Title: Some people dont understand what photographers and models do
Post by: TK on April 16, 2012, 04:49:27 PM

From Terry Goodlad

Some people, many people maybe, don't really understand what models and photographers do. I guess showing people all the hot pictures and talking about cool locations would certainly leave the wrong impression so I want to clear it up so everyone understands.

For those that believe the fantasy that being a photographer means that you're days are spent hanging out with hot and sexy girls and being promiscuous with all or any of them, or that shooting beautiful models on a sunny Florida beach is all thongs and giggles I would like to tell you about the stuff you don't see in the pictures I take.

Two days ago while pushing the limits to get some really sensational shots, I got pounded by a massive wave I didn't see coming and wiped out $7500.00 worth of equipment. I have damage to my neck from previous problems and can't feel my right pinkie or the one beside it and it hurts so bad I have to take a Vicodin and 4 ibuprofen to make it though a whole shoot.

I just got over pneumonia in both lungs a week ago from my last road trip and I'm not feeling well again on this one. We have one more day of shooting which means one more day of rolling around in the cold water, high winds and sand in crevices I never knew I had. I love the work but its definitely work for both the model and photographer. It's gratifying when you see the result because all that I do is about creating the shot.

My models are professionals and we are here to work and I work them hard. You don't get really good shots unless the models are prepared to go above and beyond and its never fun and never comfortable. Any good model will confirm that. At the end of the day everyone goes to their own rooms and typically just falls asleep from exhaustion.

We create images for others to enjoy and the models are acting. What you see in the image is her doing her job and the more skilled models make it look like its actually happening. It isn't just like it isn't really happening when you watch a movie. Models are actors. It's work and nothing but work is ever going on before, after and during any of my shoots regardless how the model is posed, dressed, or looks.

If you want to be a photographer or model, its a lot of years of really hard work to be good at either so be prepared. What makes it all worth while is when people like the images so I wanted to share this to give some perspective of what really goes on and how important your kind words and comments are to me when you enjoy an image that I created. I do this for no other reason than to create those images that I love and hopefully you do to.

We are about to hit the beach again with Lais Deleon who has been a real trooper. She hung in there for a really tough one yesterday, this is just one wave that almost ate her alive, there were many more. We are off to put in another wet, sandy and cold day and hopefully come back tonight, tired, wet and dirty but with some images you will enjoy.

Thanks for making it worth while.

And we get a lot of sand in our tushie. Lord knows, it's not that easy to get the sand out.

I'm calling bullshit on his entire story.  He's just trying to bogart all the hot women by making the whole experience sound like a nightmare.  What a girl.  lol.

It all depends what kind of photo shoots they are.  Some take a lot longer than you think, and afterwards, getting the right pic and make them right is not easy either.

Where did you find Vicodin at the beach?
