of salascious and deliscious chocolate muscle' midget moonlighting as a schmoe.
So I think the whole bodybuilding world is alwyas self-conscious of Getbig. It's sort of like police camera on certain corners of major cities. It's sort of always there...watching and waiting for someone to fuck up.

I still stand firm on the fact that EVERYBODY studies the Getbig 'Gossip/Opinions' thread if they have anything to do with the bodybuilding industry. So knowing how we can be ruthless and merciless people now cover thier tracks and think twice about being photographed or saying something outlandish. Maybe we are our own worst enemies. We may quite possibly be way to good at what we do.
