This one is going straight to DVD and should be a good Blu-Ray pick up. I am not expecting much though.

I am also looking forward to Paranormal Activity 3. The franchise has been a total hit for me. Any other great horror films you suggest Doug? I think I have seen most of them, but throw a few out and lets see. Kiwi suggested some Asian horror which I have Netflixed.

This is the second thing in my life that i know.  ;) Michigan sports is the first thing i know best.  8)

It depends on what you are looking for? I love 80's horror and B Horror Movies.

Asian and Korean horror films are pretty freaky, but ohhhh so good.  8)

I am not a fan of the new horror films and that includes Paranormal Activity series.  :-\ Sorry, bro.

Let us know what you have and have not seen...... 8) And then i can point you into the right direction.  ;)

I've searched through Netflix and I have already seen those that I thought were good.

Any examples? If they weren't too obscure and they were good i've probably seen them.

Never saw Slumber Party Massacre, I will look it up. I saw the Fog years ago might be time for a rewatch. Maniac Cop, never heard of it. Original Creepshow was real good, "Hold your breath" beach scene. Never saw part two, was it really worthwhile?

It was funny if you have some time to kill. I will watch "the Fog" today sometime.  8) I have seen it numerous times and i still love it. the sleep away camp series is a good one too and it has Bruce Springsteen's sister as the lead in that B series.   8)

For me funny and horror don't mix. I read some reviews on Slumber Party... and it didn't seem like the type of horror I enjoy. Seemed more slasher/campy. I enjoyed Paranormal because it seemed close to reality for me which made it good horror imo, the characters did an excellent job and were very believable. I don't like brutality for the sake of brutality I like when the brutality is backed up by a solid story and void of humor. So much of the horror genre is campy/slasher and thats why their are so few good horror films that I enjoy. So, if you know of  horror films with solid stories and a lot of intensity throw some of those out there.

Doug, you need to recommend some titles in my Asian & European horror movies thread. I haven't seen the second Hostel yet. Saw the first one and was put off by some of the scenes. I went through a phase in my 20s where I was watching a lot of movies that had gore for the sake of it, but got it out of my system.

Only seen the first 3 movies of the Saw series and didn't like it much.

I liked the first Hotel, but the second is, well, i will let you judge because i do not wanna tell you what happens.  :) I watch all kinds of horror, but i understand what you are looking for now. I am not a fan or gore, but it does not make or ruin the film for me....well, too much can.  >:(

I liked them both the same, although I think I liked part two better because of the character Beth. She was an excellent lead and on a wyhi scale she gets a easy 10. I was so hoping for a titty shot, didn't happen. >:(

I did not find it that good, but you are right about going into depth in detail about the character, Beth. I found the first one more interesting because i have traveled overseas and it is EPIC! For me, a American and seeing "CULTURE" and the fear of loosing one of my buddies actually freaked me and my friends out.  :) I am studying right now, but i am trying to think of some of the one's you may have not heard of. I would suggest the original "Piranha". I love it and it is better and better every single time. I know this is mainstream, but have you ever seen, "The Strangers"?  8) It is good, but weird because i could actually see that happening in real life. It's movies like those that make you think, "Are there really people out there?" and the answer is, YES!

I saw The Strangers. The stabbing at the end was epic. Loved that.

Others i've seen recently and liked:
The Orphan-more thriller than horror but good
Turistas- Hostel vibe
I Spit On Your Grave-Saw one and two, liked two better the girl was hot.
Paranormal Activity- one and two

All mainstream movies but I haven't searched out the obscure yet.
Good horror films a few and far between these days.

I re-watched Halloween the other night and it wasn't as epic
as my previous viewings.

Terrible.

The original was much better, but definitely not a movie you wanna watch with your G/F.

Turistas wasn't great but I wouldn't say it was horrible.
I will check out the original Piranha, think I saw it when I was a kid.
Did you see The Orphan?
Also, original Hellraiser was excellent. Pinhead is an awesome character.

Is that the one with the little girl who is actually older? If so, yes and it was a major disappointment.

Hellraiser one and two were great.  8)

I love watching the original Piranha and the characters.  ;)

Yes, that was The Orphan. I liked it I thought it was well done for what it was so I picked it up on DVD.
I did see the orginal Piranha when I was a kid good movie from what I remember, might have to re-watch it.
Have you seen The Hunger with David Bowie, really good.

Receiving Scream 4 tomorrow, heard it was good.

That is a series that i have never cared for and the Saw series.  ::) ::) Good god. The first saw made me think, but the rest were just god awful.  >:( >:( Another popular one that you may have scene is, "The Descent" which is pretty good.  ;) I also still love watching Maxium Overdrive.  8) Have you ever seen, "The People Under the Stairs"  ??? ??? Pumpkinhead is a classic along with "Shocker"  8) Please stay away from the re-make of "The Fog" and all re-makes.  :)

I haven't followed the Saw series. I watched Saw 1 or 2 and that was enough. I saw The People Under The Stairs, good. I saw the re-make of the Fog, yeah it sucked. Just added The Descent to my Netflix, looks good. I saw Shocker when it was in theaters, don't remember it being that great. Going to pass on Pumpkinhead.

you may have already seen this, but if not, then 'stake land' is well worth a watch. i like the vamps, 'cos instead of twinkling in sunlight  ::) and being attractive and intelligent beings.. these are primitive, animalistic, scary motherfuckers with a serious lust for blood. imagine 'buffy the vampire slayer', but set in a grim, post apocalypse, vampire world.

plus it's got the beautiful danielle harris in too  8)

the house of the devil (2009) ? a retro film that really does look and feel like it is a genuine 80s horror. cute college student in desperate need of money, gets a too good to be true, baby sitting job that turns into her worse nughtmare...

session 9 (2001) psychological horror set in a former mental asylum. this really is a first rate atmospheric and creepy movie.

one i watched just recently was 'when a stranger calls'. hot teen babysitter starts gwtting strange and frightening phone calls from a nutter. nothing new or groundbreaking here.. but there is some decent moments of tension and and fear as it turns the weirdo goes after his prey

Ok, i downloaded about 40 movies this week and most are the cheesy ones from the 80's (I love those), but i downloaded the re-make of "The Nightmare on Elm Street" and i just finished it and want to blow my brains out.  >:( I know that Me, Kiowol, deadz and anyone who likes horror films could write a better script then what i saw on the screen. please, avoid that film for all that is holy.  >:( I did get a chance to watch the Re-Make of, "I Spit on your Grave" and was surprised how good it turned out to be, but the original is still the best.  8) But, i am going to have to pick it up on both formats.  8) I actually felt pitty when i watched, "I Spit on your Grave", but try to avoid it if you are watching it with your G/F, Wife or some chick you are trying to fuck. i didn't think it was so bad the first time i saw it.. i watched it again some time ago and it was truly horrific.

even freddy's trademark red/green jumper and his hat looked bloody awful and out of place. they should have rebooted the fucker with a totally new and fresh story. only keeping the absolute minimum from the original like the razor glove .

'i spit on your grave' was very good. as is 'the last house on the left' remake.

i also like the 'friday the 13th' remake and zombies 'halloween' reboot wasn't half bad either.

i rewatched all the noes movies about 18 months ago.. and surprisingly, they all stand up pretty bloody well. i probably throw the first movie on about once a year or so. a classic in my eyes. the others i've tended to avoid since i first saw them years ago. gotta say they were excellent.  :)

I liked the remake of i spit on your grave more than the original. The acting, production, and the girl was way hotter.

The last house on the left was good. Never saw the original but I liked the remake. I thought the rape seen was superb. Overall the plot

wasn't too bad. Zombies Halloween was also good. I also like the re-makes of the hills have eyes.

horror films that scared the shit out of me.

i just mentioned in another thread how much the 'evil dead' scared the living daylights out of me. so here's a few others that really scared me.

Nosferatu (1922) - i still haven't seen this from beginning to end. we've all seen the classic scenes of this one and that was enough to make me turn it over whenever it was on the telly. maybe one of the creepiest films of all time.

The Omen (1976) - even now this film still gives me the creeps.

The Evil Dead (1981) - had me shitting bricks at bedtime for weeks. and that was only after seeing maybe 20 or so minutes of it. another film that took years for me to watch all the way through.

The Exorcist (1973) - almost goes without saying.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) - sent some serious shivers down my spine. really is quite an excellent, modern day horror film.

The whole film was just bad. The acting was bad, the script and sotrlyine were terrible, editing was bad....everything was bad.
Dont watch this film, if you like part 1&2. First of all, it has nothing to do with the Hostel movies. You have a complete different feeling too it...what you feel is, how this movie tries to rape the hostel films as hard as it can.

and then, there are the last 30min. >>> LMAO!!

i dont know, what the director was thinking...i mean, wtf?

STAY AWAY!!
