July 4th 1982, The Omni in Atlanta. Look at the cooperation between the WWF and the NWA. This card is right up there next to "A Night of Champions" at the Brenden Byrne Arena.
The Super Destroyer pinned Tom Pritchard.
Kevin Sullivan pinned Mr. Saito
Leroy Brown beat John Studd via countout in a "Texas death" match.
National Tag Champs Terry Gordy & Michael Hayes beat Wild Samoans Afa & Sika.
Don Muraco pinned Dusty Rhodes
National Champ Paul Orndorff beat Jimmy Snuka via DQ.
Masked Superstar pinned Mr. Wrestling II.
Ivan Putski & Tom Pritchard beat NWA Tag Champs Stan Hansen & Ole Anderson via DQ.
NWA World Champ Ric Flair DCO WWF World Champ Bob Backlund.

Sounds very interesting.

During that era Georgia had some great "super cards." They would bring in "dream" tagteams to face the Road Warriors on a regular basis.
-
Man all those guys were street tough...
-
Just read on Amazon that Animal's book is being released soon.
-
there were a lot of great matches at the omni in the 80s.

Animal has some interesting shoot interviews / stories. He was really stiff in the ring and admits to it.

I wonder how much of his own "dirt" he'll get into, seeing as how he's now part of that "Born-Again" coalition (I'm not sure if that's the proper name/term) with Nikita Koloff.
Speaking of which, I know that Nikita was supposed to have written a few books, with one of them being a planned autobiography.
Anybody know anything more about it?

I know Hawk was very active with Nikita, but didn't know Animal was.
Haven't heard about Nikita having a book.....would be a good read. A former store mgr of mine who is now a minister near Charlotte knows Nikita quite well....they have worked together some. He can't say enough good things about Nikita. Great guy who kept it all in perspective and is living a life he really enjoys now. I'll hit my buddy up and see if he knows anything about Nikita having a book.

Keep me in the loop too! I would like to know about a possible Nikita bood too. Sounds very interesting.

Will do. I just emailed my buddy. As soon as I hear anything I'll post it up.

Listen around the 6:15 mark; he talks about his book projects.
This interview was from May, 2006:

I don't know how "involved" Animal and Nikita's other wrestling buddies are in the ministry, but these were taken at different events:

Great pics Monty. My friend said the last time he saw Nikita, probably a couple of yrs ago, he still looked good. He looks great in that last pic.

here's a card for you
-
Ha!
You just reminded me...
A few years ago, a freind of mine gave me an old, single-color poster promoting, I believe, a WWWF card at some high school in Western PA.
Many of those old posters didn't have a year or promotion name printed on them.
I'll have to look for it.
It had quite a few of the same names as the one you posted:
Putski
Monsoon
Bruno
Scicluna
I think it also had DeNucci, Defazio, and maybe Fuji.
What really caught my eye was the Hulkster's name - at the time, billed as "The Incredible" Hulk Hogan.
;)

Another card that comes to mind is the original "A Night Of Champions At the Brendan Byrne Arena". I have the program and pin from this card. Steamboat vs. Flair was the headliner. First time in awhile the NWA came up East.
Of course you have the "Last Battle Of Atlanta" also which was one awesome card and historic. Too bad no footage is around of that. Seems that they used to tape over shows and reuse to save money. Cornette, I believe said that Ole had all this footage but I doubt it.

Interesting that Nikita had only a 9 yr run...why did he stop...
I think his old partner Krusher Khruschev (sp) had has the most gimmicks......aka Demolition, repo man, golfer barry darso.etc etc

Nikita retired after a match with Vader.
A stiff clothesline from Vader resulted in cervical herniation.
Nikita also apparently incurred another hernia attempting to slam Vader in that same match.
