Title: Constructive Criticism
Post by: Nomad_Warrior on April 04, 2010, 12:32:25 AM
I know that GetBig is known for ripping guys to shreds even if they have a decent physique, but I'm looking for some advice.  I've been training  consistently for over 5 years.  Usually heavy weight 4-5 times a week, 2-3 bodyparts each workout.  I have a decent knowledge of proper training prinicipals, but for the last couple of years I have made little to no progress.  I know that I can and should look better than I currently do and I am ready to take my training to the next level.  I'm a lifetime natural and the only supps I've used are Protien, Creatine, and Multivatims.

I'm not trying to acheive that "juiced up pro" look, but I have always admired the classic bodybuilder physique and would like to starting looking a bit more bodybuilder-like.  I'm looking for 2-3 concrete ideas and changes that I can incorperate into my regime in order to achieve maximal longterm results.  Any advice on training, dieting, supplements, or even posing would be appreciated.  I can handle the criticism but please try to keep it constructive.  Like I said, 2 or 3 concrete ideas which I can immidiately put into action.

I'm 173 cm at 74kg.

Thanks for the compliment Hulk.  I'm looking for some solid advice though from competitors and those with experience.  Looking at my physique.  What stands out as weak points?  What should I work more on and how?
I currently do a 3 day split.
Chest and shoulders.
Back and legs.
Arms and traps.
Weights every other day, with abs and cardio on the in between days.  And one full rest day each week.  I am a lifetime natural and I like to train hard but being natural, I am concerned about overtraining.

I'm just pleatued (for about the last 2-3 years) with my bodyweight and lift maxes, with bench at about 115 kg, and squats and deadlifts at about 150kg.  I how can I break through these pleatueas and spur new growth?  What supplements, if any actually work? And how can I alter my diet so as to put on more weight without extra bodyfat.

Please give me some usefull tips.  What has worked for you guys?

Id say you look pretty good no lagging body parts that I can see really...legs/calves?

one thing my dad told me when I was younger that always stuck with me is "to not train one yr at a time 5yrs in a row" basically you need to try and make progress in the gym every workout and I mean every workout whether it be reps or weight you need to be making the conscious effort to increase one or the other or even time between sets every workout.

Im not a big fan of the back and legs day on your split though, those are your 2 strongest parts and probably the 2 muscle groups that produce the most strenuous workouts so i cant really see you getting a good workout for both doing back and legs on the same day.

compound movements, compound movements, compound movements...deads/rack pulls, squats/leg presess(I know some ppl shit on these but Ive always gotten great results from these as well) I would mix these up when you hit a plateu in one switch to the other, weighted dips, military presses etc....

as far as the eating goes lean meats, veggies, and carbs I would say around your workouts slowely increase your calories until your making gains with a body fat you can live with. Its hard to say about diet and bulking I think you definitly have the right idea about trying to stay lean though.

Really good physique man, congrats on great progress.

Based on what I see, I would just concentrate on bringing everything up like normal, you have great aesthetics. If you can do that and lower your bodyfat, that would make an awesome physique.
