Title: My opinion on WWE pro wrestling these days
Post by: Firemuscle on December 06, 2010, 05:01:12 PM
I can't even watch it anymore. It's gone in a really bad direction.

In the 80's it was just kinda goofy and funny, over the top.

In the 90's it was funny because they were pushing the limits and there were so many different wrestlers. It was still kinda goofy and had a lot of comedy. WCW was expecially cool back then.

Now, it sucks because it's too serious. When I watch wrestling now they have these huge dialogues that last like 5 minutes, where they are zooming in on the guy's faces, with all this bullshit drama and bad acting. It's like they are trying to turn it into some Shakespearian play or something. It makes me cringe to watch it.

It seems like it is totally dominated by a much smaller number of wrestlers. The same 10 guys over and over, while it used to be about 30 guys in the spotlight.

It seems like they aren't doing as awesome of wrestling moves. Probably for safety reasons and to avoid injury. But you just don't see the great powerbombs and slams like you used to. I heard it's because too many guys were fucking up their necks, but anyway, it's not as fun to watch.

With all the anti-steroid propaganda, the wrestlers have shrunk down. The awesome steroid freaks of the past are being replaced by much more average looking guys.

I don't wanna see huge dialogues, if I wanted that i'd go down to the theatre. I wanna see funny shit, awesome slams, huge steroid freaks, dangerous moves, and jaw-dropping shit. Wrestling has lost these qualities and it sucks.

Of course i'm talking about WWE here. I'm sure the other organizations are doing cool stuff but I never take the time to watch them.

This, wrestling will never be the same again - the mid to late 90's was the peak of wrestling for both federations.

TNA was showing signs of promise a year or two ago, not anymore...Hogan, EB and Russo are killing it very quickly.

I agree. As a thirty year old guy. Watching WWF and WCW during the Monday night wars with my buddies was a weekly tradition. Alot of people look back to the eighties as the best, but for me the nineties was the peak.

The Monday night wars was why it was so good....wCw/nWo kicked the WWF's arse for 80 odd weeks because they pushed the envelope in and out of the ring, kept things fresh and exciting.

What do we have now?  The same 3-4 story lines being played out over and over again.

Bill Goldberg hit the nail on the head on the rise and fall of wCw DVD - if you buy out your competition whats going to push you to do better?

If they weren't brought in, they couldn't kill it. Gotta blame the top brass for that mistake, Dixie/whoever.
Last tiem I even saw TNA I saw mick foley/hogan/Bischoff and a couple other WWE retirees......what happened to the TNA guys they started with? LMAO talk about loyalty......... ;D

I have been watching the show my entire life. This is the absolute worst it's ever been! I cannot believe they split up the Hart Dynasty? And that Scottish guy on Smackdown with the long hair is going no where fast. They have so much talent being wasted. $ Jr. and Morrison could both be something really great but they are not doing anything with them. I'll still watch it until the day I die.
I agree with spiltting up the Harts. They have killed the tag division, they should just get rid of it at this point. The list is endless of teams they split up and did nothing after; Cryme Tyme, Cade and Murdoch etc... I disagree about Dibiase..he has no charisma, can't talk and nothing makes him standout. He looks like a generic wrestler you make in a video game. Morrison is good, but his prmos are god awful. He sounds like he is reading from cue cards. They have a lot of young talent; Drew, Sheamus, Barrett etc they just need
