Post by: Parker on November 03, 2010, 04:23:20 PM

The Funkees

Afrobeat pretty much was started by Nigerian Fela Kuti, for those who don't know, think Bob Marley meets James Brown meets Jimi Hendrix...Fela Kuti's albums are known for being like 4 or 5 songs, but each song is like 15-20 mins long...

Many of their songs were striaght Jams when think about, the "One Of These Things Dont belong", even Mr.Rogers had some smooth Jazz. The Electric Company had some bangers, like the "BloodHound Gang" theme song (coincidently, I think the lightskinned dude died of drugs)

The children's shows now suck...no head nodding songs...

If I ever have kids, I'm making them watch DVDs of Children's shows from the 70s and 80s. They'll know how to count, have fun and have a healthy appreciation for good music.

A totally racist video, but if you were growing up in the '70's this will bring back memories. It was a touchstone:

I have great videos for the little one. Electric Company, Conjunction, I'm just a bill. She doesn't understand some of it but she likes it. Also, cartoons from back then, ya know, smurfs, care bears, popeye, steamboat willy, woody woodpecker, we both big fans of Tom and Jerry

funny how some cartoons, like the ending of the Flintstones, when you think about are trifling, cause what Fred does seems almost like the beginning of a Domestic Violence situation.

I was talking about the music, take a listen to the music I posted, one from Blo, the other from The Funkees. Regardless to how they feel about "us" afrobeat was inspired by Black Am. music---specifically James
Brown. I listen to a lot of Afrobeat artists.
and Buffie The Body is not fat >:(

I had thought about finding some Sesame Street puppets and posting some youtubes of them doing some old school R&B songs, shit would be funny and entertaining

And of course a show called "The Muppet Massacres"

That's because African people tend to be really chill and friendly. Then they come to America and see the black people acting really angry, rude, and lost in ghetto culture, and they do a big face palm.

I agree with the African people on this one.....

Of course lots of African-American people are really cool. But a huge percentage of them are just lost in a world of anger and resentment.

Unfortunately you dolt, that is a small part of it, the bigger part is because they believe that they are superior, because they are "pure bred", and blacks of the Americas and the Caribbean are mixed. Kinda like Euros thinking their superior to Am whites

but, this thread is not a discussion race, African vs.Black American. Obviously, you must not have watched any of the programming that has been posted up

and G, you didn't listen to the music? Man, it's tight...

You see, the Hanna-Barbera cartoons had "personality", as did most cartoons of the 40s-80s. Now, this anime shit comprises of mostly twinkish dudes over acting/drama queens, with feminine hair, and are white people with Japanese names...
