Title: MindSpin Owned!
Post by: suckmymuscle on November 22, 2011, 11:02:54 PM
MindSpin, the MMA moderator who knows nothing about MMA. According to him, he didn't buy the UFC 139 PPV because he didn't care about watching two "old PRIDE cans" fighting. Well, it turned out those two PRIDE cans put on a fight that even MindSpin's Jon, Dana White, regards as one of the best 3 ever. MindLess owned!!!! ;)

Was a great fight.

But really suck, it's one's opinion vs. another.  I really don't consider that being "owned".

Shut up twink.

Epic ownage right there. Not as badly as the way I just owned coltrane, but pretty close.

Meh...I'd take Edgar/Maynard III, and probably several other fights over this one. It was a back-and-forth fight, but there have been MANY fights like that in mma.

I've watched all UFCs since the first one in 1993 as well as all PRIDE events from 1997 to 2007 and I have seen no more than a few fights even at this level. Granted, I haven't watched much of the lower promotions except for Jungle Fight and a little DREAM fights, so maybe I have missed something.

What constitutes a "great fight" is a matter of opinion. Part of it for me is my level of interest in the two fighters who are doing the fighting.

While I greatly respect Shogun's accomplishments in PRIDE, I did not follow him at that time. In his career thus far in the UFC, he has been inconsistent. Other than his fights against Machida, quite frankly I have not been particularly impressed. As far as Dan Henderson, I do not believe Hendo to be a top 5 LHW at this time, his defeat of Fedor notwithstanding. The man was easily defeated by Jake Shields! Therefore, my interest level in this match up was rather low going in. There was little chance of me ranking this as a "top 3 of all time" fight no matter how much of a slug fest it may have become.

A fight is judged to be good or not depending on the level of skills displayed and not by what the fighters that took part in it have accomplished in the past, but in this case the history of both fighters adds value to the fight since they are both legendary. The other thing that makes a fight great is if it is a slugfest. Lay&pray kind of fights where wrestlers try to get each other on their backs and win via decision(GSP and Lesnar fights) can display very high levels technically but are boring to watch. BJJ grappling matches can be exciting or not depending on who you ask. This fight was great because the levels of skills displayed by both fighters is staggering and the fight was full of comebacks by both fighters.

As for Shogun and Hendo, they are the top of the top of the pecking order at the 205 lbs division. Proof: the current title contender at 205 lbs lost to Shogun twice. Hendo just KOd the most legendary heavyweight ever and is the only man to ever win PRIDE belts in two different weight divisions. I think that either Shogun or Henderson is the #2 at the 205 lbs division. Who besides Jon Jones and Hendo can beat Shogun? I don't see Rashad, Tito, Griffin or Bonnar beating Shogun.

CroCop vs Fedor has gotta be #1 to me. Most of Shoguns fights are considered some of the best just because the guy is technical and goes out there for the kill. Unlike some fighters who wont be mentioned.

top 3 fight can be 2 cans that don't even make the main card, doesn't mean it drew a lot of people, so his decision to skip the paperview has nothing to do with the fight ending up being a good fight. However you can say something like,"ha,in your face" or "you suck" for missing a kick ass fight, but I wouldn't say "owned :-\

Oh my...I've just now seen this thread.  LOL.  How am I owned?  Yes, it was a great fight, but unlike Dana and many others believe, it was far from the greatest fight ever ::) It looks like you're now falling for the Dana hype machine...lol.  After the 3rd round, both fighters were completely gassed.  And, this fight had very little to offer in terms of technical abilities.  What made it great, was that both guys showed a lot of heart...that's it.

Now, you've always accused me of being a UFC nut hugger and always siding with the UFC no matter what.  Well you're wrong.  I think Dana is an idiot and, the best fight that Saturday night happened over at Bellator.  If you have not seen it already, watch Eddie Alvarez lose his title in an unbelievable back and forth battle that incorporated all elements of MMA.  And, this fight actually had am awesome finish.

Once again, check mate...you're owned :)

MindLess, if you really think that all those two showed was heart and nothing more, you are crazy. Shogun put on a Muay Thai clinic in this fight, and both fighters showed incredible wrestling on the ground, and Shogun made several submission attempts that you only see at the black belt level in BJJ. Saying that Shogun and Hendo, two guys who own multiple belts from several organizations and have a combined three decades of fighting experience, showed nothing but heart in this fight is so stupid that I don't know why I am even arguing with you.

After this fight, I am convinced that Fedor, Shogun and Hendo are the three greatest MMA fighters ever. There is no question on my mind. All three from PRIDE. Shogun took a lot more damage in this fight than in his fight with Jon Jones. If he shows this durability in a rematch with Jones and lend at least one of those huge punches on Jones chin, he will regain his title. Forrest Griffin also beat Shogun once and look what Shogun did to him in a rematch. Oh, but the true rematch will be Shogun and Hendo again because Hendo will beat Jones and take the belt.

I'm very pleased to see that the moniker I invented for MindSpin has taken off around here.

My favorite Mindless comment about MMA involved Brock Lesnar. Mindless actually made the argument that Lesnar's cowardice when it comes to striking and his penchant for running away from other fighters in the octagon is comparative to Lyoto Machida type "elusiveness" and is part of a greater game plan orchestrated by Lesnars coaches.  ::)

The sad part is that I am not making any of this up.

MindLess claims that all Shogun and Hendo have is heart. Well, here is Shogun's highlights from PRIDE. Just look at the extremely technical level of his Muay Thai. I don't know if MindLess is aware of this, but Shogun is a Muay Thai grand master considered to be one of the most technical in the World. Black belts in Muay Thai actuallly travel to Chute Boxe to take lessons from him. MindLess knows shit.

That's actually not what I said.  I know that you get owned so badly that you have to resort to fabricating nonsense and distorting facts.  What I said was that in their most recent fight, Hendo & Shogun did not display a lot of technical prowess.  They did start strong, and then both were completely gassed and resorting to fighting out of pure heart.  You say Shogun put on a muay thai clinic?  LOL.  Look at the fight again.  He all but abandoned his muay thai and resorted to sloppy boxing.

The argument is not whether ot not these guys have good technical skills.  The argument is whether to not this was the greatest fight ever.  And, while they put on a great display of heart, it was a sloppy fight.  Right up there with what you get any time Leonard Garcia fights.

Hey, moron, can you read or are you illiterate? I said that Shogun and Hendo displayed awesome technical skills in that fight. Here is my exact quote:

"Shogun put on a Muay Thai clinic in this fight, and both fighters showed outstanding wrestling on the ground, and Shogun made several submission attempts that you only see at the black belt in BJJ."

So there you have it. I was talking about this specific fight and not their fighting abilities in general. My correcting you on the level of Shogun and Hendo in general has to do with your previous statement that you wouldn't buy the 139 PPPV because you didn't care about watching two PRIDE cans fight.  Hendo lost to Jake Shields...a welter weight weight

They guy was 40 when they fought! Howmany belts does Jake Shield have? Hando is the only man ever to win two belts at PRIDE. Yes, I know that you will say that PRIDE fixed fights, but the problem with this argument is that PRIDE fighters came to the UFC and won several belts, so if that is the case then UFC fighters are worse than actors! LMFAO!!

Who wasn't finished by Anderson? Hendo will destroy Anderson in a rematch. And remember that Anderson came from PRIDE.

Rua lost to Forrest Griffin

Yeah, and look what he did to him in the rematch. Shogun hadn't fought in over a year back then and had come from knee surgery whilst Griffin was all pumped up from TUF. Shogun was at 40% at that fight.

Anderson has also lost, you fool.  But he has never lost "miserably".  Neither has GSP.  Their losses were all about getting caught.  Anyone can get caught.  But, a true champion does not get dominated into a loss the way Rua, Henderson and Fedor have.

And, you can call Anderson a Pride fighter all you want, and it still won't be true.  If you use the argument "he fought in Pride first", then I can say he fought in BFC, Meca and Shooto before Pride.  So using your stupid argument, he is neither a UFC fighter or a Pride fighter.  The most commonly used standard is where did the fighter have most of his fights, or where did he hold a belt.  The answer to both of those questions, as it relates to Anderson, is the UFC....live with it...lol.

Either you're trolling or just plain retarded.  How can GSP be considered overrated when:
1. he won the belt by beating who many considered the most dominant welterweight ever.
2. he only has two losses, both where he was simply caught and both have been avenged.
3. he has never been dominated in a fight.
4. he has beaten all of the top welterweights in the division, some more than once.
5. he has one of the best records in all of MMA: 22-2-0 (with 59% of those wins by KO or sub)

Seriously.  How stupid are some of you guys ::)

Mark Coleman, Anderi Arlovski, Garry Goodrich, Semmy Shilt, Heath Herring, Big Nog, C op and Mark Hunt wer all top level com petitors when Fedor beat them. A little more than 5.

Don't forget Tim Sylvia, an ex ufc champ, funny how evryone says he fought cans, There is maybe only a few other fighters that has beaten more UFC and Pride Champs combined

You guys may be fooling yourselves, but you're not fooling me.  You know who else beat Tim Silvia? Abe Wagner & a fat and old Ray Mercer.  Does that make these guys amazing fighters?

Who's beaten Arlovski?  How about Kharitonov, Big Foot, Brett Rogers, etc.  Does that make these guys amazing fighters?

The fact of the matter is, that Fedor ducked the top fighters for years.  His opponents, like Bret Rogers, Hong Man Choi, Matt Linland (middle weight), etc. were all carefully selected.  When he was finally forced to fight real competition, he was exposed in the most humiliating fashion...three straight losses in a row...all finishes.

You Fedor nut huggers will argue that he is past his prime, but that is a bullshit excuse.  He fought a much older Dan Henderson, and still got KTFO.

Fedor is the most overrated fighter of all time, because people call him the best in spite of the fact that half of his wins were over no name cans and he ducked the world's greatest heavyweights.

Stating the facts here, just like you  ;D

Never lost miserably?? gtfo, Takada tapped him easily, Chonan also added Anderson to his highlight reel  :D

And Anderson is a great fighter. All the best lose, fact. Shogun, Hendo, Fedor, Silva, its just the way she goes. If GSP had the balls to fight anyone bigger than himself or one day decided to go all out and actually FIGHT to the bitter end like the previous mentioned, he'd lose a heck of alot more too.

First of all, all fighters have a few bad opponents, obviously, second prime has nothing to do with a certain age, Woooooosh People reach this stage at different ages, losing 3 in a row is proof of that.

Chonan was being dismantled with ease in the fight to be fair, one of the best submissions ive seen but he was never really in the fight m8

You're right he was, I was exaggerating and being irrational just to imitate mindless.

Craziest ending to a fight ever.

you try fighting with a broken rib for five rounds. Do you actually think someone who is ranked the highest in the MMA world and walks through oppenents like butter would be dominated that way by anyone, ah NO :P

He has to weigh in at 170 just like the rest of his opponents.  And you're "facts" about always having a reach advantage and always being bigger are erroneous.

Bullshit, he weighs more like 195 on fight day, is always taller and always has the reach advantage. And those right there my friend are FACTS

Doesn't matter how tall a fighter is or what his reach is because these things aren't considered for WEIGHT classes.

All that matters is how much one weighs at the weigh-in.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Hes a bigger framed guy fighting smaller framed fighters. And he weighs 195= on fight day, doesnt matter what he was a day a month a year earlier. He always the bigger fighter period.

Just going off the top of my head, but I believe he was no bigger than Fitch when they fought..  and pretty much the same with Koz.  GSP dismatled both.

So do you think that GSP should gain weight to fight at 185 all while losing the speed and agility that come with being lighter?

He'd be the one getting bullied and pummeled at 185. And thats exactly why fighters cut weight, to make things easier. So no, I dont think GSP has the balls to move up a weight class.

LOL.  Again, your facts are wrong.  Thiago Alves cuts down from over 200lbs.  Josh Koschek is the same height as GSP (5'10").  John Fitch is taller at 6'0".  Jake Shields is also 6' and has fought at 185.  Dan Hardy also 6'.

Do you just get out of bed every morning and just start making up shit?  LMAO.

How stupid are you?  Do you think GSP is the only fighter that cuts weight?  With the exception of BJ Pen, every fighter that GSP has fought, weighed more than 170 on fight day ::)
