She was asked if she found there to be an optimal weight for her singing (in regards to being out of breath, belting out songs harder or being able to hit higher/lower notes etc...) and Aretha said:

"I find about 160lbs to be the best for me. I felt the best and sang the best at that weight."

Aretha hasn't been 160lbs since the mid-late 70's if not longer than that. And when she said that she was pushing at least 300lbs if not 400lbs.

Killer singer at whatever weight she's at, for what it matters.

Because I think she has an amazing voice. What other reason would there be? And she Feels what she sings. Not common these days. Amy winehouse also comes to mind.

...Problem is that she feels food a little bit too much and I HATE a fat face. Amazing might be pushing it. Really great though. But she puts her soul in it.

As I said before, I've listened to her for a couple of years now and like her distinctive vocals. Nowhere near a Joni Mitchell or Ricki Lee Jones and yes, she is overplayed on the wireless but overall superior to the crap that passes for "talent" in today's market.
