Maybe, maybe not.  We'll see just how honest LeBron was about whether he wants to win a championship.  I'll be surprised if he walks away from the money in Cleveland.

I've said since about mid-season that LA's no. 1 priority should be Mike Miller.  Not sure he's willing to take a pay cut.

Both Phil Jackson and Doc Rivers returning.  The two most important moves of free agency.   :)

Knicks are fucked if Lebron goes elsewhere.

...heard if they don't sign Lebron they might hold on to one max contract for next year and hope for Carmello.

Did he sign?? Joe Johnson fucking disappeared during the playoffs and then talked shit about how much he disliked playing in Atlanta.  :o I can only hope that Lebron leaves Cleveland but i think he stays.  >:( >:( I want that fucker out of Ohio.  >:( >:( He should go play for the nets and rap with Jay-Z.  8) Lebron would fit so much better in Chicago and they are already a playoff contender.  8) Fuck Lebrick.  :o Chris Bosh will end up in Miami and who the fuck would wanna stay in Toronto.  ;D

As usual it's going to be a bust, nowhere near as fascinating or revolutionary as advertised, like when you see the sexy trailer of an holywood action movie just to figure when you paid to watch it and are alrdy sit in the theater that you seen it all in the trailer already and that the scenario looks like it's been written by a (or for) a 6 y/o, or that you have seen the same unoriginal, uninspired childish crap 100000 times before.

I think Wade will stay, lebron will stay, bosh..who gives a fuck.

Wade can chill, his got millions, he has a ring..and his fucking gabrielle union
Lebron has the most pressure, all that money and hype = fuck all with no ring..his only 25 but each year he does not win the media will fry him.

Anyway Cleveland can offer him more money.

LMAO @ NY knicks if they dont get wade, lebron, they tanked and dumped players for the last 3 yrs for this and only have Amare to show for it.

I can see him signing another three year deal and when that is over the Nets will have their new arena in place...Lebrick will then move on to New Jersey and it will give Mikkael more time to bring in better players to help Lebrick out.  ;)

Are you serious..do you watch basketball...Behind Gasol, Bosh is the second most skilled big man in basketball. You cant name a more consistant offensive and defensive threat in the leauge. He has good post up as well as face up skills. Can put the ball on the floor against other big men and hit the outside jumper. And defends well on ball and help...I wish the lakers would trade bynum and brown for bosh...i would take that in a heartbeat

Lebrick should sign a three year deal and play for Cleveland.  ;) Lebrick should stay Global and make more money, Then in three years....Go to The Nets withe Billionaire owner, Jay Z and play in the new arena and in a better market. Lebrick is going to make mega $$$ no matter where he plays. Lebrick makes more money off Clothes and Busniess deals.  ;)

I can see him staying in Cleveland because they can pay him the most money.  But, his brand would be more valuable in NY.

In terms of winning, I'd say Chicago has the best roster.

I don't see how Miami can swing this.  They would have like five guys on the team if he goes there.

But why cleveland, he can make millions off the court, wade has bosh, boozer and rose, amare is a knick, if lebron stays in cleveland he will be with mo williams lol

his heart is in cleveland, he may stay there but the best decision is to get out of that hell hole.

If lebron stays in Cleveland then this whole free agency has been a anti climax, knick fans dont give a fuck bout Amare, they wanted james and bosh or wade or bosh or wade or james, nobody was photoshopping pics of Amare in a Knicks jersey.

He'll make a bunch of money wherever he goes, but in terms of salary Cleveland can pay him the most.

If he goes to Miami he sort of blends in with Wade and Bosh.  In NY he would be the man, even with Stoudamire there.

Frankly, I don't care where he goes.  I'm a little sick of all the hype for a guy who hasn't won anything yet.  He's going to need a second contract for his fat head.

Lebitch James is generating all kinds of heat in the sports world because of this ridiculous scheduled announcement he has planned. Every local radio show in each city is shitting on him because of his constant craving for attention.

He is such an egotistical asshole, no matter what his decision ends up being. Dude...reality check.....you have crazy athletic skills that enable you to put a 6(?) ounce ball in a metal circle on a more consistent basis than the average schmoe. The guy thinks he's a Deity or something. Try finding a cure for the common cold if you think you're so special, you fuck face.

NBA sucks balls in this present era. Isn't the season over with? Thank god NFL training camps open in a month.  :)

Rant over.

I know, he needs an hour long show to announce his decision, what the fuck is that, cant he just have a press conference like jordan did when he retired.

why the fuck do we need a hour show for any way, why is ESPN even entertaining this?? it take 2 seconds to tell us where he will choke next, he has not found a cure for aids or cancer.

but isn't that his goal?

he wants to be a global icon, he wants to be bigger than the game of basketball like MJ still is

i think he should go to chicago, i don't buy into this "playing in mj's shadows" nonsense, the bulls have stunk ever since mj left, he would be credited with resurrecting them even if he doesn't win 6 titles

they have a good young roster and it won't seem like he is joining an all star team bandwagon, like miami where wade already won

i don't think he can expect much more than he already has by styaing in cleveland, he'll hurt a lot of people but i think it isbest for his legacy to go to chicago, or new york

It probably is his goal.  I agree with most of what you said, although I think he can win in Cleveland.  They're a player or two away.

Lebron will NEVER win in Miami. How is this guy going to be able to play with two top all-stars who want the rock as much as him? Who is takin the last shot during crunch time? You can't compare the situation to the Celtics trio of Garnett, Allen, and Pierce. Those guys play as a TEAM.

Miami now is a team with three max contract guys and a bunch of fill-ins. They're probably going to get pick up tons of washed up former all-star free agents trying to piggyback for a shot at a ring. They just traded Beasley to Minnesota. I'm sure he's thrilled to be leaving South Beach for sunny, warm Minnesota. ;D

They'll be an interesting team to watch next season, that's for sure. How about the owner of the Cavs slamming Lebron right now in the press? Classic!

Why is the cleveland owner so hurt? maybe lebron should of told the guy about his decision before announcing it to the world, if anyone deserves to know before anyone else it had to be him...

bad luck, owners always trade players without regard so fuck it, business is business, very unprofessional what gilbert did, Lebron is a free agent he is allowed to go anywhere he like..

Look at all these selfish fuks in cleveland, its all about them, how bout how lebron feels, his the one that has to live with his decision, his the one that has to train everyday, his the one thats going to have bad knees at 31, im happy for the guy, making millions, driving lambos, fucking topshelf girls and playing in south beach...Congratulations Lebron, Cleveland was bringing you down, you put 7yrs in and they surrounded you with Mo williams, fat ass shaq and jamison lol...Best of luck in Miami Lebron, have a great time and enjoy yourself.

P.S that was awesome how he said "im taking my talents to south beach" every cav fan had a fucken coronary lol

Gilbert's acting like a scorned 7-year-old girl that didn't get the pony she wanted for Christmas.

Maybe he should have assembled a better supporting cast for Lebron and then he would have stuck around. I think it was Bill Simmons that wrote a good article on how every championship team has at least 2 star players and that Cleveland would never win one because it was only Lebron carrying the load. Who did he have to step up in the playoffs besides himself? Couldn't rely on anyone and that's why it was smart to jump ship.

BOOM....
Thats what i said...You need a TEAM...not 3 dudes who play best with ball in hand. Bulls were great because PIP was awesome WITHOUT the ball..He made things happen. Worthy with the Lakers...Great Finisher and great without the ball..Lebron has to do his bull rush from the left side of the key to be effective....Wade..Well he is just awesome.. And Bosh Needs to be a total POST player...Enough wings on that team..He needs to be in the low post...of which he dosent want to be..

This team is nothing like the Celtics. HMMM Ray Allen dosent need to start the offense..he just needed to be in the right spots. The only people on that team who needed the ball was Peirce and Rondo..And Rondo passed

On an unrelated note, Mike Miller is signing with Miami.  Dang.

i don't see how having 2 or 3 super teams and 20 + bad teams can be a good thing for any league

people really have learned nothing from the nfl

The proof is in the pudding.  People want to see superstars.  That's why the 80s were great.  That's why Jordan sold out opposing team's arenas.  That's why Shaq and Kobe sold out visiting arenas.  And that's why Miami will be a huge draw wherever they play.

In both the NBA and the NFL, we've always had a handful of elite teams in any given year.  Plus, I don't think mediocrity sells very well.

I should clarify that they want to see superstars playing on great teams.  I think this explains why Bosh was one of the best kept secrets in the NBA.  He's a great player, but his team sucks, so nobody watched them (no national TV exposure, etc.).

This Miami trio will create much more excitement and interest in the league than LeBron staying in Cleveland.

I'm really looking forward to next season, with Boston, Orlando, Miami, LA, San Antonio, Chicago, etc.  Should be a great season.

Hindsight.  They could have taken Carmelo, but he plays the 3 and they were happy with Prince.  But like Doug said, they won a championship after drafting Darko.

He is a colossal bust though.

Fish staying in LA.  Very happy about that.

Doesn't look like LA has a chance with Mike Miller, who is supposed to sign with Miami, but others on the radar are Raja Bell, McGrady, and Barnes.  Any one of them would be good bench players.

Interested to see how Miami fills out its roster.

Just one blunder after another.

Interviewer was on LeBron's payroll

LeBron James paid the "journalist" who interviewed the hoops megastar for the ESPN special that revealed his decision to sign with the Miami Heat, it was revealed yesterday. Jim Gray, a freelance sports reporter, was paid by an entity set up by James' marketing team, not by ESPN -- a fact not disclosed to the sports network's viewers during Thursday's softball interview, CNBC reported.

I was going to say fisher is to old, but the dude is clutch every freaken year, he should retire a laker, buss should employ him later on.

Im going to say this and watch this happen, wade, lebron and bosh will NOT last..one will be traded, not this season but next season, most likely bosh, he will complain about lack of plays and his averages will drop...lebron is tradeable as well.

Fish is clutch.  Can't guard my mother during the regular season, but he is tough and always shows up in the playoffs.  He did a phenomenal job on Ray Allen in the Finals.

I'm reserving judgment on the Miami situation.  That is an incredibly talented trio.  I do question whether they can win a ring, but that is as good a foundation as you can get in today's NBA.

It was after LeBron James signed with Miami Heat that he really burned the Cleveland Cavaliers

Published: Saturday, July 17, 2010, 10:36 PM     Updated: Saturday, July 17, 2010, 10:57 PM
Brian Windhorst, The Plain Dealer

LeBron James would make no promises to players the Cavaliers were trying to recruit to Cleveland, but now he's taking an active role in trying to bring players to Miami.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. Many people described LeBron James going on national television to announce his divorce from the Cavaliers as pouring salt in a new wound.

That may be how many fans feel but the salt to the Cavs in the entire ordeal was not the TV show. That came in the ensuing 10 days when they saw the type of contract James signed, and his actions after he left Greenwich, Conn.
When James signed his last contract with the Cavs, as is well-known, he opted to take less than the maximum contract and settled for three years so that he would be a free agent this summer. Though that may seem like a long time, from a development standpoint in the NBA, it isn't.

The Cavs were "on the clock" as it were, especially during the past two seasons as it was obvious teams like the Knicks, Nets and Heat were clearing cap space to get ready for a shot at James. The team bet "short" on a lot of roster moves in an effort to keep the team as competitive as possible at that instant.

This included making trades for older players like Ben Wallace, Shaquille O'Neal and Antawn Jamison, all deals that James pushed for because he wanted to win a title as soon as possible.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas is heading to Miami after talking with LeBron James.

During the past two summers when free agents the Cavs were interested in called James, he was non-committal about his future. He hoped players would come play with him but he was not on the front of the recruiting lines. He was also unwilling to give any sign he was going to be in Cleveland long term.

These tactics cost the Cavs several players, most notably Trevor Ariza last summer, who did not sign with the Cavs after not getting a commitment from James.

Like leaving in free agency, this is absolutely James' right as a premier player. Forcing his team to spend money and stay competitive in the short term is him looking out for his best interests. The Cavs gladly accepted the gamble and nearly every other team in the league would have accepted the same circumstances to have a player like James.

But then James signed a six-year contract with the Heat and instantly began recruiting other free agents. He called up former teammates Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Jawad Williams.

Ilgauskas signed a free-agent contract with the Miami Heat on Saturday and will now play for a team other than the Cavaliers for the first time in his NBA career.

James also pitched friend Mike Miller. He waited at the airport for Derek Fisher's private jet to land so he could make a personal plea for him to come to Miami.

There's probably been a lot more that has not become public.

Again, this is of course his right and prerogative. A star player should want players to come to his team. And now that he's signed for six years, the free agents are comfortable in coming. It is no wonder Miller signed for five years.

What the Cavs want to know is why, despite doing everything James asked and attempting to trade for as many top players as they could, they were not afforded anywhere near the same opportunity as James is already giving a team he's been with for less than two weeks.

In his comments in ESPN's "Sunday Conversation" last weekend, James blamed Cavs owner Dan Gilbert for not considering the long term.

What the Cavs wanted to scream at the TV and have been seething about privately all during the Vegas Summer League is how could they when James himself had them shackled to the short term.

It's not like he voided his contract or demanded a trade, he was free and left on is own terms, thats how life should be, fuck, NBA owners trade players all the time, uprooting families and kids from there schools and no one talks about that..I have changed my tune, Im with lebron on this one.

For me, leaving isn't the issue.  I could care less if he stayed in Cleveland, went to NY, Miami, or wherever.  It's how he handled the whole process that I have a problem with.

I agree owners can be cutthroat, but this isn't the NFL where most of the contracts aren't guaranteed.  The vast majority of NBA players get paid whether they get cut or not.

Cleveland treated LeBron like a "king."  Gave him whatever he asked for.  Paid him millions.  Brought in Shaq and Jamison just for him.  In return, he did resurrect the franchise, but he also (as the article points out), cost Cleveland several very good FAs because he wouldn't just say whether he was staying or going, and treated them with no class during the latter stages of the process.

I don't think Gilbert will have trouble getting players to come.  At the end of the day, your typical NBA player (average, good, great) is not going to turn down a multimillionaire dollar guaranteed contract.

If anything it shows how dumb clevelands managment was, he did not tell other players he was staying if anything thats a tell tale right there, the players that want to stay just sign and move on like Durant and Kobe,

I remember in earlier posts you said he was staying, and i said he was leaving, why would he and espn hold a hour special to say "Im staying". If i could see what was going on as a spectator why couldnt the cavs see it, unless he told gilbert " Im staying, you have my word" then i would understand.

Lebron really wants a ring, shaq and jamison were flops, players need not to manage a team,  for chrissake michael jordan picked kwame brown as the 1st pick in the draft and ruined the wizards for years.

every star player get what they want on there respective teams, they all get millions etc, Cleveland showed me nothing special on why they thought they deserve lebron more.

The one hour special was the dagger to Clevelands heart, i can see why gilbert lost it, but his old enough to not act bitch like.

To me it shows that the franchise was loyal to LeBron.  In hindsight it was dumb to allow him to walk all over the franchise, but they really didn't know he was doing to rip their hearts out on national TV.

I didn't think he was going to leave after announcing his hour-long TV special, because I didn't think he would be that heartless/classless.  I was wrong.

Jordan's take:

Jordan wouldn't have called Magic, Bird
ESPN.com news services

Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to six titles. And while he had Scottie Pippen, there is little question the Bulls were Jordan's team.

There's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team.'

-- Michael Jordan

So what does Jordan, one of the best-ever in the NBA, think of LeBron James joining with All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to form a super team in Miami?

"There's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team,' " Jordan said after playing in a celebrity golf tournament in Nevada. The interview aired on the NBC telecast of the event. "But that's ... things are different. I can't say that's a bad thing. It's an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys."

James, who played his first seven seasons with his home state Cleveland Cavaliers, was part of one of the most celebrated free agent classes in history this summer. He met with the Cavs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets.

James let the world know he was taking his talents to South Beach in an hour-long TV special on July 8.

TNT analyst Charles Barkley said James' decision may change his legacy.

"He'll never be Jordan," Barkley told 790 the Ticket in Miami earlier in the week. "This clearly takes him out of the conversation. He can win as much as he wants to.

"There would have been something honorable about staying in Cleveland and trying to win it as 'The Man' ... LeBron, if he would've in Cleveland, and if he could've got a championship there, it would have been over the top for his legacy, just one in Cleveland. No matter how many he wins in Miami, it clearly is Dwyane Wade's team."

they must have hurt him too.

Wouldn't mind taking a flyer on one of the washed up vets for the minimum (McGrady, etc.).
