Title: ECA stack is not the magic bullet I thought it would be.
Post by: exocet on August 25, 2011, 06:22:41 AM
I have been using this since the beginning of the month. The first week I gained 1.5lbs, and then over the last  3 weeks I have lost 5 lbs. I had to quit using the aspirin after a couple of days because it was tearing up my stomach. I do 45 minutes of cardio 3x a week first thing in the morning before I eat, and work out the other 3 days a week. I try to drink alot of water, I cut back on calories and carbs.
I don't have a food diary yet, but I try to eat clean. I don't use gear, just whey protein after the weightlifting. Am I being impatient, or unrealistic with my expectations because I am comparing myself to guys who use gear?

Diet hard and do cardio. No need for eca if you follow a strict diet and do cardio.

I don't know what you're using for your ephedrine source, but IMO (and I have nothing clinical to support this), today's "E" products pale in comparison to the old ephedra for fat-loss.
Most people today are using either ephedrine-based bronchodilators, or weak ephedra plant alkaloids.
From my own experience with products like Bronkaid, I'm sorely disappointed in the results; however, some folks swear by its effectiveness.

I take one 25mg Bronkaid tablet with  one 100mg tablet of No Doz brand caffeine. The first dose in the morning, and the second in the afternoon for 6 days out of the week. When I first started I felt the energy rush, but it didn't take long for my body to get used to it. I don't plan on moving up to a 3rd dose or increased quantities. I don't want to be another person in the news giving ephedrine a bad name.  ;)
It is good to hear that I am not the only one who is somewhat disappointed with the results. However, I will stick with this regimen until the end of the month. When I try again in the spring, I will be sure to give it more time like starting in February or March in order to be ready for spring/summer.

Sensitivity, response, etc… individual biochemistry will yield slightly different results for everyone.

I wouldn’t concern myself with the aspirin. I don’t think it’s as “crucial” or even as effective as once thought.
If you want to thin your blood, take some garlic capsules. ;)

Hows your diet?

Not super strict but it is a major improvement from before. I don't compete, I just wanted to have visible abs. I don't have a food diary yet so I don't have an exact answer for you.
Generally,

After weightlifting I have a whey protein shake using 2% milk. This is 3 x  a week.
I generally drink water throughout the day or I drink sweet tea when I eat out.

[/list]

Post some updates that first week off this, if at all possible regarding state of mind.

Not super strict but it is a major improvement from before. I don't compete, I just wanted to have visible abs. I don't have a food diary yet so I don't have an exact answer for you.
Generally,
  • breakfast - 2-3 egg whites, some oatmeal or whole wheat toast
7-11g of protein
  • snack - almonds, triscuits
Junk carb
  • lunch - 6" sandwich at subway (flatbread, chicken breast, marinara sauce, provolone, spinach leaves) or
Jimmy Johns - slim (turkey & bread)
Processed meat & junk bread
  • snack - protein bar or a Clif energy bar
Junk food source
  • dinner - varies, but it is generally low fat.

After weightlifting I have a whey protein shake using 2% milk. This is 3 x  a week.
I generally drink water throughout the day or I drink sweet tea when I eat out. LOADED with sugar

I try to eat clean.

Read, read read the "archives".  You have a lot to learn about eating clean.

Princess L, thank you for pointing me in the right direction. At this point I just don't have to appetite to consume the calories suggested in the sample cutting diet. Maybe it's due to the EC and all of the water I drink throughout the day?!
Regardless, I will read through the archives here and keep trying to improve. Keep in mind, my dietary changes so far are a very big & positive improvement over my past history. Heck, when eating at McDonalds, getting to the 2,000 calorie mark was easy! :o

Even if you can't get all the calories you need at this time, you can still start eating cleaner.  6 egg whites for breakfast should be doable and don't be afraid of a yolk.  Oatmeal (in addition to the eggs) is good, but not that sugary stuff in the packets.  Avoid the bread unless you're getting the whole grain high fiber stuff. Cut back on the fast food.  Subway & Jimmy Johns is still fast food. Add some vegetables in there and some fruit.   Planning and advance preparation takes some effort, but it's worth it.  Sweet tea is no better than any other soft drink.  AVOID it.

All good points.
Also, sometimes I think that sugar-sweetened tea is actually worse than sodas because tea tends to go down a lot easier - hence, the amounts are easier to get out of hand.

Research has shown that Aspirin is not as effective as people think. If you want to continue using it, pick up one that is "enteric coded", will cut down on your stomach getting torn up.

I have personally found that the best thing an ECA stack does for me is that it helps me work out more intensely.  I take a stack a few minutes before my workouts (2x/day).

It's been over a week that I have stopped taking EC & I have had no negative side effects. My appetite is coming back though, not sure if this is a good thing or not. I miss the energy and the feeling of having very clear breathing. When I was using EC and doing cardio I felt invincible like Lance Armstrong!
No headaches, depression or anything like that. Keep in mind I was taking minimal doses and I tried to limit the extra caffeine in the form of tea or an occasional soda. I am going to try to keep up with the clean eating improvements figure out what to do until early spring. Should I switch to a bulking diet and try again later or just keep going on the current path? I am 5' 10" and around 212 lbs as I write this. I say "around" because my scale at home is not as good as the digital one I use at work.
