Due to clean eating and training and running big runs monthly, put a whack in my internal stuff. Was prescribed medroxyprogesterone. I read about it but was wondering if you know of anyone that has used it.

Some laboratory animals who were given medroxyprogesterone developed breast tumors. It is not known if medroxyprogesterone increases the risk of breast cancer in humans. Medroxyprogesterone may also increase the chance that you will develop a blood clot that moves to your lungs or brain.
I know you are committed to your goal of being lean and running .. but did the Dr. suggest maybe a short break in the intensity of your diet and workouts to see if your period goes back to normal ? did he suggest a bone density test ? .. I know I would rather have 10-15 pounds more weight and reduce running than risk breast tumors or blood clots :o
there's so much risk in taking it I'd be looking for a better route .. but that's me

I looked it up and it seems that Depo-Provera is one of the brand names and my old doc had me shot w/that once. I didn't like it but I have a friend who has been on it for years and she really likes it.
What are the possible side effects of Provera?
Stop taking Provera and seek emergency medical attention or call your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following serious side effects:
an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
shortness of breath or pain in your chest;
a sudden severe headache;
visual changes;
a painful, red, swollen leg;
numbness or tingling in an arm or leg;
prolonged, heavy, vaginal bleeding;
stomach or side pain; or
yellowing of your skin or eyes.
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur.
Continue to take Provera and talk to your doctor if you experience
changes in appetite or weight,
swelling of your hands or feet,
changes in your menstrual cycle,
depression,
acne,
an increase in body or FACIAL hair :o :o or hair loss,
tenderness of the breasts,
nausea,
headache or insomnia,
changes in your voice, or
areas of darker skin.
Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

She didn't. But I did take last week off from eating clean and training. Going light this week as well. Iron is good, all blood work fine. As far as breast tissue, I've had a mass density on my right one for years. Since 2007, I've had 4 mammograms. First one was basically to get an idea, the following year I went back, (this after my weight loss). That doctor found it hard to believe it was the same boobs LOL. He did an MRI the following week. Not fun laying face down and them sagging in the wind with that gawd awful sound. I finally said, listen, this thing is still there, can't ya drain it or something. They no doubt think it's cancer but because I requested it, I go next week for a mammo and the following week it shall be drained.
I have been informed runners, have the menstrual cycle way off due to constant running but that is more for like the elite runners.
