Awesome thread!!
I love the Valentine one.
I have clinical rotations all day tomorrow, but when I get the time, I'll try to post some of my own.
I think I put up a good many on the main pictures thread.
The rest are on my old hard drive, which is a pain in the ass to hook up.

That is an awesome pic of Flair and typical after on of his big title defences back in the mid eighties against the local hero. The Blanchard pic is cool too!
-
Glad you guys like them. There is a website called mid-atlantic gateway where I found them. But rather than link it where many might not take the time to go, I thought I'd just post a few.
Physically, I think that is the best pic of Tully I have seen. And the guys cardio was legendary, he never blew up in matches.
I saw Flair look like that more times than I can count. It was unusual for him NOT to bleed.....haha

Now, this is a wrestler:

Who is that, Lizzy?

A young Antonio Rocca??

Lou Thez :D
-
Wow, I would never have guessed Thesz !!! He was incredible.
-
I love this story from Thesz's bio:
"In 1963, Thesz came out of semi-retirement to win his sixth World Heavyweight Championship from Buddy Rogers, at the age of 46. Legend has it that Rogers was having second thoughts about dropping the title, and Thesz responded by saying, "we could do this the easy way or the hard way" . He would hold the title until 1966 when, at the age of 49, he was dethroned by Gene Kiniski."

haha, awesome story! Thesz was a total badass to be able to do what he did during that era. He was the toughest of a bunch of legit tough guys.

Great Jake pics, never saw them before. I remember when he first came to mid-atlantic they brought him in as a face.
And is that Flair on the right in the last pic?

No wonder it was once "Handsome" Harley Race..... ;D
And in the AWA group pic, I can name everybody except the guy looking over Hogan's shoulder....can't see him very well. Same with the guy to Shultz's left and the guy next to him....
-
The guy to Schultz's left might be Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie/Gnrl. Adnan.
I'm not entirely sure, though.
Next to him, I'd say Kenny Resnick, but that's a bigger "maybe."
Biggest "maybe" goes to the guy looking over Hogan's shoulder: is that possibly a very young Curt Hennig?
Man, I usually do pretty well with old pics, but this one is tough!

That is def Adnan, but i meant the guy you called Resnick and the bald guy who's face you can't really see next to him. And I'm with you, I can't place the guy over Hogan's shoulder.....possibly Tom Zenk, as he's near to Martel. But I'm not even sure he was in the AWA at the time.
Otto Wanz looking svelt....haha And Patera as a Shiek was comical.

I will admit that. Jeez. Of course, I remember you knowing that picture 15 years ago. What is freaky is that you still remember.
I guess you didn't partake in as many Steve-weisers as you let on like.

Is that Jake with Paul Jones and Funk?
Sure is. Have you been to Mid-Atlantic Gateway recently? There is a pic of Paul Jones in a cowboy hat on the front page....he's posing with Nelson Royal, Destroyer and a snowman..... 8)

Okay, this was really bugging me:

The guy looking over Hogan's shoulder is AWA referee Gary DeRusha.
And, as for the bald guy standing behind Gene, I'll bet dollars to pesos that's Superstar.
And, I've confirmed that the guy between Adnan & Okerlund is, indeed, Kenny Resnick.

Even Dusty looks cool there.
Man I wish I could have followed Bockwinkle somewhere other than the magazines.

I agree on Superstar, that was my only guess, and I remember at one point he did the "sheik' thing as well. Very unusual during this time period to see faces and heels in a pic like this. Wish there were more.

I agree that it's unusual.
Makes me believe this may have been from Verne's personal collection rather than something published in a magazine.
Although, it does have a magazine look, doesn't it?
Hogan only worked for Verne from '81-'83, so we can narrow down the timeframe this pic was taken.

Possibly the Iron Sheik?

Possibly the Iron Sheik?
That's a good guess, but Sheik was gone from AWA by the time Hogan came in.

Great one.....and most people forget, he missed Backland. I was watching the match where he nailed Muraco with it on TV. Just insane.

Hi Playboy!
I don't recall seeing your name on the "approved female posters" list...
But since you allow me to post on the girly board twice per year, I'll wave that sexist rule.
