Branch Warren to Sit Out the 2011 Mr. Olympia

2011 Arnold Classic Champion Branch Warren will be sitting out the 2011 Mr. Olympia on September 16 & 17 in Las Vegas. Warren was a favorite to challenge for the title, but with only four weeks to go he suffered a torn quad tendon in his left leg. As often is the case, the injury didn't happen in the gym; Warren was in Atlanta for a guest posing appearance and he slipped on wet pavement getting into a car.
After dominating the Arnold earlier in the year, Warren had his sights set on the sports biggest title: Mr. Olympia. This injury is tragic for bodybuilding fans across the globe that looked forward to seeing Warren's massive physique battling with the best in the world.
Everyone at FLEX wishes Warren a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him on stage next Spring to defend his Arnold Classic title!

Branch Warren left Atlanta this morning at 10:30 Eastern and expects to meet with his team of doctors at Baylor Hospital immediately after landing in Texas (approximately 11:30 Central time.) After phone consultations with his doctors they are prepared to perform surgery tomorrow morning if they think it is necessary. Currently his knee is swollen and his leg is in a wrap. MuscularDevelopment.com will continue to provide updates to Warren's condition throughout today and in the days to come.

Branch, whatever his qualities as a person, is simply the scapegoat for a lot of fans' frustration at the downhill spiral in the quality of physiques.
But of course, because bodybuilders are getting bigger, we are told that to consider that progress...
In my opinion, bodybuilding peaked in 1993 and has been on the bloated, puffed up downhill run since then.

July 19, 2010 I fell down some stairs in my home and tore the tendon in my left leg that attaches my quad to my knee and tore all the muscles around my knee. I sat with the injury for two weeks, then had surgery and it took months of painful physical therapy to learn to walk again. This doesn't include the other complications I suffered that almost killed me either that I'm just now almost recovered from. God changed my life forever in those months and turned the worst circumstance of my life into the greatest circumstance of my life.....I've never experienced such divine grace, love and peace like I did in the solitude of my home slowly, painfully recovering after narrowly escaping death. Accidents can happen and they can be life changing.
