Technically I guess some of the newer metal bands are front runners.
Guys like Dave are great but so are many others.

Lars Ulrich.....He would be considered more speed metal though.

Lars is generally laughed at in such discussions online, personally i dont see anything exceptional about him. I went to the A7X / Stone Sour double headliner in Glasgow in 2010 and Mike Portnoy was absolutely outstanding.

On the subject of Joey J, i do recall a video a young lad (about 12 - 14 yrs old) posted 3 days after Slipknot released an album and he was performing the songs like a seasoned pro. Ridiculous talent for the future........
