well the best I ever ran was a 14:40 at 210 pounds. Now Im around 230 and can run around 16 minutes but I can also run a steady 9 min pace for 4+ miles. Im trying to get down to around 200 so I can try and run in the 13's. I dont have a distance runners build, but Im trying to get my run time down.

As long as you can outrun the cops, it's a good time.

I've done a 8m 47 sec mile an a half (in boots).

I was a twinkish 168lbs then.

Used to run 5km (about 3 miles) in 20 minutes when I was 18. I was about 130 pounds i think back then.

I think 13 minutes (and under) is the point where you really can say you're "fit".

Epic understatement.

I think that if an average person can run it in less than 16 mins, that is alright. Less than 15 mins is pretty good though. I weigh 230 and stay in good enough cardio shape to run less than an 8 min mile for 5ks. Either way...running sucks!!!

This is Getbig.  So around a 3 minute mile average would be okay

He said 8 to 10 minutes Per mile which is absolutely horrible.

Every Monday night after legs, 3 miles in 24 minutes (and some change). 7.5-7.7 mph on the treadmill. About 8 min miles.

cardio is catabolic.  I don't even run if the house is on fire.  I just walk and consider the oxygen deprivation to be just paying the cost to be the boss.

Whne I played ball the magic number was 6 minutes for a mile.  I never had to run it.  I was never into running.  My forte was jogging around the bases after I hit a 400' homerun.  I did though used to follow the runner down to first to back up the throw.  So I was not slow.  I even stole a base or two.  But my running was better known for falling twice during a home run trot.

Are you implying that blacks and prison go together like peanut butter and jelly?

He said 8 to 10 minutes Per mile which is absolutely horrible.

It's not horrible....but not great or elite either. He asked about a "good" time, which I interpreted a bit better than average. The average american can't run a mile in 8 min is my bet.

"Horrible" as you put it would be the chubby flat footed guys and gals at my gym that run a mile in 12-15 min while sounding like a heard of asthmatic elephants and splashing 32oz of sweat all over the place.

I think for a guy whose priority is lifting weights in his twenties weighing under 200lbs it should be under 13 minutes.  I'm 185 and nearly 51years old and I can do it around 14 minutes.  If I lifted less and ran more under that. You have okay fitness if you can do it in 16minutes.

These time opinions are for guys that lift and not for pure runners.
