how many times do we have to go over this? He used the name IFBB first for the January 1948 New York State (http://musclememory.com/articles/sh/sh480247.html). The Weiders then used the name for the May 1948 Eastern North America. (http://musclememory.com/showArticle.php?mp060510) However it was just a name. There was no organization until 1964, and the Weiders didn't incorporate until 1969. And other than the Mr Canada that Ben promoted, there were no contests using the IFBB name between 1952 and 1959.

So he was the first to use the "IFBB" moniker.

yes, it's him working out, but not at a gym. It was a pic of him working out in his walk-in closet and the gym was photoshopped in. why I don't know.

How does a closet "walk", Tim?

Well he should come out of the closet and go to the gym. He looks great, especially for 85.

The Dan Lurie Life Story details Dans experiences as:
•A top bodybuilding competitor and holder of many world strength records.
Finished 2nd place all three times in the Mr America - No official strength records, all endurance based
•Founder of the Dan Lurie Barbell Co.
Defunct and no longer operating. Outsold by Weider Barbell, still in operation
•Contest Promoter: he started the both IFBB and the WBBG (World Body Building Guild) federations.
Disputed - Both Dan and Joe had IFBB shows in 1948, neither can make sole claim. WBBG is defunct and no longer operation. Joe kept it going which is why there is an IFBB today while Dan abandoned it for the WBBG
•Organizer of the WBBG Hall of Fame, Fitness Dinners.
See above, Defunct and no longer operating
•Owner of the famous chain of Dan Lurie Health Gyms.
Defunct and no longer operating, no longer licensed or franchised
•Publisher of Muscle Training Illustrated magazine for almost 30 years, along with five other journals.
Defunct and no longer operating, no buyer came in to purchase the rights
•Owner of the Dan Lurie line of sports and health supplements.
Defunct and no longer operating, Lou Ferrigno negative about his experience and Sergio Olivia accused him of mispromotion while he was on stage. Claimed that he took advantage of him because he didn't understand English.
•Founder of the Dan Lurie Sauna Corp.
Defunct, its not like he invented the sauna
•Television Star on the CBS-TV Sealtest Big Top Circus Show.
He ate Sealtest ice cream before doing his amazing feats of strength. Epic promotion of fitness for an unhealthy product that contributed to child obesity. Only real actor on the show was Ed McMahon who played a clown
•Actor in Captain Video commercials for the top ranked childrens show of the same name.
Played one part in a widely panned TV series in which most of the tapings were destroyed.
•Father of 5 Children and 15 Grandchildren.
One of the few positives
•New York State Checkers Champion at age 13.
::) Not important enough to comment
The fact is that Dan made millions, has a great family and should be enjoying the golden years of his life but instead he is still waging war against Joe Weider. There is nothing that Dan can even gain from getting one over on Joe even if it was possible because its practically Ancient history. There's nothing in his book that hasn't been discussed decades ago.
But since he wants to reveal something, I'll give him a hand.... ;D

I'm pretty sure that's his brother Morris, and you're lucky it is because at that Al Urban photo shoot Dan was only 17, and you'd be guilty of distributing child pornography.

Sorry, public domain picture and obviously not child pornography. Get you mind out of the gutter. Regardless as to whether it was Dan or Morris, the apple never falls far from the tree Tim. He should be grateful that the only magazines he on the front page cover for was Joe Weider's Your Physique.

Dan Lurie and Joe Weider are practically birds of the same feather. Its just that Joe won. If Dan won, things would still be the same
