Great stuff!!
Thanks dude! Its baby weight compared to what the gods of GetBig pull, but I was happy about it considering how long its been since I did them!
-
Looks like you could have popped out another 4 or 5 easy
-
Thanks simply huge! I will either compete this fall or next spring, depends how my progress goes the rest of the summer. I was planning on competing this spring, but my gains REALLY sucked in 09, so I wanted to make up for t!
ThaRealist, you really think so? Its funny cause I really wanted to do 6, but on that last negative I thought to myself "there's no fucking way"
-
how much do you weight?

Both grips reversed? you mean both overhand grips...
Yeah... I've never been able to do one hand over and one under. And if you're using straps I don't really think its neccessary to do so! I used to do 500 lbs few years back, hoping to get back up to that!
How life back in the mother land?

oh ya i meant overhand grips.. as you know english is my 7th language :P
i prefer overhand grips too as they are more symmetrical but when i want to do only one heavy rep i do the typical one hand over / one hand under as this makes me lift more!!..
nothing new in egypt.. same ppl same streets same everything.. not the best place in the world but you can do nothing but LOVE it ;D

wow,,, thats a big lift for doubleoverhand grip big a,,,, you got 500 like that too...? nice,,,
those over under are cool bc you can pull more but for bb'n, throws off the symmetry, i do one rep then switch,,, gotta make sure i do even reps so i hit both sides, lol.
you be back to 5 n change in no time, post the vid when u get it

Thanks for the props bro! I was using straps so it ain't that impressive lol. I Actually pull LESS weight when i do one over/one under lol weird
And yeah, when I did 500 it was also both overhand, but of course with straps.
Then I watch a video of Layne Norton doing 700 lbs, no straps, both overhand, using a HOOK grip and I feel like a pussy LOL

230 lbs
TheRealist, I'll try that next week for sure!
Do you really weigh 230? If so why are you posting a video of yourslef Deadlifting 405? I hate to be negative but weighing 230 you should be pulling at least 550 for 6 before you consider it impressive.

No offence taken bro, you're right for 230 its not anything special at all. But I didn't know there was a weight limit on posting videos lol. Consider it something like a personal goal, since I hadn't done the exercise for months, I was happy with the way it went.
When I get 550 for 6 I'll make sure to PM you the video ;)

Was going to say, when I was 240 I was doing 500 for reps
-
Good Stuff my friend.
I can, with 100 percent assurance, verify that Big Ach was indeed pulling 500 plus. Ach, does the OCB board still exist and do Brian and Kurt still post?
-

The guy said he hasn't deadlifted in a few months and it wasn't like he was saying it was the greatest feat ever or anything....
And just for the record, years ago, I was repping 465 at 190.....so don't get too excited chief..... 8)

Yes at 230 he should be pulling 600. ::) ::) ::)
-
For the guys backing me up, thank you very much, your props are very much appreciated. But I'll fully admit, the ones criticizing really do have a point, a guy my size technically should be pulling more.
I've been as high as 500 in the past and hope to get back there again soon, but even 500 is not really all that.... there's another post on here with a guy weighing 172 and pulling 495 - NOW THATS BAD ASS!
At the end of the day, its all numbers, i'm not a powerlifter, and rarlely do I lift "heavy", when people see me in the streets or out at "the clubs" in my "spandex" or "graphic" shirts, they always think I am way stronger than I really am.
I'm not that strong, and I've always admitted that. I lift for "looks", both personal and competitive. My goal was always to get as big as I possibly can, it was not to lift as much as I possible can!
I just thought it was a cool video to post up!
Adonis, yes OCB board still exists, and I'm on there still :-D Kurt posts every now and then, not as much as he did in the past, its been quiter over there recently!

Nice. Looks like you could have put another 50lbs on the bar.
I love deadlifts. I think me and one other guy in the whole gym do them.
Everybody always stares at me like I'm fuckinng a grapefruit when I deadlift.
Big back day tomorrow morning...can't wait to start off with some deads.

Whats up bro...I actually meant no offence. I think u have a good build. Just ddnt see why a big 230 pounder should post a vid of a 405 DL looking for props, considering most 170 pounders can do it with ease.
Also why do u take ur weight SO high if u only compete at 170 something?
-
you could have done 15 reps :P
oh well, good stuff brah 8)
-

I have to agree you look like you could have done a lot more. But if you havent done them in months I guess hitting 5 would be a good start, lets see a video next week of 8-10 >:(
-
Good lifts dude. Have you tried a more even rep cadence, and not bouncing on the bottom? I found that when I slowed down my lift, and got rid of a bounce at the midpoint, i get much better development from the exercise. I had to lower the weight a bit, by I was muscling my way through the entire rep. My glutes, lower back and traps made the most noticeable improvements. Also, my squat improved as well. You mentioned your goal is more size than strength; I think that would make a diff., if you haven't tried it before.
Deadlifts are awesome, eh.

Because I like McDonalds LOLLL No offense taken!!!!
Thanks guys... Watching the video it actually looks real easy and like I coulda done more, but believe me I wanted to do 1 more and on that last negative I thought to myself "THERE'S NO FUCKING WAY" I was in fucking pain LOL! I got deadlifts again in two days!!! The Saga continues....
HeavyNbasic... Yeah one of my boys does deadlifts the same way you just mentioned and he was trying to get me to do it like that, but yeah that just looks too exhausting hahah, I'm too lazy for that LOL
