its the star-bucks and crowds like that that i am talking about....i've seen the word ethernet getting thrown around by netflix watching liberal types at star-bucks all too often so...consider this a rant...at least this way when u say ethernet...you wont hafta be a dumbfuk that says the word and doesn't know what it means
Ethernet ws first developed by Xerox (dont quote me on this). It is a term coined by The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or IEEE.
SIMPLY PUT...it defines standards for physical cabling and transmission of signals (electricity) over that cabling. Those standards say that you may transmit 10mbps (mega bytes per second) in half duplex (between 2 parties only 1 party may transmit at a time or an electrical collision will happen) using CSMA/CD (carrier sense multiple access with collision detect) running.
CSMA/CD > if a collision happens...all transmitters back of for random time periods and then try n re transmit to lessen a chance of a repeat collision...

Nobody on this site or in real life gives a flying shit about your 'cisco' certificates, the only person in the world who thinks they're cool is you, if I gave a lecture on cutting down code by implementing assembler routines and sub-routines you wouldn't have a f*cking clue what I would be talking about, oh and I know enough about firewalls to cover my own ass and network... :D

true...VERY true...i'm a hyper specialist(sorta*..explained below)...and about 1 yr from now i'll be a consultant.....my girl is a minority female (greek)..it'll be a biz under her name...then i dont work for anyone.
*i have cisco certs..yes..that sorta makes me a cisco guy...well does it?? 99% of the knowlodge here is open engineering knowledge...what makes me a cisco expert is that i know the commands to implement the knowlodge in a cisco world. if i were to work on a juniper router...lets say....its STILL THE SAME LOGIC...i'd just have to change the command. BIG friggin deal ::) its like knowing how to drive manual and having to learn where reverse is in europe as opposed to in america...doesn't mean u wont be able to drive the car now does it? :-\

Being a shit-hot tech doesn't necessarily translate into profit. Please educate yourself on all the aspects of running your business which have nothing to do with your current education and make sure you're making good contacts in the meantime. Sales and admin will not run themselves no matter how great you are at doing the actual job. And both you and the missus might have to prepare yourselves mentally for not getting rich quick. Breaking into the game might take a few years. And god help you if you have to start hiring.
Fwiw, I'd think twice about putting the business (& business accounts) in your partner's name. If it's tax benefit and suit indemnity you're after, consider a trust with you both as beneficiaries... but yourself as director. Not sure about tax and indemnity advantages of an LLC etc vs a trust in the US but talk to a few accountants.
Enough preaching from me, Jun. Sure you know all this already.

i'll start with...i trust me girl 100%...i'm working my ass of for her...if not for her....fuck my brains...i'd be happy working as a waiter on a cruise ship. that being said.
there will be no sales people on my team...it'll be me...my wife...my buddy who is actually technically superior to me( for now) and also a future CCIE and his wife. I don't know what u mean by getting rich quick...both myself and him are currently turning down 6 figure jobs to get our CCIEs done..(highest offer ws 120k/yr )..and our girls r working to keep us afloat. My teaching experience has given me contacts...for the FBI...SAIC...JP Morgan...etc etc...and people i have taught in the past r now GOOD friends.....they'd have no problem choosing me over someone else for their technical expertise....
IF i have to hire....trust me...there will be a STRICT hiring check on my part

i have ONE...count it...ONE friggin friend...i'll forward u his resume if u want! he is SO friggin respectful of me that if we go eat together....and the food arrives...HE WILL NOT EAT A SINGLE BITE TILL I START EATING....i've fucking tested him on this...and we have sat for 30 mins with our food getting cold...I TRUST HIM WITH MY LIFE. This field is soooo vast that i cannot really count on myself for remembering EVERYTHING..even if i have read it in the past(24, 900ish pg books n counting). i'm fucking smart...there i said it...i have a blazing understanding of complex problems...BUT...so does he....and now n then u DO forget some shit that might cost your client 20k if u happened to type the wrong command on a production router....i'm his wall to lean on and he is mine :)
and complex problems...that r out opf reach of other engineers....bring it! ;) i live n die for such problems...cause otherwise..I'm always bored

Well, the food thing is a little peculiar, lol. It it was me, I'd start my own company and have him do the same, and then contract to one another as the need arises. Unless, of course, you feel confident that you could exploit him to your advantage. ;D (Welcome to business, leave your soul at the door.) Failing that, I'd want to iron out every contingency while feelings are still good. The inequitable distribution of profits or losses could change the mood real quick further down the line. And like I said, I'd have the business and the bank account in my name, not the wife's. At the very least both names jointly. But leaving your name off altogether is lunacy.
Most important is to get some independent advice without your girl or prospective partner in the room. It'll cost you a couple hundred but it might be the best money you ever spent.

i am taking a break cause i'm being lazy...i never really need it in all honesty...my body might get tired but my brain has yet to quit on me...but i think i deserve 2 days off.
as for my notes...they r almost a book...they get written in 3 stages...
stages
1> rough drafts
2> formulated ideas from rough drafts and comprehensive details
3> eventually making it to my "good" notebook where there r no errors...or re hashing of ideas....only confirmed truths make it here...this is my personal reference manual and one day it'll get converted to a tech book. its 500pages n counting (obviously not all this iscontained in 1 physical notebook)
