Title: Will I "grow" with this UNUSUAL routine
Post by: Bad Boy Dazza on September 07, 2011, 10:14:48 AM
I like to train with weights but also with 45 min boxing bag sessions, 20 minute speed bag sessions and other intense cardio endurance stuff.

But taking both boxing bag and weights to the max can be  physically overwhealming and too time consuming, so I came up with this idea...

Bi Weekly Routine

Week 1:  Weight training. Basically 1 body part per day worked to the max.  6 day week.  Probably including one all body workout with medium intensity.

Week 2:  3 days boxing bag, 3 days speed bag + other intense cardio/endurance activities.

Repeat Week 1 & 2.

Will I be able to make good muscle gains with this approach?  Any advice suggestions welcome.

BTW I am natural so no drug assistance.

Doing anything consistently will produce results. The thing is you have to decide what results you actually want. If you want maximum muscle mass - then no this is not going to work. If you want to stay in shape and have some muscular development then maybe this will work.

Diet will determine a large percentage of the results.

If i was you i would train only a few Basic moves  such as =

seated dumbbell press 4x5
Flat-footed squats      4x5
Bench press               4x5
Deadlift                     4x5

If you do that HARD 1X week  then you have more recovery time and you can get your Bag work in and cardio. Don't try to do a standard high volume routine because you will not recover. The reps and sets are an example, that is up to you.

Swap out the seated db press with standing military and you got yourself a better deal. ;)

You won't grow from that routine because you don't have time to recover. Change it up so you have lots of days off for recovery
