There were a shitload of funny threads in the Y and V in 2005-2006, but BSB and later, Blockhead nuked nearly the whole board. And Davidpaul deleted a whole bunch of funny stuff in the V. Same goes for the X board, which was hilarious years ago (you probably know about that).
The Y and the V were busier back then than the G&O is now.

I do recall how funny and active the alphabet boards were ( I miss posting on the X a lot still :'( ) .. that was some of the best fun ever to read the boards back then .. there are a lot of MIA posters from that time

There are still a bunch of threads in the G&O, but they have a different feel than the ones that were in the Y/V, IMO. Probably because the ones in here had a more "familiar" crowd unlike the G&O, where random people jump in and post something.
I still remember PMing Ron (Rude did the same), asking him if I can mod the V, right after BSB nuked the whole Y, which pissed off a lot of people including me, lol. Good times.

Back in the day the people on the alpha's were judged by their wit and creativity, I think we lost something when the whole "post your pic" thing came along. Now we have countless posters with 10,000+ posts who don't say a thing or are even mildly funny or entertaining. Posters used to have to prove their merit through cunning and quick wit ( run the V board gauntlet), we lost that edge, nows it's all personal with people's family getting exposed
